Excellent – Purchase this because it is cheap. The camera was better than expected. At first, the battery can last for 3 days, but now, I have to charge at least once a day. Not sure if there's any difference between local and import quality. Show details ·  1

Annoying – I chose the Samsung Galaxy 8 because they have a history of being great phones, have the Telstra Blue Tick for phone range, and have a shuffle function in the music player. And in the basics, it does all that. I'm having issue with the cosmetic parts. The curved screen hurts my eyes. I find that I cannot read off the curved screen for more than… Read more

10 minutes at a time. I've never had this issue with a flat screen. It keeps asking me to log into a Samsung account and other pre-installed apps - which I have no intention of doing. The phone also keeps complaining that there is no internet connection. It is up to me when I turn on my internet connection. Especially when I don't have a large allowance, I don't want to waste it on advertising while playing Solitare, or having GPS tracking locate me 24/7. With the new update, they chose to change the program icons. Ok they're pretty, somewhat functional. But the icon for Gallery is now similar enough to the Settings icon that my husband with glasses is having to double check every single time. Another irritation happens every single time I open Contacts or Messages. There is a big empty space that takes up more than half of the page, before the messages or contacts start. True, it disappears when you scroll upwards. But why is it even there in the first place?

I don't care about fancy squiggles and curves. I want the functionality and range of the Galaxy S1 back.

Great phone but screen cracks too easily – I've owned this phone for about 2 years. Overall I've been very happy - I got the dual sim version in the larger + size. Camera is really good, looks sleek (love the look of iPhones but not the system nor price). I use my phone a lot, mainly for social media and not so much for calls but the call quality is great, no issues like others have… Read more

experienced with the OnePlus 3T and some of the cheaper Motorola models. Apps are responsive and system is fast enough to run everything smoothly.

I have one gripe though, and this would probably prevent me from recommending it to others: the screen is fragile and chips/cracks easily. This is my 4th smartphone and I've never broken a screen before. This time I've broken not only the back but front panel and now the corner is starting to chip away. Disappointing, I hope this is something Samsung address with future models, but I guess it may also just be a consequence of the curved screen (in which case the regular screen may be preferable).

Solid phone that will last you for years to come! – The last Samsung phone I used was the Note 2 and then I started trying out a bunch of different brands. After many years, I returned back to Samsung and it was one of the best decisions I have made. Over the years, Samsung have continually innovated on their products trying to bring the BEST to their customers. S8 has a solid camera (front… Read more

camera is a bit fake though), good size (easy to hold on one hand or have small hands in general), barely any lag, and beautiful to look at.

The downsides would be the battery is not the best. With Note 7 exploding, Samsung around that time was more conservative with their battery decisions. It could have been engineered with a slightly larger battery. It does last me through the day if I charge during work hours, but it would be nice if it was just a bit better.

The curved edges are beautiful, but it is VERY hard to find a good screen protector. As a result, I haven't used one since my second month. After almost 1 year and a half of use, it does have some fine scratches on the screen which is painful to see, but hard to notice.

Samsung Galaxy Phone FAN !! – Wife and I are very happy with our Samsung Galaxy phone journey, starting with S4, S6 and now S8.. May I talk about 1 incident that has left us completely amazed.. 2 weeks ago I dropped my car headon into a roadside ditch that happened to be full of muddy water.. My S8 phone landed in the passenger footwell and ended up under 70+cm of muddy… Read more

water.. The water flooded to above the dashboard.. due to heavy rain we were unable to retrieve the car until next day, resulting in my S8 being under muddy water for some 14.5 hours My wife wiped the phone clean and put it down and we talked about getting another S8 or maybe the S10 under a new phone plan... THEN my phone rang and I have used it every day since... I am completely amazed, stunned, grateful that I didn't lose all my info, contacts etc AND I still have my beautiful phone !!!! Gotta buy a new cover tho.. Sadly my S6 drowned in the same accident.. My Wife's S8 also took a lot of rainfall and still works great..

NO WAY will we be swapping from Samsung Phones...

