Love my washing machine – I have had this machine for 9 years now and haven't had any problems apart from replacing the door handle once which cost $10. I use it on average twice a day, 7 days a week (with 5 people in the house I have to!) and the clothes come out clean, my friends want to know the secret to getting all the stains out! I do use the 30 min quick cycle… Read more
mostly but sometimes add a bit of temp and spin with certain clothes and the handwash cycle is a godsend! Love this machine and will definitely buy another Samsung when the time comes to replace it :)
Excellent machine, no failsure or leaking in last 4 years – I have it for 4 years. Have to say it is a great washing machine. The washing is always doen well, and it never gave me a single failsure nor leaking. the only thing sometime bother me is the lock last a bit long (2-3 minutes) after it finish but for most time i don't care. good quallity, washing well, time delay, child lock nothing
I have been extremely happy with my front loader. :) – .In 7 years of owning it only replaced a belt in it. Water pump may be on its way out but 7 years am happy with replacing it. Problem with the door but I brought a new handle and replaced. What product is made to last this long these days? Happy happy happy with your product Energy and water usage is little

2 major repairs over 10 years – This cost $799 in 2007. It's now 10 years later and this machine has had 2 major repairs & many minor issues in which a home handyman can tackle. We use it 4-7 times per week. When it was 2 years old, we had the main circuit board replaced under the 2 year warranty. When it was 7 years old we got a new motor ($300) then when it was 10 years old… Read more
the door handle failed causing the door to remain locked. Woolley Appliance Services said that this the door handle failure is a fault known to Samsung, so even though the machine was years out of warranty, Woolley replaced the handle for free since & Samsung honoured the replacement - cudos to them.
Over time, on 2 or 3 occasions, the machine developed a terrible knocking noise - especially noticeable when on spin, but tightening up the centre bolt of the flywheel seems to always fix that. We have replaced one belt and had two split pump hoses - one in year 2 & again many years later, plus the fabric softener never seems to become dispersed from the tray.
The most common maintenance I have had to perform is when the machine stops pumping - it's always been due to foreign objects fouling the pump impellor - so you might need to clean the filter in front of the pump every year or so. Wolley's say to run descaler through the machine once a year.
Washing quality is OK, but smelly sports clothes really need to be pre-soaked for a few hours or overnight before washing. I really like the timer since I can set it to wash around midday, when i am not home, in order to benefit from our solar panels.
This Samsung definitely beats our lousy LG front loader which died just after the warranty expired.
I'm about to replace my 2nd door!! :-( – I've lightly used this machine, usually selecting the 'Quick Cycle' as the others take hours to complete. That's not my annoyance, the problem I have is with the door. The handle snaps too easily and your clothes can only be rescued by a long screwdriver prying it open. I'm about to get my third door, but it will be the last, I definitely will look to a different brand when it's due to be replaced.
Annoying machine. Door broke easily – The lock system is so frustrating. Avoid this model! Costing us lots of money to repair. The door mechanism snapped under the slightest of pressure while it was locked. Now all my clothes are stuck in there till it can be repaired by a professional. Very annoying and not worth the fuss.

Top little Machine Love It – Mine is a 2007 J1045 front loader and it hasn’t missed a beat There are 3 boarders here and it really gets a real workout every week, the drain pump died last week which is a common one to nearly all makes cost me $18.00 that’s it .., I’m going to put brushes in the motor new drum stabilisers and springs and that’s all after 16 years and I reckon it will last another 16 !!! Samsung you’ve got me for life !!!!!!! Show details · 1
This Samsung front loader is hands down the best electrical appliance I have purchased – Bought my Samsung J1045 in 2007- my first experience with a front loader washer & cost $749. We are a family of two now and these days the wash loads range from not really soiled to slightly soiled, but in previous years, the machine has handled very soiled & greasy loads as well. I have found the variety of washing options very useful and use… Read more · 1
the bedding cycles regularly, as well as the delicates, hand wash & rinse & spin cycles regularly with great results. While I was still working I also found the Delay start option very helpful, but I don't really need the option now. Being able to choose the temperature & number of rinses in a cycle is also a big PLUS. I have no complaints with the performance of this machine. Had to have the main circuit board replaced at the 5 year mark, but cost was reasonable at $110 including labour. The door lock froze in the the locked position once and needed a repair man to unlock. Other than that there have been no other repairs. In the last 2 years the pump has started making noises when pumping out the water, so I initially phoned the repair man who said not to worry until the noise is too loud, and he will replace it. However it is still going strong and the noise hasn't really increased in 2 years. Also the machine has been making a 'dull thunking' noise when the spin cycle first begins- with heavy items or a large load in the wash bowl. I have been told the rubber supporting the wash bowl is loosing its strength. This has been happening for at least the last 2 years & slowly getting worse so we have started looking for a replacement. None of this has affected the wash performance in any way, & prior to these latest noises, the machine was so quiet I had to look to see if it was running. The spin cycle is a different story, and I liken the sound to a jet engine. However, this has never been a problem for me as the laundry is away from the living & sleeping areas. To say that I have been very happy with all aspects of my Samsung is a gross understatement. If I am able to buy the same product 13 years later I will be doing that.
