Don't buy it – Update- I am surprised that Samsung hasn’t contacted me to arrange repair of this faulty phone that I have paid THOUSANDS of dollars for. This is the THIRD time this screen has cracked. It hasn’t been dropped, it hasn’t been used roughly. It is a faulty product. But as we all know big companies could care less about their faulty products and… Read more
the waste they create. My goddaughter passed away on my birthday this year and my last photos of her are on that phone, which I can’t access. Sad to say, I expected more from Samsung, after so many years of being a loyal customer, it counts for NOTHING!!!!
Was so excited to get this phone. But screen broke after about 6 months, sent it away to have a screen replacement (without a phone for 10 days). That lasted about another 6 months and it broke again. You can hear the crackle when you close it and you know it's about to break and now, it's broken AGAIN and the screen this time has gone completely black (rather than the green lines the first 2 times). The store just wants me to buy a new phone, they were ZERO help and Samsung was Sl PAINFUL to try and get any information or help from that I just gave up. It's sitting in a drawer and I bought a $300 A15 until I've finished paying off the stupid flip phone and I'm going straight to Apple. I've been a Samsung user since mobile phones were INVENTED but will be learning some new things soon with Apple
Are folding phone screens reliable over time? (Updated) – Update: the Flip 4 has just come back from its second screen repair at 18 months old. I have to conclude, after two phones needing two screen repairs, that folding phones are an expensive gimmick that won't last any length of time. Save your money. Our family owns two folding phones; a Z Flip3 and a Z Flip 4. These are both great phones when they… Read more
work, folding into a small form factor which easily slips into any pocket or purse. They do everything they have to, but both of them have needed screen repairs despite always being fitted with cases and carefully treated.
The problem: the active component of the folding touch screen is incredibly thin and fragile. It relies for strength on an adhesive protector which is applied at the factory. With normal use over time, the protector will start to separate from the touchscreen along the fold. If this is left alone, the touchscreen will eventually crack along the fold leading to a total failure. You can find many images of this failure posted online.
Samsung sold these phones in Australia with a two year warranty. For factory testing, they made a machine that performs 100,000 open/close actions, and claim that each phone would last at least that long. They also have five years of security updates, which promises a long lasting product.
However, at 12 months, both of our phones had to be returned for repair when the protector pulled away along the fold. The Flip 3 needed a second repair at 22 months. Samsung was reluctant to do the second repair, but I managed to talk them into it, and for the moment, everything is working fine.
As much as we like these phones, 2 out of 2 needed screen repair within the warranty period, which calls into question their longevity. Given how expensive they are, you might be better off getting a much cheaper phone that works equally well but does not fold.
Mixed – Still a far better option than apple products android phones are easier to use. I booked into apple to get a replacement battery, they hit me up for $500 for extra antenna repair, I only wanted the battery as that was all I could afford and then they refused to fix it because I wouldn’t comply with a full service. They don’t care about customers, they just want your money. Android and Samsung are still by far a superior product and service Show details
Hi Sam, thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate your feedback.

Worst, flimsiest phone and terrible support from Samsung – I'm on my 4th replacement of this flimsy phone. The coolness is not worth the headache of it breaking continuously. Now that the screen has bubbled and gone black they want me to send it back to samsung, leaving me without a phone for weeks, for repair. No amount of pleading to samsung or the store I purchased from got me anywhere. Back to Apple I… Read more
go, where function over form wins. I will never, ever, purchase a samsung anything again. At least with Apple you have instant repair options.

Great phone, minor protector issue, easily fixed – I bought my Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 in October 2022 (Pink Gold 128GB) and I loved it instantly, one click install of all my apps and data from my Galaxy Note and I was up and running. Compact to fit in my handbag or pocket. When I first started using it of course I noticed the fold in the middle, but after about a week, I didn't notice it… Read more · 1
anymore.
Never had an issue until 13 months later and the factory screen protector started to bubble, it was an easy fix, took it in to be replaced and it was like brand new again. Samsung Service offered free replacement, as it had become a known issue with the Flip4 phone and it was still under the 24 month warranty.
I love the half fold feature when doing video calls, I can sit it easily anywhere and do video calls, rather than having to use a stand or hold the phone. Obviously the flip aspect is the key feature.
The battery life is OK, not brilliant, but I am not an extremely heavy user so I am OK with that. If you are video calling, calling or playing games or watching video all day, then maybe not the best options for you.
