Finding Downloads is like going on a Bear Hunt ... so disorganised – Owned 3 different mobiles. Never before have I had to search endlessly for downloads. Everything is so disorganised. I'm not a lover of the side button, or the larger size. Would never recommend this phone. I do get some conciliation from the camera. Show details

Being sold as a dual sim and is not – I purchased the A71 as it was being sold as a dual sim by Amazon I got it to have my normal sim and a local sim when I traveled. Due to covid19, I did not get to travel or use the feature recently I thought I would add a second sim to use for work/personal only to find out the phone is not a dual sim, I contacted Amazon who just keeps insisting it… Read more

is a dual sim phone so I contacted Samsung who said the Australian version is not a dual sim but basically tough luck as I purchased it from Amazon. Samsung refuses to help in any way and also is not doing anything about Amazon misrepresenting Samsung phones. It seems neither Samsung nor Amazon cares about the customer at the end of the day

Terrible disappointment. Intermittent fault during phone calls – I'd give it zero if that was possible, but had to give one star because there is nothing lower. I have had issues where the phone goes dead during a mobile call for about 2-3 seconds intermittently. The call doesn't drop out, just the sound, from both ends. I have returned it to Samsung twice in the past 6 weeks. They said they replaced the… Read more

"board" in the phone, but the problem is still there - worse if anything. I'm taking it back tomorrow for the third time!!! Never again will I buy Samsung.

Extremely happy with this phone when bought but read the full review as switching to iphone – Moved from iphone 6s to this phone in search of bigger screen and very happy with screen size, performance, speed etc. Only drawback I thought was charging cable which is USB-C both end, therefore one needs to use an adaptor USB-C to USB so that it can be charged in the car/laptop vis USB plug. Overall very happy after buying it from JB HIFI.… Read more

Another trouble I had was moving data from iphone whatsapp to Android whatsapp as SmartSwitch does not work for whatsapp.

Fast foward to Jan 2023, this phone started to show its true colour. I was about to travel overseas and bam; a few days before, phone started to keep restarting and I did all the fixes provided in samsung support but no avail. Once morning, entered PIN twice correctly and it showed message "Try again in 24 Hour" and literally I couldn't do anything with the phone. I found imobie claiming to repair such issues by downloading their s/w in 45$. In jiffy, I opted to download their s/w droit kit and to my surprise this phone got frozen and then I had no time to fix the phone but to use an old phone for travel.

During my travel I had to use old phone and with great trouble; for example I was without ticket to enter airport and had to request people to get me physical ticket printout; had no device to check flight status for connecting flight, no device to connect with family & friend etc. I somehow managed to reach my destination India and went to Samsung service center as local repair shops denied to service this problem as they suspected major issues. To my surprise samsung service center told me they cannot update software as this model is not serviceable in India and they cannot do anything much. As a good will they offered me to collect phone and send it to Delhi service center and lead time supposed to be around 2 weeks without any gaurantee that phone would be repaired. I denied handing over phone and went to another local repair shop.

Local repair shop managed to start the phone as if this is a new phone and had happy go lucky feeling. I managed to restore old data from backups however the issue started ocurring again in weeks time and I am still with this issue. Although loved this phone for battery life & camera quality, I am planning to switching back to iphone sooner.

Although, started my smartphone journey with Android, I learn't from my experience and the talk with mobile repairers that Android ecosystem has extremely poor reliability and is not trustworthy. Time to switch back to iphone.

The 5G does not have a Dual Sim – A number of the reviews on this site are misleading as they state that the Samsung A71 5G phone has a dual sim. It does not. The A71 4G has a dual sim, the 5G has a single sim. This significant difference between the two models was not clear at the retailer I purchased the phone from (or any of the other retailers I visited when deciding what… Read more

model to purchase). The Samsung site specs do state this if you specifically go looking however, review sites like this one, and others I consulted do not make this key point of difference clear. I would not have purchased the 5G model had I known this before getting the product home and setting it up. Unfortunately, no matter how good the phone is, when it lacks a key feature that was expected when purchased I can't provide a more positive review.