Cheers, Vince

Good basic phone to use – Good camera love natural shoot from it. Battery is not good after two years . Terrible but u already make good use for at leaset two year. Broken screen - cost $300 to fix. While the cost of purchase new phone now is $450. So keep the phone protected with $10 case. On the other hand. When they change the screen, battery is with it so new battery. Best phone Ive had – Wife loves it and refuses to upgrade. Durable and tough, she's dropped it numerous times from height and thrown it at me a few times too haha. unimpressed it changed the phones display from what she'd become accustomed to. MAJOR NEGATIVE, not being able to uninstall certain apps. Its wrong to force unwanted apps onto peoples phones especially untrustworthy ones that are known for privacy breaches. Very unsettling.

Great Phone! – I bought this phone used in 2018 or 19 (can't quite remember). I have used it now for about 2-3 years and its been the best phone I've owned. Mine is the "standard" model not the plus. The camera quality is decent by modern standards, and was excellent in 2017. Photos still look good especially in sunny areas. I took some photos in Singapore and… Read more

am still shocked at how good they look. The Phone is still one of the best looking flagships ever made IMO. I've kept mine in a case and the phone is in immaculate condition. The OLED display is bright and looks excellent. It is still fast and apps run smoothly. Mine is the exynos variant, which can be rooted and an android 11 custom rom can be flashed if you wish, the snapdragon (USA variant ) cannot. Stock, it has the Android 9 update which runs well on One UI. There are two issues I have with the phone however and these are thinks that you should look out for:

1. My Battery runs down really fast. Its like $150 to change it professionally(not worth it) or $40 kit online DIY (could definitely be worth it). Unlike the S5 the back is NOT removable so you need a heat gun or hair dryer. It is a pain in the a*s to change the battery but totally doable DIY as long as you're careful.

2. My Screen is really burnt in. This is a common issue with the older OLED panels. Mine is visible on apps that have a white background like Facebook messenger. I think the previous owner used the phone at 100% brightness all the time, which worsened my issue.

Overall, I am incredibly satisfied with this phone. I'm hoping to get another year or so out of it then change the battery and give it to my mum. As for buying one used today, I'd probably spend a bit extra and get an S10 or something similar. It will have the newest updates and feel a lot more modern. But if you do settle for an S8, watch out for battery and burn in issues.

Best phone I've owned – It's 2020 now and I still think this is one of the best looking phones out there. I use a Spigen case and periodically replace $5 eBay tempered glass screen protectors. Samsung have also stopped providing Android updates to the model, which means I'll be stuck with Android 9 for the foreseeable future. Security patches will continue to be released however.

The camera is fantastic and as a past IOS user, I definitely appreciate the extra functionality of Android phones, particular the ability to add an extra SD card. Happy to keep this phone until something groundbreaking comes out.

This phone is great, in pretty much every way – This phone has been my daily driver for a couple of months now, even whilst being an "old" phone by today's standards, it might have been ahead of it's time because it has almost all the features of a new flagship, and everything it does, it does well. Bluetooth devices at once and I find myself using this a lot. Call quality is excellent and the camera is still VERY good by today's standards. It can take very competent photos at night and even better at day time. As I have the S8+ model, the screen is quite big, great for watching videos or movies with the ultra-wide aspect ratio, even better that it supports HDR10. Overall this phone still feels very smooth and everything is way beyond satisfactory considering how cheap you can find this phone for now.

Easy to use and works great! – I have had iPhones for years and I've recently tried Samsung and it has so much more and better features than iPhone did for a much better price. It's easy to use. Mine must be the only lemon out there – Where do I start. Great phone with great features – Phone has been with me now for over a year and has been faultless. The water resistance has been fantastic for my active lifestyle and outdoor jobs. phone jack has been used both for headphones and cars. The screen did crack but that was sustained from a fall out of my pocket whilst jumping, so was to be expected. Regardless, it has worked faultlessly until recently when the crack eventually expanded through the whole screen and the lcd itself cracked. Very robust considering how I have treated it.

I opted to repair than replace as I am very happy with the phone.

Big improvement over the last model – Well worth the upgrade from the S7 in my opinion. The hardware and features of the S9 weren't enough to convince me to fork out the extra money but I'm very happy with the S8. Speakers and screen in particular are much better. Battery life is fairly average. Show details

Great Smart Phone, does its job – I've had this phone for more than 2 years and it's still pretty good. The apps run smoothly on my phone, it's not lagging, still running pretty fast.