Fantastic for people who work as support workers – As a support worker after each shift you must write clients notes. This phone opens allowing better typing and writing and editing. Has features that are needed when you aren't in the office yet you need to email or sign paperwork. Show details · 1
Like it so far – Purchased a couple of months ago & really enjoying it so far. It has everything I need & love it folds up small to fit in my small handbag. Show details · 1
Compact phone which works mostly well – When this phone came on special I bought one to replace a Galaxy S10. The folding form factor is definitely an attraction, making it small enough to slip into any pocket, and the technology is mature enough now to work well. Samsung has promised five years of security updates and that is another plus. The folding mechanism is firm and easy to… Read more · 1
operate. The innner screen looks great and the crease is barely visible. You can feel it when you scroll but that's it. The outer screen has various widgets which should appear when you double tap and scroll left/right/down. You can answer calls on this screen and they go to speaker. Unfold the phone and calls go to the earpiece. Message notifications appear on the small screen but to read them you have to open the phone.
Recently I have been unable to wake the outer screen by double tapping, so something has gone wrong there, possibly a software bug. It might be fixable by reverting to factory settings but I don't want to lose everything so I am putting up with it for now. This is apparently not an uncommon problem.
Battery life and camera are fine. There is no micro SD card but I have the 512GB model so I don't miss it. It has 8GB of RAM which is plenty. The fingerprint sensor is on the power switch and it works much much better than Samsung's truly awful in-screen fingerprint sensor.
All in all this is a useful and innovative product and which gets lots of attention when people see it folding. My only concern is the cover screen malfunction. Perhaps a future software update will fix it.
Samsung Flip4 Problems – Be WARNED! I am a 64 year old pensioner and I purchased the Samsung flip4 on 29/12/22 for $1,498. Because of a screen fault I had to remove all my data and they replaced the phone on 21/01/23. I reinstalled all my data a huge hassle and not being paid for, travel, time and stress. On 01/07/23 I again had to return the new Flip4 after again… Read more
removing my data after a screen fault this time asking for a refund and or a different phone not a Flip phone because the Flip4 only lasting a few months. On 17/07/23 Harvey Norman stated they won't replace the Flip4 but they would repair it. I told him I don't have any confidence in owning a Samsung Flip phone as again in my opinion it will break again before the warranty expires and after the warranty expires. I asked the proprietor to get the phone replaced to another type of phone that does not Flip.
Harvey Norman send the broken phone to Tecworks, they rang and said they will repair the phone but will not replace it. I said what happens if the phone continues to become faulty because I had no confidence in that product. She said it's my problem and they would assess it, inspect it and fix it if it's their fault. No guarantee?
If I don't get my purchasing power back off Harvey Norman this time, and it doesn't look good so far? I will never buy any product off them again. Harvey Norman stand by Samsung a Corporation and not their customers. I will tell all my friends and family. Spread the word don't buy a Flip phone!

NO! I want a phone that works!
A major problem with the Flip phones is the Screen Protector which Samsung say they will repair this time. Free of charge? Even though the second Flip is only a few months old. What about next time? Endless repairs and stress. AND ATM I don't have the phone.
Update: Harvey Norman: "Samsung called the customer advising they have chosen to cover the cost of the screen protector even though the screen protector is a consumable item. To clarify the screen protector is not required to maintain the manufacturers warranty and can be removed and is designed to be removed and replaced as it wears."
Is that true? Everybody got that? The Flip3 stated removal of the screen protector would mean the Flip3 warranty was voided! On that basis that removal of the screen protecter does not void warranty on the Flip4 I will accept the repair because Fair Trading don't have any power to force compliance you have to get a solicitor and take them to QCAT. IMHO I will never buy any product off Harvey Norman or Samsung.
Subsequently Harvey Norman rang on 25 July 2023 to inform me my phone was repaired and waiting for collection so I went in on 26 July 2023 to pick it up and it had not been repaired. So I gave it back. No one is responsible for my time, really?
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 Review: Style, Durability, and Performance in One – The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is a revolutionary foldable smartphone that combines style and functionality in an innovative package. I have been using the 512GB model in Graphite for a few weeks now, and I must say that I'm impressed by what Samsung has achieved. The first thing that struck me about the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is its design. When folded,… Read more · 1
the phone is compact and fits easily in my pocket. When opened, the 6.7-inch FHD AMOLED display is stunning, providing crisp and clear images. I was also pleased with the 1.9-inch outer AMOLED display that lets me check notifications and take selfies without opening the phone.
The phone's durability has also been improved compared to the previous generation. The hinge design is much stronger, and the use of stronger materials in the construction of the phone means that it can withstand more wear and tear. I am confident that this phone will last me a long time.
The Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor and 8GB of RAM make the Galaxy Z Flip 4 a powerhouse of performance. I have experienced no lag or stuttering, even when running multiple apps simultaneously. The battery life is also impressive, lasting me a full day on a single charge. The 25W wired and 5W wireless charging capabilities ensure that I can quickly top up the phone's battery when needed.
The camera system, although improved, is still one area where Samsung could have done more. The 12MP main and ultrawide cameras take great photos, but they are largely unchanged from the previous generation. The 10MP selfie camera is good enough for most users, but I would have liked to see more improvements in this area.
The display crease is still somewhat prominent, which may be a drawback for some users. However, I quickly got used to it, and it didn't affect my experience with the phone.
Overall, I think that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is a great phone, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a stylish and functional foldable phone. The 512GB model in Graphite that I have is a fantastic choice, and I am very happy with my purchase.
Battery drains, phone heats up, poor customer service – Features are pretty much the same as any cheaper android phones, except this one flips to a smaller phone. I had the phone for a bit over a month and have noticed the battery only lasts half a day. When leaving the phone overnight without usage, 50% of the battery is gone. The phone gets hot so can't even put it in my pocket. I have used the… Read more
Samsung support service both over the phone and in the city Samsung store. They took a look but could not find any faults with it, made me jump through hurdles to show it's not my fault. I had to put everything on power saving, update every app, buy a new Samsung charger and cable. Nothing has worked.
Samsung advised that I need to get it sent to their place repair places but I will be without a phone for a few days and I would need to remove everything from my phone. It took me a week to set everything up from my old phone so I want to avoid this. Plus, if I did all this and set it to factory settings, it may only fix the issue temporary then I will have to do it all again when it happens again.
The Samsung service just does not cut it compared to iPhone service. iPhone would replace the phone right away if there was an issue so that I won't go without a phone for a few days. They would also help to put all the apps back in while waiting in store.
Very disappointed with Samsung selling faulty phones. It's my first time using a Samsung phone too so they have lost my trust. They should at least provide a charger if they are going to use that excuse when the phone battery is faulty. Greedy buggers.

Yes this could be the perfect smartphone – Looking at the new smartphone range I wanted something high end, but not boring and not easy to break. So glad I went for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 with 256GB. Yes its a flip phone, it folds in half. After several prior attempts Samsung have finally produced a winner. First, the phone looks simply gorgeous. The colours are very chic, and even… Read more · 1
the metal hinge is slightly coloured. With the OEM silicon cover fitted, the phone is easy to grab and still looks very high end. It feels very well made indeed in hand. There are several real bonusses with this phone, in addition to folding into a small neat package. 1. it has an extra screen on the back, which is on the outside once folded. It is a smaller but customisable touchscreen. and you can check notifications and control a few things without even opening the phone. 2. You can use the phone bent at a right angle as a no tripod camera for family pics, teleconference, whatever, and even using the smaller screen as a preview screen if desired, and 3. many of the apps have a "split in half" mode that works when the phone is bent (they call this Flex mode). Unique and brilliant functionality. Everybody's fear with folding phones is the crease and possible cracking at the crease with age. Glad to report that while you can see the crease if you look hard, it virtually goes away 100% during use. also, the Flip 4 screen is rated to at least 200,000 folds. Do the math and that is all good for 100+ folds a day for over 5 years. The battery life is getting better every day with use - I can happily get through one day without any anxiety haha. Two days might be a challenge though, time will tell. The Samsung smart switch function to move stuff from my old phone was SEAMLESS using the USB-C cable provided. One word of warning though, once that Smart switch process completes, your new phone will need about 30-40mins to catch up to everything transferred. The phone also uses high-speed wireless charging (with reverse wireless charging) and comes new without a charger, but with the cable and a SIM tool. It has to be folded to charge wirelessly. Camera quality is not something I am really into, but its is better than my previous S20 and I would say falls in the centre of premium phones for camera quality. Fingerprint is via the main side switch and is fabulous, with almost no errors at all. The vibrate function is really fantastic too, with real strength if turned up. Sound quality includes Dolby ATMOS (which I love) and scored 9.5/10 - it is not quite as surrounding as my Samsung tablet but very good. I find myself using the phone to watch things even when I am in front of my TV. The Flip 4 is just SO NICE to use - everything is snappy, smooth and glossy. If I had to pick something negative, it might be the slightly heavy weight. Its a tad heavy in the pocket but hey there is a LOT packed in there. NAILED IT SAMSUNG, GREAT PHONE.