Good machine, bad door handles – Cleans well Reasonable use machine from very regular use (4 children family now, almost daily use) Had it for 10 years, replaced door handles every 12-18 months, but bought spares and do it myself Finally broke the door latch, needs a screwdriver to open now, but still operating well Good water efficiency Show details
Terrible Machine.... Used while house sitting – I am using this machine while house sitting for 2 months (currently week 3), and this machine is terrible. My mum has a top loading samsung and she has no worries, I have an electrolux front loader (older one), this is terrible in comparison. I would have expected better from Samsung. THE BAD : 1) They use virtually NO water. Enough to coat… Read more
the clothes.. They come out smelling like B.O and cologne like they did before they went in. It builds up a horrid smell which I can't get out. Pewwww.
2) Fabric Softener doesn't dispense properly. I spent 1/2 an hour cleaning the entire drawer trying to find out why the fabric softener won't dispense via the Siphon. I open the drawer and pour 1/2 a litre of water to flush it out.. Bit Inconvenient.
3) The Balance before the spin including Inter-Spin's. It does an inter spin at the end of every wash and rinse which isn't a problem. but the time it take's trying to "balance" or slowly spinning up and stopping. Seriously. I have checked the levelling, it's stable and level but has trouble balancing taken up to 15 minutes on one load i did.
4) It isn't a quiet machine atleast this one isn't. Quite loud on spin cycle's and has a distinct quite loud motor hum.
5) The Door Lock - After the cycle has finished it makes me wait up to 10 minutes before the door unlocks. It's a bit antagonising... What is it trying to do?
THE GOOD:
1) Has a quick cycle which I can select 60°c.. Never been able to do that on any FL I've used before.
2) You can add a "Favourite" Cycle..
Terrible Machine. Will make sure I never buy a Samsung FL for myself.... Quick Wash has 60°c. You can add a favourite Cycle Read Above..
Money gobbler – At 2 weeks old it started to leak from underneath, was repaired under warranty, then at 2 months the pump failed and was repaired under warranty, then at 2 years the door lock and pump went again, and now at every 1-2 years the pump fails like clockwork, has cost us a million in repair and call out fees, I should have dumped it at the tip the first time it broke and save money. Avoid
DISSAPOINTED – Had this for 4 years and not impressed. Had a question and contacted Samsung Customer Service - once they confirmed it was out of warranty they refused to answer question advising they would send a technician around at $75 call out fee. Trays are flimsy and break easy - and leaks far to frequently The idea of a front loaed was appealing It's a front loaded, Customer Service is poor at best, more trouble than it's worth
does the job – I have had this machine for about 7 years now. Not the greatest wash but it does the job and still works, except my towels don't come out fluffy so i take them to my parents house... The timer/clock is good but often spends longer on certain tasks, especially towards the end (e.g. it says 9 minutes to go but will actually take about 20). … Read more
Otherwise, the only real problem I have had with it is the outlet hose cracked after about 6 years and needs replacing - an easy fix. lots of wash options only has the option of full or half load.

Product is Fickle – Have had this washing machine 6 years now. Quite a few leak problems. The door child lock is a pain in the backside. Now my daughter has broken the handle trying to open before the lock released - it takes 3 minutes after the washing machine has stopped. I wouldn't buy again. Energy efficient. Expensive, fickle, too small for a family.