Sorry I'm finding it a disappointment - I regret my purchase – Only 2 months in with my A71 and so over it. After doing days of research I thought that the A71 would be a really good device. Sorry, not. Main issue is the speaker/mic quality. People keep telling me that the sound is terrible. Next main issue is the camera. It decided all by itself to "time-lag" the photo so that you can't immediately see what… Read more

you have taken. This is really bad. I have never had such issues with any phone I've had. Other issues mainly fall into what I would call; the A71 has a "mind of its own" and will do what it likes, when it likes. eg alter the volume, not show a notification/sound on incoming and so on. Also just another small and personal problem, I don't like being forced to buy yet another lead as you can't charge a new style Samsung in the car anymore. They are not USB on one end anymore. I won't touch Apple for the same reason - being told what I must do, and fit into their box only. Its a terrible phone. I was a Samsung convert, then I changed while they had "exploding battery" issues. I decided to try them again and got my brand new A71. Very disappointed to the point that I'm looking to sell it, take a hit and go back to a very "user-friendly" phone. (not appropriate to name here)I gave Samsung the opportunity to reply. They really dony care about the customer, all they could say was do a hard factory reset. They won't acknowledge they have a problem with the mic and camera on the A71. (same as they didn't want to own the exploding batteries at the time) They are to arrogant and don't care about customer service. I would look at other brands that have really stepped up their game and product. There is quite a few now. In fact my old Oppo is 10 times a better phone than Samsung. That is really sad. But that is how no brands finally take market share off the big guys as the customer service from Samsung is disgraceful.

Brilliant handset from Samsung – After owning a Galaxy S8+ since it came out a little over three years ago I was keen to move on to something a bit newer with better battery life and a slightly bigger screen. My S8 was still running well but the battery wasn't lasting as well as it did new which was a bit of an issue considering I need to use my phone fairly often, I also knew… Read more

that it was no longer going to receive any new versions of Android past Android 9. After doing a bit of research and finding that the new S20 series was out of my price range I came across the Galaxy A71 which I have been extremely happy with, it has been a worthwhile upgrade from my old phone.

Pros: - Battery life is AMAZING, it can easily get to the end of a day with 70% remaining after fairly heavy use (particularly during COVID). - 1080p Super AMOLED+ screen quality is awesome, the screen is bright and extremely colourful and is something that people are always pointing out when they see me using it, the hole-punch display is another point of conversation with many being amazed with how good it looks in comparison with say, the huge notch on the latest iPhones. - Camera's are all great, I love having the many different camera-modes ready at hand which all take high-quality images and are better than my S8+. - Phone is snappy and has never lagged, the Snapdragon 730 chipset is very good at powering the phone. I really hope Samsung do consider using Snapdragon chipsets in all their devices, particularly the more expensive ones which have copped a fair amount of criticism after being found to contain inferior chipsets in Australia compared with those from the USA. - Phone is priced very competitively, particularly so as I purchased through the Samsung Education Store from my university.

Cons: - I really cant think of any. The night-time quality of the camera's could be a little better but this is only a very minor thing, it definitely gets the job done.

Overall I am really enjoying my new phone and its incredible value for the price I paid. Well done to Samsung for making the A71 a brilliant device.

It's a good phone – I really like this phone after having the higher end Galaxy models despite having less features. Everything works as expected but the biggest and most annoying flaw I've noticed would be the volume and power buttons being so close together. Trying to adjust volume conveniently isn't that great and the countless accidental screen shots. Show details ·  1

From Samsung S8+ to the A71 5G – I searched and researched for months on which phone to go to next having a Samsung Galaxy S8+. I looked at S20 Ultra as being my next move however the $$ did not add up from my research and from many reviews I read. I then googled upgrade from SG S8+ to ?? and discover the 'A Series'. Compared the phone I had with this one and went. The upgrade… Read more ·  1

was great and the price was great. (If I had upgraded to S20 range would need to then research wireless headsets as well = more expense) I love the A71 5G. It was a little bigger than the S8+ but not enough to bother me. Still fits in my pocket, my had (medium sized female). The camera was another reason. ++ on the camera. I could not find the 5G in store (Big W/Target have the 4G) I went through Officeworks and had it delivered - delivery time was very good) I paid $700 au. I have checked and I don't think they have the 5G available anymore, but still have the 4G. I would Recommend this phone...but they are running out!! Comes with screen protector already on it and a clear case. I can say I have dropped this one (within 1 week of purchase) on tiled floor (and since when it has slid off books I stupidly put it from 1.5m) and it is still perfect!! no dints! no broken screen - nothing! SUPER Fast 25w charger was another bonus. LOVE THIS CHARGER! Phone goes all day without a charge and a quick charge later at night = that is it. where my s8+ I had to have it connected to a powerbank to get me through the day which was very frustrating.

