Great phone until you open it up to use it more than once. Phone is still under warranty and sent pictures into samsung and they said it should be covered as it's a known fault, and a quick google confirmed it. Sent the phone back to tecworks and they claim I've hit it against something multiple times, the phone has been utmost cared for and… Read more
rarely used opened maybe once a month then I started using it a fair bit opened to get some work done instead of a tablet and it started to pop the factory protector off the centre on each open and I was told to keep it on from the store and not put my own on and they could not put a new one on at that particular store at that time as the machine wasn't working. Eventually the touch stopped working then it crack popped straight down the centre on an opening. Tecworks told me it would be just under 1k to repair it which is more than the phone is worth (how convenient for them) I contacted Samsung and waited for a case manager to call me and Via didn't even listed to what I had to say but promptly told me were not paying for the repair and hung up in my face as I was talking, zero response since very poor customer service. I wish I'd looked at reviews before purchasing and samsung will definitely not be in my choice from now on.
Caveat Emptor – In September 2022 I purchased 2 new top of the range Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 mobiles. One phone was used by my wife and the other gifted to a relative in Greece. It was noticed my wife’s phone could not connect to the in house Wi-Fi or Bluetooth barely two months outside the prescribed warranty period. The phone was presented to the Samsung… Read more
Cannington business where the wife was targeted as a demented geriatric bunny [76 years old] and curtly advised the warranty had expired and that was the end of the matter. Upon insistence that although the warranty had technically expired she was protected under Australian Consumer Law. The Samsung representative retreated and upon inspection claimed it had been dropped. In layman’s terms it’s referred to as fair wear and tear. Is there a phone in existence where it has not been dropped? In any event 76 year olds are not in the habit of destroying a tool they rely upon for doctor’s appointments, communication with their grandchildren and children. Otherwise the phone was like new. Samsung admit in a text message “Our technicians have assessed your device and have found physical damage and issues stemming from a manufacturers fault” At no stage have I cried poor but do take exception to an incoherent and implausible argument. An amount of $930 was quoted by Samsung to repair the device which included an unnecessary impost for a new cover. The phone was again returned to the Samsung workshop on the 4th February with a fresh issue to do with charge up. To date [24th February] the device remains at the workshop with management refusing to discuss the matter or return the phone. At this stage it’s inevitable the matter will be determined through the legal system. In the meantime the second phone has developed a warranty issue and again Samsung has refused to discuss the matter. Summary While it operated the phone was useful however when a warranty issue transpired it was a nightmare. One has to deal with inexperienced teenage and senior phone salesmen who promote implausible incoherent arguments. Senior management hide and avoid communicating with customers. Best call the bluff and head for the legal remedy which I am advised I can win however it will mean I do not have the use of the phone for an inordinate period of time. Samsung are a ruthless outfit, dishonour product warranties and treat their customers with utter contempt. Stay away. Don’t believe, then scrutinise other reviews to do with Samsung.
What a great experience – We had an issue after 25 months and took the phone to Samsung Werribee Plaza, we could not believe how helpful the staff were ,fixed my Wife’s phone FOC and then they noticed my zflip4 so they changed the screen protector for free. They then sent a message saying that the phone was ready and sent it to us pre paid express post AMAZING We would never touch an iPhone again . Thankyou Show details · 1