It's a dog – Nothing but problems with this machine after 2 years. Water pump replaced, 2 control panels replaced within 2 years, the belt replaced, it leaks and the bearings are going. Have spent too much money on repairs even with an extended warranty. I would never buy Samsung front load washer ever again.
Why did I by Samsung again????? – Problems with door not shutting and then refusing to open, our wet washing was locked in the machine for 4 days until we could get the technician out to indentify the problem, this was within the first 12 months. Now the unit refuses to drain.....again (second time in 24mth) so it looks like I'm up for a replacement drain pump. Expensive & un-realiable
Dissappointing - 4 repairs in 5.5 years – The problems range from simple - machine door not closing tightly (easy to fix) to comforter being left behind to bigger issues- when clothes left soaking without being washed for 24 hours (and cant get technician until 4 days later) and now, the latest out-of warranty issue is the water doesnt fill on most commonly used cycle. It only fills on… Read more
rinse and spin cycle. We have been 6 weeks using this only cycle and manual old-fashioned soaking due to Samsung's loss of documentation, slow response and now, slow finance approval to give us part-refund on the machine.
I expected more from Samsung brand. I dun know if we got a lemon or washing machines are NOT BUILT to last anymore. I am so wary of getting another one. spin cycle options, child proof locking, timer to set wash in early morning slow customer service, required too many repairs, not built to last
Excellent washing machine – I really like my Samsung front loader washing machine. Its energy efficient and reliable - never misses a trick! Not overly expensive from memory and I like the preset features that do my thinking for me. If its bedding, towels, doona or delicates there's a function. You can even customise your own by starting with a preset and tweaking it. I've… Read more
never had any problems with this or any of my other Samsung products actually! The delay start and the child-lock are used all the time.
Can't go wrong with this one – Washes brilliantly and has a variety of functions, including a quick wash mode in case you need to wash something in a hurry. It has been very reliable so far and has a ceramic heating element which will lead to a longer life. So far I have been very pleased with this product which is almost 5 years old now. Reliable and washes well
Definitely not for holiday accommodation – Manage 16 apartments. They were equipped by a Gold Coast company. No service agent on Magnetic Island. Large piece of concrete in front of machine to keep it stable. Has to be shipped to Townsville for service. Can't get clothes out when printed circuit board breaks. Have another front loader at home and it has never missed a beat in over 7 years! Too automated!!!
Terrible – So after draining the water i tried again and same again. I then decided that i would contact Samsung service centre. They advised that the unit was out of waranty and that i should contact one of the authorised repair agents. I contacted the repairer and after $75 dollars (which i must say was money well spent thanks to an excellent repairer)… Read more
I got told that the unit has a problem that EVERY SAMSUNG J1045 suffers eventually. The door loom and interlock burns out and the machine will no longer work. In this repairers opinion they should have been recalled. Samsung advised all repairers how to fix the problem and most units were failing before 2 years but for those of us unlucky enough to be out of warranty we were up for $300 dollars to repair it. After contacting Samsung 4 times and explaining my story for 25 minutes each time i had no luck. I was told to fax a copy of the report from the repairer to samsung. I asked for complaints and they said the best I could do was write a letter. By mistake i found the head office number and called it and they asked if i wanted service or you guessed it complaints. Of course i opted for complaints spoke to a great advisor who advised that Samsung would cover the parts and i would have to pay labour to have it fixed. I agreed and have since contacted the ACCC regarding a recall of this item and a to lodge a complaint. If you suffer this same problem please contact the ACCC and also call Samsung head office and try and get the parts covered. Supposedly the more complaints the more likely a recall. I hope this helps someone out there because i nearly threw my machine to the tip and got a new one. Oh and another thing my repair agent said he would by nothing but ASKO if buying a front loader as they last forever and are easy to repair. Was good for the first 2 years and then...... Please read below if you have had problems with your machine. It may help. At 2 year and 4 months old our machine filled with water and then started making this terrible crackling noise and kept coming up with DE ERROR - Drum empty. I had to then manually remove the water (very painfull). See below for more details.