Just as good as more expensive versions – Just recently got this phone, and for my purposes it is as good as the more expensive versions. The functionality as far as I can see is much the same as my Samsung A9. I am retired and would recommend this to anyone who doesn't need all the bells & whistles.  Show details ·  1

Brilliant mid-tier handset – The phone has good call quality. There is little distortion in hearing the caller, even when in the wind. There is plenty of RAM and storage for apps, photos and music to be held. The storage can be expanded with a memory card (up to 512GB.) The phone has dual SIM and a dedicated memory card slot. The main camera has 4 lenses with minimal lens… Read more ·  1

flare. Takes great photos that have plenty of detail. The AI computational image processing that handles the final image quite well. The phone also has 6GB of RAM that handles some of the most memory-intensive apps with relative ease. Having bought many mid-tier handsets in the past, this handset leaves the rest for dust, even some flagship phones. Well worth the money that they're asking for it. Ideal for students as it will handle taking notes, making calls and quick google searches in class.

Great phone CHEAP screen – While sitting down the phone slipped out if my pocket and fell onto the tiles. Big crack across the screen. I can understand if it fell from half a meter...but from something simple like this. SAMSUNG below par quality is an understatement. Going back to xiaomi for sure after this. great and feels comfortable in the hand, 6.7 inch screen and great super amoled display. Why pay for the flagship when this has almost everything the flagships have at one third the price. Excellent version of Android 10. No problems running apps. Night mode on camera astounded me. . Only cons are not waterproof (but I've never had one before either, I just take care of them in the wet), bottom speaker a little weak (but I prefer headphone or Bluetooth speakers). Now had the phone for 3 weeks. The pluses outweigh the minor issues a hundredfold. Samsung has a winner here and I'm glad I bought it

Great phone for a great price – After using the Samsung Galaxy S8 for almost 2 years, I was looking for a Samsung phone that didn't break the bank. The A71 has a big screen and awesome battery life. The fast charging in particular is helpful though I do miss wireless chargin. Whilst I preferred the S8's main camera the wide angle on the A71 is very useful. So far all apps run smoothly. Great phone at a very reasonable price point. Show details

Best Midrange Android Phone – This phone has it all covered. Camera is excellent, speed is great (i have the 8GB RAM model), the display is fantastic and I use this phone extensively for work, social media, video's, gaming etc. Apps run smoothly, never a glitch. I love this thing and for the price, it's seriously good value. The battery life is outstanding and the super fast charge is a great thing too. No wireless charging, but that's not a big deal. Show details ·  1

Good early review, Dual Sim, big Screen, 4 cameras – I had the Samsung Galaxy s7 and needed a new phone. Wanted something with Dual sim so I could have a work mobile number and my personal number. The New Samsung Galaxy s20 phones are stupidly priced. There is no need to pay $2000 or around that number for a phone. The new iPhones are around that price. Remember that the iPhone 3, the first iPhone,… Read more ·  1

was $500 new, that was a revolution, a new product, now they are usually slight updates and upgrades to a system that has been streamlined thoroughly.

I compared the phones and found this Galaxy A71 was a great option. It has dual sim, which was a great option for a business owner or someone who wants two numbers. Are you selling things online? Get a second phone number, buy a $5 ALDI sim card with 365 day credit and use that number instead of getting scam calls on your normal number.. I get 1-5 calls a week from indian call centre scams offering phones. These are all scams, please educate as many people as you can, they steal your identity documents now, instead of getting you to buy gift cards. If they get your ID they can get into your bank account.

Ok back to the phone. The camera is an upgrade on the Galaxy s7. You can take wide photos, and that is an effect that will keep you entertained for months. Our eyes see very widely, and the option to have a wide view is a revolution for those of us with the older phone tech.

HEADPHONE JACK! - i need this. I use it as a DJ. There is no reason to trust bluetooth, it is always better to use a cable for audio. Bluetooth cuts out and is unrelaible and has a delay. It's ok for calls and other things, I need to headphone jack if i need to get the audio in high quality and reliably.

DUAL SIM & SD card Some dual sim phones give you the option of having 1 sim + sd card , or 2 x sim. This phone has 3 slots, 2 sim card slots and 1 sd card slot. Great, i have normal nano sim cards , i had to get a new Aldi one to replace the old one, that was easy, just buy a $5 sim from aldi and in the account setting select 'new simcard' and it is instant changeover. I can put 2 sim cards and my 128gb sd card in the phone and away you go

Samsung also makes it very easy to swap over the phone, load up the smart switch software and away it goes, everthing transferred across

I foresee these phones becoming very popular. Great features, reasonable price, and the only thing missing is 5g... and no Samsung phones with 5g have Dual Sim and Headphone jack, so it will be a few years wait for that... maybe.. or maybe this phone was designed for people like me that have certain functions in mind and are not going to spend $2000 on a phone because it is new. The reviews aren't that great and the camera on the s20 doesn't seem to be that much of a change from the s10 5g , which gets good reviews.
