Galaxy A71 terrible phone – Had for 2years. Too many updates. Poor coverage no matter which teleco provider you use. and now I receive phone calls where I can't here person calling but they can hear me, and sometimes it's vice versa. I will be changing to iPhone. Samsung phones are redicously overpriced. Need to concentrate more on what a mobile phone is for. If you want state of the art camera buy a camera. Show details

Worked great until it suddenly and inexplicably died at 12 months of age – I purchased this around March 2021. phone, so it was really a big nuisance. I'm left, 12 months later, with what I think is the same outside but completely new internal components. I was unimpressed by the fact a phone with a two-year warranty only lasted one year. I hope these parts last for more than just another 12 months.

Basically a good phone until it's not... there was no way of knowing that it wouldn't turn out to be as robust as what I expected it.

within manufacturers specifications. When they did a diagnostic check I was told the mobile sat on a bench for two weeks and no issues arose. I thought if it was phantom calling from my pocket they would not leave it on a bench to test. Dont waste your money with SAMSUNG A71

code to unlock everything. The Bluetooth will connect to everything in out house except the portable speaker that we want to use. Excellent camera's, and screen, but way too many glitches for me. Oh, and by the way, I have tried everything to rectify these issues, resetting, updating, etc, but to no avail. My Samsung tablet (S6 lite) is a severe let down as well. Going back to Xiaomi.

Finding Downloads is like going on a Bear Hunt ... so disorganised – Owned 3 different mobiles. Never before have I had to search endlessly for downloads. Everything is so disorganised. Worst phone I've ever owned – The reception of this phone is the lowest I've ever had. When everyone else has 5 bars I have 2. Unless I sit in a specific chair at home I cannot get reception or people cannot hear me. Samsung are prepared to look at the problem but ask I give them the phone for 2 weeks, will charge me for it and are likely to say 'we couldn't find any problem'. All I can do is wait until the contact runs out next year then dump it. As for the camera, I don't know what they take the sample photos with but it isn't my phone. There's no way I'd get quality photos like that on my phone. All my mistake really, I should have researched better.

Terrible disappointment. Intermittent fault during phone calls – I'd give it zero if that was possible, but had to give one star because there is nothing lower. Waste of money, worst Samsung Phone I ever had – It was my 4th Samsung galaxy phone, compared it's specification with S20 and decided to buy A71. Such a big mistake, the phone quality is not even close, after 6 months, the phone shutdown itself, took it to Samsung and they found a scratch on the camera and void the warranty. Extremely happy with this phone when bought but read the full review as switching to iphone – Moved from iphone 6s to this phone in search of bigger screen and very happy with screen size, performance, speed etc. Only drawback I thought was charging cable which is USB-C both end, therefore one needs to use an adaptor USB-C to USB so that it can be charged in the car/laptop vis USB plug. Another trouble I had was moving data from iphone whatsapp to Android whatsapp as SmartSwitch does not work for whatsapp.

Fast foward to Jan 2023, this phone started to show its true colour. I was about to travel overseas and bam; a few days before, phone started to keep restarting and I did all the fixes provided in samsung support but no avail. Once morning, entered PIN twice correctly and it showed message "Try again in 24 Hour" and literally I couldn't do anything with the phone. I found imobie claiming to repair such issues by downloading their s/w in 45$. In jiffy, I opted to download their s/w droit kit and to my surprise this phone got frozen and then I had no time to fix the phone but to use an old phone for travel.

During my travel I had to use old phone and with great trouble; for example I was without ticket to enter airport and had to request people to get me physical ticket printout; had no device to check flight status for connecting flight, no device to connect with family & friend etc. I somehow managed to reach my destination India and went to Samsung service center as local repair shops denied to service this problem as they suspected major issues. To my surprise samsung service center told me they cannot update software as this model is not serviceable in India and they cannot do anything much. As a good will they offered me to collect phone and send it to Delhi service center and lead time supposed to be around 2 weeks without any gaurantee that phone would be repaired. I denied handing over phone and went to another local repair shop.

Local repair shop managed to start the phone as if this is a new phone and had happy go lucky feeling. I managed to restore old data from backups however the issue started ocurring again in weeks time and I am still with this issue. Although loved this phone for battery life & camera quality, I am planning to switching back to iphone sooner.

Although, started my smartphone journey with Android, I learn't from my experience and the talk with mobile repairers that Android ecosystem has extremely poor reliability and is not trustworthy. Time to switch back to iphone.

seemed pretty modest and reasonable, but I found to be unobtainable in most phones - primarily: Minimal software bugs reported. Reasonable robust. Decent battery life - more than one full day in average usage. Good performance. A 3.5mm headphone jack. Reasonable quality audio. Decent photo/video capture. Dual sims for travel (....when we can) A large enough screen to make navigation tools easy to display. Capable of running basic software, including the DJI Fly app. 4G is sufficient, as 5G will be quite some time where we live, I expect that will be the next upgrade.

