Z Fold 5 - Bought May 2024 Dead Dec 2024 - cracked along interior fold – Purchased JB HiFI May 2024 - dead by December 2024. Interior fold screen has developed 'bubbles' all along the fold line. Took it back to Samsung at Mt Gravatt who first told me, no warranty as the interior screen protector had been removed - yes, only to see if it was just bubbles beneath the screen protector and not the actual screen. They refused to take it. I then got onto the online chat with Samsung who said removing the screen protector did not void the overall screen warranty. So I took it back to JB HiFi where it was purchased. The staff there did not want to take it back initially either, for the same reason, me removing the interior screen protector to check if it was just air bubbles beneath the protector. I then showed them a printed copy of the online chat transcript where the Samsung consultant clearly stated that removing the screen protector only voided the free replacement screen protector, the overall warranty for the screen still applied. JB HiFi staff then went over the whole screen to a ridiculous degree, eventually pointing out what looks like a small pin size indent in the top corner of the screen, no where near where the bubbles in the folding part of the screen first started appearing. They then told me it was not a warranty issue as they believed something had been closed in the screen. I said this has never happened. The cracks (air bubbles just started appearing up the middle of the folding screen and got bigger over time. They did not want to send it off but I insisted. So they filled out the warranty form to Samsung saying that they believe the damage was caused by me! And guess what Samsung have come back saying they are not going to cover the screen under warranty despite me having the phone in a hard case which was purchased on the same receipt as the phone, and despite me never damaging the phone. Quoted over $1000 to fix. After now reading other reviews, I have realised these phones have a known issue with the folding interior screen. And Samsung have a known history of shirking warranty claims for it. All the positive reviews that I read are from new owners, a few weeks a few months, I wonder if they will be so happy in say 6 month or 12 months. Damage to the folding mechanism is not uncommon. Z Folds are a costly gimmick. Do not buy one. It is a waste of your money. Samsung will not honor their warranty, they will find any small mark, anywhere on the screen, and use it as an excuse to say that you did the damage yourself. Sadly Z Folds are only fit for landfill. Save your money. Spend it on a good phone or tablet, not a gimmick that claims to be both and not from a company who shirks their consumer warranties as routinely as Samsung does.

Purchased in at JB Hi-Fi for $2,799.

Great office in your pocket – A great phone for the working person, it's a mini tablet in your pocket. Great to have the split screen function while working on documents.

Purchased in at Optus for $3,300.