Samsung's latest Fold blows away the competition – The Galaxy Fold 4 is the latest foldable device released by Samsung. I was previously using a Galaxy Note 9 which I had been my daily driver for 4 years. I'm wouldn't consider myself tech savie but I do enjoy my electronic devices. I have been considering getting a Fold ever since the first one came out. I kept passing on the first 3 Folds given… Read more · 1
that the specs did not meet my overall requirements. The Fold 4 then came out and I kept going to JB Hi Fi to compare and examine it against my Note 9. I think my wife noticed that I was doing all this reading, hesitation and all and so gave me one for Father's Day! One of the things stopping me was the smaller front screen (compared to my Note 9) and I kept justifying the inner screen by using a tablet. But after playing around with it for a day, I was totally blown away. I transferred all my stuff from the Note 9 and took me around a day to set it up the way I want it to work. I use it with Nova Launcher + KLWP (Live Wallpaper) with the present Audiophile. The outer screen is perfect for quick glances at the widgets for weather, agenda and the calendar. I have no difficulties in typing messages/emails despite other people having some complaints. The fingerprint scanner is blazingly fast, the stereo speakers sound fantastic. Opening up into the inner screen, I use it for reading my books, PDFs, magazines and cookbooks. Watching videos is great even compared to the tablet I was previously using. I'm not a gamer but I did try playing Call of Duty and the phone handled it with ease. Cameras are fantastic both for vids and pictures. I bought a Fold Edition S Pen from eBay for $25. Using that, it just opened up a whole bunch of possibilities into what the phone can do. My ever faithful Note 9 will now take a break and be my back-up phone. After using the Fold for 2 weeks now, I can't see myself going back to a slab phone.
A great phone but some things to watch out for – I only bought the Z-fold a few days ago so it's a bit early to do a review. It is an impressive but very expensive phone. It's working fine in every respect and as one of our cars doesn't have a built-in screen we found that by using a Samsung wireless charging bracket and Google Maps you get something equivalent to a built-in screen. I do use the… Read more
outer small screen more than I expected which is quite handy. It's bulkier than modern mobiles but not a lot more heavy. It fits fine in my pocket.
However, there are some issues you should be aware of.
1. I didn't buy a protective film for the small outer screen as the guy at JBHiFi advised me to get a dual film (large and small screens) which they did not have in stock. It turns out that Samsung recommends that you don't put a protective film on the large screen so I had to go back to purchase a film for the small screen. This is essential to avoid scratches as the screen is very exposed in your pocket.
2. My previous phone was a Samsung Note 10 which has a nice drawing pen fitting into the phone. It also alerts you when you leave the pen behind. This phone also has a pen (incompatible with the previous pen) but nowhere to store it. I purchased a Samsung case which has provision for a pen, however, the case stops you from using wireless charging on a Samsung charger and you have to swap the pen holder out for the alternative support legs to do the charging. This is very frustrating.
3. I have now had more experience with the phone and I realise how much I miss the incorporated pen on the Note phone. To accommodate the tablet format Samsung has made this phone long and narrow. When I use the smaller outside screen the keyboard is too cramped for my fingers so I mistype. This is not a problem with a wider phone or with easy access to the pen.
4. I was inspired to write this review as the result of a long chat with Samsung support. When I opened the box for the phone a slip came out advising me to invest in Samsung Care. This is really good as it allows you to swap the phone for a new one once a year for 3 years on a monthly subscription of $18 which is expensive. Still, if I had known about it and subscribed for my previous Samsung phone which started playing up before it was 3 years old, the subscription would have saved me a lot of money buying the z-fold.
The Samsung Care web page says you can sign up for the monthly subscription but when you try it only gives you an option for a 2-year subscription for $399. So after a lengthy discussion and several phone calls it turns out that the web page is incorrect and the monthly subscription option is only available at the time of purchase. I was not advised of this option at that time but Samsung pointed me to very detailed terms and conditions which state that I can only take advantage of that option at the time of purchase. Perhaps they want their customers to read the T&Cs before purchasing their products.I don't think it is worthwhile to take the 2-year option as faults are likely to occur in the third year especially in a device with an untried fold
The Samsung Care saga goes on. After several phone calls from Samsung, it appears that contrary to their website the option for 3 years cover at a monthly rate is only available if you order online and if you are trading in an old phone. None of this is mentioned anywhere on their web page and it appears to be a clear case of false advertising. Samsung is advertising a product as being generally available when in fact it is highly restricted in availability. Again they referred me to their terms and conditions. There is not even a footnote saying subject to terms and conditions. They are clearly offering a product on their Australian website which is not available as described. See the screenshot. Can you trust Samsung?