I do not play games other than chess on my mobile, so the ability to play games was not really an issue. I also prefer something with a lower powered CPU for longer battery life, with the added benefit of a cooler running phone. So after taking my requirements into account, and with the knowledge I was not ready to embrace some of the Chinese offerings, I made the choice between a Samsung 4G Z Flip, and the A71. Both similar 6.7 inch phones, though both completely different.. The Z Flip is more premium build, more flagship than utility, with an interesting folding screen design, and *most* of the bells and whistles. Its battery life (which is a pair of smaller cells) looks quite poor compared to the A71, and it does not have the 3.5mm audio jack or dual sim. As I had concerns about the longevity of the screen, and was reading a few too many cases of the screen cracking during normal use, I decided against the flip. I could also find no confirmation it was supported by DJI Fly app, and it is an expensive 'guess', so I went with the safe(r) purchase - and will put the $350-400 saved toward a future 5G handset. Any mobile will have detractors, and the reviews tend to be written by a pool of disgruntled users that *may* be a minority though do squeal very loudly. Much like a tripadvisor 5 star, you need to read between the lines to decide for yourself whether all complaints are acceptable. I have read a few complaints about the A71, there are various issues some users have experienced, though this is the high end of entry level, and consequently Samsung must have sold millions of these handsets - so I expect the volume sold would result in some defective handsets. My experience so far - after only 36 hours? The A71 came with a couple of screen protectors and a transparent case. I had already purchased a couple of Mezon tempered glass screen protectors and a Spigen case, so these are a bonus. There are warnings about screen protectors impacting the biometrics, so far the Mezon has not had any issue, though it was a little fiddly to install. The phone picked up my fingerprints eventually, while the facial recognition has been working perfectly. The phone feels quite robust, and looks premium - in black. The screen is gorilla glass, plastic rear panel (..or glasstik mix), internally its a plastic frame over the top of an aluminium subframe, so it does feel quite rigid. Performance in general use has been very snappy. The handset has hardly become warm, even during an Android system update it could only be described as warmish. It barely warmed up despite download and install of apps, listening to music and watching video. Video quality on the super amoled screen looks brilliant, it may only be a 60hz refresh rate screen, but this is an excellent 2400 x 1080 screen - and huge! Note that other phones offering 120hz will only provide that refresh rate at the expense of battery life. The 4.5A battery is coping really well under mixed usage so far. The A71 battery was around 50% charged out of the box, it quickly charged to 100% and 12 hours later was at 75%. My wish list was 1 -> 1.5 days, even the S20+ and Z Flip do not last a full day. This phone appears capable of lasting 2-3 full days without a recharge at my usage levels, in heavy use I cannot see it requiring a top up during the day. In standby it dropped around 4% overnight, so with occasional calls two days would easily be achieved. Charging is quick - from 57% to 82% in less than 25 minutes, I expect ~90 minutes from nothing to full. Obviously with time the new battery will deteriorate, but this is a very good starting point. I may add a follow up to this review after 6 months. Currently I could not be happier, the A71 has exceeded my expectations.

Sorry I'm finding it a disappointment - I regret my purchase – Only 2 months in with my A71 and so over it. After doing days of research I thought that the A71 would be a really good device. you have taken. This is really bad. I have never had such issues with any phone I've had. Other issues mainly fall into what I would call; the A71 has a "mind of its own" and will do what it likes, when it likes. eg alter the volume, not show a notification/sound on incoming and so on. Also just another small and personal problem, I don't like being forced to buy yet another lead as you can't charge a new style Samsung in the car anymore. They are not USB on one end anymore. I won't touch Apple for the same reason - being told what I must do, and fit into their box only. Its a terrible phone. I was a Samsung convert, then I changed while they had "exploding battery" issues. I decided to try them again and got my brand new A71. Very disappointed to the point that I'm looking to sell it, take a hit and go back to a very "user-friendly" phone. (not appropriate to name here)I gave Samsung the opportunity to reply. They really dony care about the customer, all they could say was do a hard factory reset. They won't acknowledge they have a problem with the mic and camera on the A71. (same as they didn't want to own the exploding batteries at the time) They are to arrogant and don't care about customer service. I would look at other brands that have really stepped up their game and product. There is quite a few now. In fact my old Oppo is 10 times a better phone than Samsung. That is really sad. But that is how no brands finally take market share off the big guys as the customer service from Samsung is disgraceful.

It's a good phone – I really like this phone after having the higher end Galaxy models despite having less features. Everything works as expected but the biggest and most annoying flaw I've noticed would be the volume and power buttons being so close together. Just as good as more expensive versions – Just recently got this phone, and for my purposes it is as good as the more expensive versions. The functionality as far as I can see is much the same as my Samsung A9. I am retired and would recommend this to anyone who doesn't need all the bells & whistles.  Show details ·  1