Decent machine – bought in March 2008. and its been running flawlessly ever since, nothing replaced. haven't need to replace anything. although the bearing are starting to get loud during spin cycles. the estimated time left is inaccurate but the washes are good, as long as you force it to rinse at least 3 times to get rid of any mess left by the powder. pretty much everything. bearings starting to get noisy at this stage Show reply

Good – We have had this machine for 3 years and so far so good. Although having read the other reviews this machine does not seem to have a particularly long lifespan. The quality of the wash cycles are good however, and my clothes definitely last longer in a front loader compared to a top loader. So far this machine has been adequate. I do worry about… Read more
the lifespan of the machine though as it is now starting to make a few 'new' noises. We shall see. Efficient water use, can adjust number of rince cycles, spin speed, water tempt plus specific modes for towels, etc Water and debris has started to accumulate around rubber door seal, spin can sometimes get off balance, long wash cycles (except 30min cycle). Cannot manually adjust water level.
This machine drives me crazy! – The filter cloggs up way to easily, the door seal has been repaired twice and the pump has just gone for the second time. The timing on the machine lies!!! It takes longer to do a wash than it says. I will not be replacing anything else on this machine as the warranty is out, and about $100 dollars per part, the best idea is just to move on to… Read more
another machine. Won't buy another samsung. I have many other samsung products in my house that I have no trouble with. I think this machine is just a dud.

This is not a washing machine – From six months in I've had the door mechanism repaired, the door motor replaced, the door repaired, pump replaced, countless problems with the machine unlocking the door, draining, finishing loads.... Honestly, Samsung have failed here and have since discontinued the product. No brainer why! Of course this machine is energy and water… Read more
efficient! It doesn't work!!
Samsung, you have lost a customer, and I have advised over 4 thousand people not to buy Samsung washing machines so far. There goes your 1:10 ratio!
Just think how many people I will be able to tell in my lifetime, considering I am now mid 30's!
I have called Samsung before my warranty expired and after, and the response to return my machine to where I purchased it was useable.
Disgusting that companies get to treat customers this way!
I wrote a review while the machine was still under warranty, and after 4 hours fighting with it today, its time I remind people not to buy Samsung washing machines.
If you buy a whitegood in the future, check what the 'under warranty' service delivery proceedure. If it is to return the item to the place of purchase, run! Energy & Water efficiency Design, Electrics, Service, Warranty terms.
Door Loom and lock fails every 2 years – Very bad design, slow, noisy. Won't even touch a samsung machine again. My door lock and loom has failed for the second time. This time the PCB has fried as well which will cost more than the machine is worth. Seems to do an okay wash job, despite the noise. Door lock fails every 2 years, also fried the control board this time.
Won't get another Samsung - Door latch broken, minor leaks – Our J1045 has worked fairly well: Pros - Can select quick cycle, then lift the temp and add extras rinses and change spin speed without too much extra time, so no need for long preprogrammed wash cycles. Cons - Sometimes load won't balance - machine makes awful knocking rather than stopping - vibrates so much it moves. - Sometimes it dribbles… Read more
on floor underneath (not all the time though).
- Detergent dispenser doesn't clear all the time - and the fabric softener compartment works in the sink when you test it, but never in the machine.
- Door latch is thin plastic pulling against the metal catch. If you have a teenager that doesn't understand "delayed release" on the lock - it's a goner. Rather than repair you should consider repairing the broken plastic part by using a piece of angle aluminium, cut and drilled to match the catch. Glue it in place with plenty of araldite and...
...consider selling before something else breaks !
Poor engineering design in the part most likely to suffer from human wear and tear...
you can't make something moron proof, ours is 5 years old and never missed a beat
Terrible – Do not buy this product as it is a faulty design and Samsung do not care about doing right by their consumers on this! Drain pump failed after only 24 months and Samsung refused to pay for the replacement part. It cost us NZ$131 to replace the pump. Samsung NZ flatly denied us a request to pay the cost
Good – I have had this machine for 3 years now and the only problem I have had is hairpins jamming up the filter. So of course now I check carefully all pockets before throwing clothes in the machine. I am giving this machine to our son for his unit and are replacing it with another. Looked at the the Bosch but appears too small (at 6.5kg) and the door… Read more
opening is also very small. Think it wise to stick with what I know except now I'm buying the Samsung 8kg. The clothes come out clean, with no lint on dark colours. I also like the fact I can change temperature and spin speeds Dirt does tend to get stuck around the rubber door seal and on the glass door. You have to be really careful that no hairpins or similar get left in pockets or it jams up the filter.