Innovative, great phone. Lasted 14 months – Purchased the Fold 4 2022, the phone had great battery life, big bright inner screen and great software to match. Outer screen is too small for typing but good enough for a quick feed scroll. The phone lasted about 14 months before it would randomly shut off when opening the inner screen. Sent the phone for service under warranty, Samsung offered… Read more · 1
a full refund only, no repair or upgrade due to availability they said. Anyway, I have purchased the Fold 5 now, I doubt it will last more than a couple of years.
Best phone yet though still away to go for perfection – This is an expensive phone but it is the best phone I have owned to date. When you fold the screen out it provides so much more space to do stuff on your phone and the fold section in the middle of the screen is barely noticeable when looking directly at the screen. The camera is amazing and the battery lasts even when taking lots of photos.… Read more · 3
Problems for the phone I have experienced are; the finger print sensor is unreliable and works only as it wants to which is annoying and the phone is a handful when it is open and you are holding it with one hand, it might be a struggle for people with little hands. The phone feels nice and solid it your and hand a when it is folded is quite compact which is nice as my previous big screen phones were a pain to fit in my pocket or phone holders. I had my last Samsung phone for 5 years and I am hoping that this phone will last as long.
Updated after just over a year of owning the Z fold 4; Inside (factory fitted) screen protector started to lift just before it was 12 months old. Now the screen protector has lifted down the entire centre folding part of the internal screen. Not impressed. Contacted Samsung support, not sure if I am happy about having to send my phone away for repairs. :(
Another update; Centre screen protector continued to lift. After doing a bit of research, ripped it off and ordered a hydrogel screen protector from ebay. I am hoping that it will do the trick. I am still very impressed with my Z fold 4, and would definitely buy another one (as long as I get four years out of it)
Yet another update; the Hydogel screen protector arrived from Ebay and I fitted it. It has worked a treat. I am all happy again :)
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4: The Ultimate Folding Smartphone for Productivity On-the-Go – The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is an impressive device that takes mobile computing to the next level. With a range of upgraded features, it's a great choice for anyone looking to stay productive on the go. In this review, we'll take a closer look at some of the device's most notable pros and cons. Starting with the pros, the new taskbar is a… Read more · 1
standout feature that really sets the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 apart. The taskbar makes it easier to multitask, allowing users to easily switch between their favorite apps and manage multiple windows at the same time. This feature is especially useful for users who need to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
The wider front screen of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is also a big improvement over previous models. The device's front screen now measures 6.2 inches, which is wider than the front screen on the previous generation. This makes it easier to view content on the front screen and adds to the overall usability of the device.
The brighter main display is another key selling point of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. The device's main display now features a peak brightness of 1200 nits, which makes it easier to view content in bright sunlight or other challenging lighting conditions. This is especially useful for users who need to work outside or in other bright environments.
The upgraded 50MP camera is another standout feature of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. The device's camera now features a larger sensor, which makes it easier to take high-quality photos and videos. The camera is especially useful for users who need to take professional-quality photos or capture high-quality video footage.
Finally, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 boasts longer battery life than previous models. The device now features a 4400 mAh battery, which provides plenty of power for all-day use. This is especially useful for users who need to stay productive on the go and don't have easy access to a power source.
Despite its many pros, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is not without its cons. One of the main drawbacks of the device is its thickness and weight. The device is quite thick and heavy, which can make it difficult to carry around or use for extended periods of time.
Another potential downside of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is its under-display camera, which is just 4MP. While the camera is useful for video calling and other basic tasks, it may not be sufficient for users who need to take high-quality photos or capture detailed video footage.
Finally, the crease on the device's main display is still visible, which can be distracting for some users. While the crease is less noticeable than on previous models, it may still be a turn-off for some users.
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is an impressive device with a range of upgraded features that make it a great choice for users who need to stay productive on the go. While the device is not without its drawbacks, its many pros make it a top choice for anyone looking for a high-quality folding smartphone.

Flawed design and bad support – Same experience as others here with the flawed design and bad customer Support. The internal screen is damaged from the fold and I haven't dropped it ever. It is due to the folding (of a fold pho e). When I took it to support they found some small scratches behind the fold and told me it is dented and out of warranty and need 1100$ to repair it.… Read more
What a joke, few years back a flagship phone used to cost that. Didnt expect this from a 2700$ phone which won't even last through the warranty period . The support guys are so trained that they directly turned the phone, found a small scratch and recited it won't be repaired and it is heavily dented (see the atrachement a decide for yourself). Same with the technicians finding as expected too. It is a scam at this point. If I can't even drop the 2700$ phone on the desk and the fold area can't even be protected with a case or anything, how am I expected to practically use it?
It is 1 years and 8 months since I owned it, but will be requesting a refund since it is a design problem (don't bother with 5 and 6, still the same design and wont last) . Samsung need to stop this series immediately and figure out if it is even practical to use and then start selling for close to 3k. For confirmation just read other reviews.
Do not buy a Samsung fold – I purchased this phone in February 2024, brand new and within 4 weeks the phone cracked down the middle. Which appears to be a common crack, however the next time I opened the screen it cracked across the bottom to which Samsung used to say it was my fault. They sent me to a dodgy place to have it reviewed which were allegedly specialists however… Read more
they declared I closed something in my phone as there were indents on the outer edge. The phone screen was very bumpy at the best which disappointed me at the time of purchase. It is not physically possible to close something in the phone and leave dents on the identical outer spots as by the law of physics the item would slide into the centre fold area and/or out the bottom. I asked for the certificate of compliance / factory checked for my specific phone and none has been supplied. I was effectively sold a sub part phone that broke immediately. Phone was treated being treated with kid gloves. My previous phone was 6 years old and in perfect condition as I look assured my phones. This situation has caused me great anxiety. DO NOT BUY A FOLD

Poor product failed after 18 months. Unsatisfactory customer care – The phone was fine for the first 12 months. Then the inner (open when unfolded) screen protector started peeling and that's when it started to become an issue. - Contacted Chermside Samsung store to get the screen protector repaired, they said it was going to take min. 2-3 business days, which was unacceptable for me as I rely heavily on my phone… Read more
for work. My work is important, that's why I can afford paying $2700 for a phone and being without it is not an option.
Then I was told that if I went to their repair centre in Banyo, they may have been able to replace the screen protector on the same day. I called them and they said the screen protectors where out of stock. So I just gave up at that point, keeping the peeling protector on.
- After 18 months, the phone started to have issues with the screen just dying (look up on google an endless amount of reviews about Samsung's "black screen of death"). Which ended up in my phone totally dying within 2-3 days and not turning on anymore.
Samsung store Chermside accepted my phone for repair under warranty, which took 3 business days to be repaired (not bad). I have now been with no personal phone for a week and had to borrow a phone for basic calls and messages.
Then, rather than sending me the repaired phone via mail (as agreed in store), I get a text message today, saying that the phone is ready to pick up at the store, which is 45 minutes from where I live. Obviously something went wrong in the store's communications with the repairer, and the fact that the phone should have been mailed out to my address was overlooked.
The above resulted in a 45 minutes call (waste of time) with the Samsung CS to request the phone to be mailed, and at this stage, no one knows when it will be delivered.
Overall, with consideration of the product's cost ($2700) and how we all rely on phones these days for so many things, including work, but also other essential matters such as banking, proof of ID etc. I am greatly dissatisfied with the product, Samsung's customer care and the inability of Samsung to provide reasonable options to mitigate the disservices and inconveniences that their EXPENSIVE products cause due to the products' own FAULTS.
Now after I will hopefully have the phone back next week, it will be formatted, so I will need to spend half a day setting it up again (further inconvenience). Then, in 6 months' time, the phone will be out of warranty, meaning that when this issue will happen again (a matter of when, not if) it will just be good for scrap. I am now preparing to figure out which phone I will have to purchase next, when the Fold 4 fails again and is out of warranty, but I am sure it will NOT be a Samsung.

from opening and closing. I still have a Samsung Care Plus cover but useless because of Samsung repair claim process and their customer service team overseas is uncapable and unable to help. Every time I have called, they used scripted process and prompts that got me nowhere. They even use a false statement that there is currently no parts available for my phone model or that colour. When I've checked with their authorised repairer and turnaround time for screen replacement is two days but it would cost me $850, so there is parts available when you pay cash. Also, They have lied that my phone has been repaired when it wasn't, see photos below. My phone hasen't been fixed since September 2023 till today. Apart from the phone, I have many other house appliances from Samsung (tv, fridge, microwave oven, PC screens, etc.), but that won't be the case ever again. up to 10 DAYS with no phone. No replacement phone and no compensation - 10 DAYS. You WILL need to backup EVERYTHING, yes everything before the phone goes to the repairer. You WILL then need to restore EVERYTHING once you get the phone back. Samsung decide if you are at fault. You have no way of determining if they are assessing it fairly.
I was tricked by the wording "concierge service". There was very little customer after sales service. I had to do the work, I was without the phone and all the inconvenience rested with me.