Terrible – I reviewed this machine on 25 March 2010. At that stage, the machine had been out of operation for 10 months (it died just outside 2 year warranty). However, I was still optimistic that it could be repaired (even though I had been pursuing this for 10 months). Camtec (Samsung's authorised service agents in Perth) finally managed to bring all of… Read more
the parts that I had already paid for (Interlock Switch & PC board) and repair this washing machine last week. However, 1 day later (after 1 wash cycle), it is again not working. Clothes stuck in machine and error code 1E.
I initially gave up on this machine in September last year and bought a Miele. However, having already spent $408 trying to repair this machine, I gave it to a relative hoping (and expecting) that they could get some use out of it.
After 11 months and 4 service calls, Samsung's authorised service agents have still been incapable of diagnosing and repairing this machine. This has been a complete waste of more money! Who can live for 11 months without an operating washing machine?
I previously rated this machine with 3 stars for its features and ease of use. However, its 2 year lifespan and non-existant service/support from Samsung and its authorised agents make this washing machine an unacceptable option and extremely poor value for money.
Around $1,000 purchase price plus over $400 for repairs for 28 months service = $50/month. I bought a Miele last year for around $2,000. Miele expect their washing machines to last 20 years. Even if it only lasts 10 years without major repairs (half their expected life), it will still provide extremely good value at $16/month!
This washing machine is of unmerchantable quality.
Don't waste your money on products that don't last a reaosnable time and brands that can't be bothered providing adequate support for their products!
Products like this should be subject to additional taxes/levies for the inevitable landfill they will contribute after a very short operating life! Was easy to use Broke down after 2 years (11 months ago).
Has never worked since despite 4 service calls and over $400 to repair it.
Poor/unprofessional service from Samsung's authorised service/repair agents.
Absolute lack of support/interest from Samsung Australia.
Terrible – DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE!!! It may seem a good machine if you only need it to last about 2 years. However, after reading the reviews (wish I had read this site before buying) it is only designed to last a short period then you continually may the same price each year to keep it working. After paying $105 to be told it would cost another $220 to fix… Read more
have decided to cut my losses and buy something else (not a Samsung) it washed ok where do i start had 2 service visits in the warranty period. Then at just over 2 years old the control board has died and it will cost about $300 to fix.
Terrible – Very poor warranty/technical support customer service, I would not get a front loader again because of all the problems. I think Samsung cannot fix the problem so they are trying to ignore me so now I have to do something about it... 5 months is way to long to wait for them to fix a problem and at least phone back with a solution... now works after replacing the board but the washing machine now squeaks occasionally during washes...
This is my first and last front loader washer The Fabric softner that I want to use for my babies clothes (I never used fabric softner till I had the machine for just under 2 years) leaves water in the dispenser with every wash and also does not dispense it all into the cycle even when watering the fabric softner down with vinegar. Samsung warranty & technical support people (including manager [name censored]) do not return phone calls since april 2009 till 25th september 2009 I have rung many times during this period only to find they closed the query on the 24th September so I go through the whole process again as they have said with this machine you are supposed to clean out the fabric dispenser after each cycle which will waste time, money & weaken the dispenser - this is not written in the manual.
I also had the board replaced so that the 1/2 cycle worked and after this there has been sqeaking sounds this too samsung have not commented on or fixed while it was under warranty it is now under an extended warranty luckily but this job order was placed when it was under warranty with samsung.
I was told that this is the case with all samsung washer fabric dispensers from samsung warranty customer service [name censored]
This model also does not allow you to open when in the wash cycle to add more clothes.
Terrible – Overall it is a CRAP washing machine. DO NOT buy one of these machines. Samsung are crap to deal with. Avoid them like the plague worked well for a few monthswater conservative, good programming malfunctioning after 18 months light work. having a fight trying to get some sense out of Samsung. DONT BUY ONE.noisy spin cycles, lots of virbration.