Problematic folding screen – Purchased in December 22 and was great until October 23. repair agent and was then subsequently advised that no parts were available to effect repair. Was advised by Samsung in early December that a refurbished unit with a similar spec would be provided. My original Fold 4 was in excellent condition and I'm hopeful I'll receive a unit that is as good as my original. Overall, really disappointed that my Fold 4 failed as the device was an excellent concept and functioned really well prior to screen issue. I'm not confident that I'll get a good long term experience with the refurbished unit(when I receive) but I can only hope. UPDATE Finally received my refurbished replacement and all seems good with unit. Well packaged and unit seemed without any wear and appeared like new condition. Battery is functioning as if it were new and no complaints generally. Unit was express posted but typically Aust Post took a week to get it delivered from within WA but that's no fault with Samsung. Special mention should go to Techworks as Samsung repair agents in Perth, really good service and always kept me up to date with process so special acknowledgement to those folks. My previous Note series phones have been excellent devices and all but the original(note 1) are still in service and functioning well. From the reviews I read and from my own experience, I would not recommend any folding screen phones as durability appears to be a real issue. I'll likely return to the Ultra S series when I need to replace the Fold 4. It's disappointing as it'll be difficult returning to a single screen device. Samsung service is OK but there is much room for improvement. Generally they would contact me via phone within a day or two but follow up with email was not forthcoming. Repeated attempts to get written conformation of process was without success. In summary, I'm looking forward to putting this process behind me as it hasn't been a pleasant experience. FINAL SUMMARY Great device with some questions about durability. Hopefully I can get reasonable life out of current Fold 4 and if so I would likely move onto latest Samsung Folding phone despite the durability risk. These folding phones are just a revolution after using a large traditional phone. Also the stylus is such a bonus that it puts Samsung out there as the best folder in my view.

Great phone, till the fold crease started peeling off - 11 month review – The Galaxy fold 4 was a great phone, till it wasn't. To break it down - it had excellent performance, good battery life, ability to use multiple windows quite seamlessly, worked well with an S pen, and I was able to use most of the productivity apps well. noticed that the fold screen guard (the one that comes installed with the phone, and the one that is not supposed to be removed) started peeling from the top of the crease. I spoke to customer care, who then advised me to bring the phone in. In the three days that it took to bring the phone into them, the guard was peeling quite a bit and the fold was making a sound when folding. They took it in, then had my phone for about 4 weeks, before they told me that it was a "manufacturers error", and that the "part to replace it was unavailable". I was left without a phone for a further 2 weeks from there. Overall - 6 weeks without a phone, no further communication, and this is all despite me having "concierge service" and "Samsung care plus with swap".

Simple enough but WHY do I have to do this after spending $2000... to get continued use of my business phone (I wont go into the difficulties of transferring data but suffice it to say I have now decided there wont be a Fold 5) We have owned a Fold 1, 2,3 and now 4 Our Loyalty wont extend to a 5th give Samsung's approach to fixing the issue

After that I waited for an update, there was none, I spoke to chat support multiple times and they gave me nothing other than to say they have escalated and a case manager will be in touch in 3 days. I ended up getting in contact with the 3rd party who does to warranty repair, and they told me there were no parts in stock and I'm waiting for a case manager to get in touch. It's been 2 weeks without a phone, for a premium $2500+ handset I really expect a better warranty experience.

inside screen randomly cracked one day, samsung says not covered by warranty – about 9 months into use i opened the phone and a black crack down middle of screen. I did not drop or damage the phone in anyway, purely just opened and closed it. samsung claim not to be covered by warranty as they dont cover warranty on the hinge? how can they not cover one of the core components of the phone, never going to buy from samsung again Show details

Rubbish phone – Purchase the phone from Harvey Norman 11 months ago. Phone would not open fully. Returned to place of purchase, sent to samsung. Received a call trying to replace the phone with a reconditioned unit in another colour. Replied I was not happy. Samsung offered my purchase price back. Did not cover the case or extra money paid for screen replacement insurance. There must be a major problem with the phone if they do not have new replacements. Show details
Folding phones are a silly idea – Good battery life, fast and does not get hot. Outperforms my old Pixel 6 pro significantly. Resistance to dust is bad and its not a phone that should go anywhere near a beach. I'm sure the design will improve. Does everything I want though and the narrow front screen is surprisingly useful. First samsung I've had where the proprietary software… Read more
does not interfere.time will tell re the folding mechanism - not convinced it will last. Update and it didn't. Lasted 11 months then screen started losing pixels, screen protector lifted and won't fully open. First and last folding phone

Very bad product – I bought this phone in late October 2022, and after 7 months, a problem occurred with the screen, and it was fixed after suffering with Samsung, and after a month the same problem returned, and I want a refund, and I sent it to maintenance to get my money back, but they told me that it was fixed, knowing that I informed them I phoned that I want… Read more

Don't say you weren't warned – My Fold 4 barely lasted 7 months before bricking. When unfolded, it will glitch and screen goes black. Closing it eventually restores the screen after one minute but functionality like Wifi will not work. You then have to soft reset the phone to get it working, but you must keep it folded or it happens again, so effectively you're stuck with a… Read more
phone that has a smaller screen than other smart phones.
Geniuses online say to factory reset it but that did nothing to help the problem - in fact it caused me a lot of stress restoring my Apps. and logins. If you're into burning money, then I highly suggest buying this $3,000 brick they call a smart phone. It's back to Apple products for me. I just hope they make a similar device that unfolds for a bigger screen which was the main selling point of the Fold 4.
-100/10 product and -1,000,000/10 customer service from Samsung.
Love the phone, however – The phone is awesome. I find it highly versatile and it definitely suits my lifestyle. However, after recently sending my phone to the Samsung repair centre for a dead pixel - Samsung lost it. What's worse is they seem completely incapable or unwilling to help. I have contacted them via, phone, email chat support and through there online portal.… Read more
So far, nothing, it is seriously like chasing your tail. The same response each time, we will contact you within 2 business, I wait 2 days, nothing - rinse and repeat. C'mon Samsung, I genuinely love your products, not so much getting screwed over by your customer service.

Dont buy samsung galaxy fold 4 Awful BULKY HEAVY design! – I bought the hyped up samsung z fold 4, sadly the mobile phone is UNPRACTIBLE!! For starters when folded its so heavy when holding to text, so uncomfortable! So bulky in small bags when carying it!! The folded screen is not wide enough for some websites and the writting is on top of other writting. If you play games on folded phone for 30-45mins… Read more
the back overheats!! The night camera NOT as hyped up to be as picture quality ain't great! The care+ that you buy extra is a rip off it states you get 2 swaps per year for the 24month (but when you read fine print you get a refurbished swap NOT new product!! The amount of money paid is NOT worth the product you receive!

Inside screen cracked – Had the Fold 4 for two months. Opened the inside screen, and heard a cracking sound. The inside screen has cracked along the crease from top to bottom. Samsung is refusing to replace the phone, saying it is customer-caused damage. Do not buy these phones, they are not reliable and Samsung are terrible to deal with. Show details

Don't buy this phone! Otherwise you can't use any other phones again – I have never been a fan of Samsung. But decided to go with Galaxy Z Fold 4 as I couldn't find any other water-resistant folding models from other brands. This phone has changed my perception of Samsung. Well done Samsung! If you only do browsing, social media and a few emails per week, this phone might not be for you. This phone shines if you need… Read more · 1
to do more complex stuff on your phone. I need to answer around 20 emails per day and work with applications that have complex UIs (such as our accounting software). I would always use my laptop for such tasks, but now I do most of them on my phone. I can do a bit of accounting or write long emails easily on the phone while I'm in the bed. Having said that, this phone is not flawless. The main thing that annoys me is that the screen in folded mode is small. Typing on that screen is not very easy, and you will make more typos than you would on a regular smartphone. I think Samsung should make the screen larger in the folded mode to make this device a perfect phone. Also, the battery life could have been better. I'm always on the phone, and if I don't charge it in the middle of the day, my phone dies at 7 pm.
