Long life – 8 people in my house constant washing 3 loads a day some times. Bought in 2006. Moved 6 times in that time a d it just keeps on working. Has a slight leak now. And today the door handle latch finally broke. Yay time for an upgrade. Happy with this machine though Show details
12yo and keeps going! – Washed every day for 12 years! Replaced 1 belt, 1 shock absorber spring, 1 door switch, 2 handles and reattached hose twice to detergent holder during that time. Parts cheap. easy to fix. Rust is starting to it now unfortunately. Important to get balance right. I use 30min quick cycle which is usually enough. Show details
fantastic – I bought the washer 'second hand' for 300 in 2011. it hasn't missed a beat for 5.5 years and i do not have any qualms with its ability to wash clothes, is robust and a good unit. I am the second owner of this machine. Have been very surprised at its reliability and has some good features, like delayed start and half wash(normal type features… Read more
for any. but still very surprised at its performance in the past I have had Italian ariston which was more refined ,yet for a cheap second hand machine am very impressed
Negative reviews
hopeless in winter – Had this since new. Its fine most of the time, but it cannot handle flannel sheets. Even washing them one at a time, it errors on the spin cycle, and has to be manually drained. That in itself is a pain in the neck as the drainage hose is almost on the ground and goes all over the floor as insufficient height to get a bowl under.
Challenging to repair – Great efficiency re water usage we were on rainwater and it met our needs and cleaned washing well. I have had to replace the door latch pin twice the first time when just out of 3 yr extended warranty - samsung distributor did fix at n/c. The $1 and $2 and 20 cent pieces continually got stuck in pump - ok he should check his pockets and tipping… Read more

Not the best machine I've owned – I bought my Samsung J845 second hand for $200.00. It was about 2-3 years old then. At first it worked fine, and then the door handle snapped clean off when my housemate's dopey mother tried to force it before it had unlocked. In my opinion it should have been able to handle that amount of pressure... Anyway, the timer on it was terrible. On a… Read more
quick wash, with two minutes left on the timer, I would walk away and come back 20 minutes later and it would still have 2 minutes left on the time...!? It is an EXTREMELY loud machine, especially when in spin cycle, would wobble and shake and throw anything sitting on top of it to the ground (sometimes breaking things). It would almost walk right out of the laundry (despite the fact it is a VERY heavy machine). Constantly unbalances the load resulting in error messages and cycles stopping half way through. It eventually died last week. On top of all of this, I have learned that I will never buy any Samsung product ever again because they all like to sing a song for a good minute when they're turning on / finishing / turning off/ whatever. I like a peaceful home and have too many Samsung products in my house making it a noisy home. Was a good price because I bought it second hand. Worked well for about 12 months despite the broken door. Everything wrong with it, see above review.

Cheap and Cheerful – I bought this machine from a factory seconds shop 12 years ago (2008) I can't even remember if it was new or refurbished but was $649 and it's still going strong. Even lived outside in a shed for 5 years of its life with the door open 70% of the time. I am quite impressed it still works. Needs a new detergent draw but that's the only issue I have had. Good but need to change belt at 9th year – Changed motor belt at 9th year, replaced waste water pump, water heater wire burnt out so reconnect after three time using. 13 years it is still good. All parts available from Ebay- authentic parts Show details · 1
Decent wash but has its issues – As far as washing clothes go it does a pretty decent job. I toss in the dirty clothes, they come out clean, and thats all I really want it to do. We use the quick wash cycle 95% of the time and in 30 mins I'm hanging them out on the line. I bought it second hand 2 and a half years ago and I have to say its generally been pretty good but has… Read more
had its issues in that time.
I've replaced the pump after the first one died so hopefully this one will last longer.
The door latch broke so I replaced the latch with one I got from another machine. Seems to be a common problem with these washers.
The soap dispensing hose that runs from the detergent dispenser to the drum became clogged with soap scum and the laundry flooded with water. Unfortunately its not one of those things you can easily check. You have to remove the top cover of the machine, unscrew and remove the detergent dispenser before you can get to the hose. Once I got it off and cleaned it the machine went back to working fine.
Hard to say how much longer it will do the job but when it dies I probably wont buy a Samsung again. Will probably spend a bit more and get a machine with proven quality.
Cheap but keeps sgoing – I'm surprised by the negative reviews. Maybe we lucked out. We bought this washer approximately 10 years ago and it has always just worked. Only found these reviews now as an obstruction had loosened the impeller off the pump spindle and was looking at whether it is worth fixing. Considering we bought it as a temporary cheapie I really cannot fault it.
Saves On Electricity And Water – I don't understand so many people say their machine has so many problems, I have never had any issues with my Samsung 7kg front loader, I even washed my doona, it came out so clean and never had any problems while it washed. In all the years I had this machine, moved 3 different locations, including a caravan park, once I seen the error message… Read more
and that was my own fault. I was in a hurry and threw the washing in and started it without looking I shut the door and didn't push the bit of sheet in properly and it was caught in the door, of course the error came up, soon as I saw this was the problem, I turned machine off and waited for the minute, open the door, pushed the sheet in, closed the door and turned back on. I was so lucky when I bought this machine, not only did I buy this at a huge sale, I was also eligible for the $200 cash back. This machine has been worth every cent, it has water and electricity saving, even half wash available for those little items, why they discontinued this model I will never understand, I just hope they have replaced it with similar product, one that goes and just keep on going just like this one!
Been A Good Machine – Bought new in 2007, $600deal. At the time back then this machine represented good value in early front loader days. Easily use it 4xWeek, mainly on quick wash but change temps according to washing needs. All other functions are way too long really. Washes very well, detergent powders all used up, liquid softer all used up, clothes come out… Read more · 1
clean. Water usage good.
2013 machine stopped half way through wash, pop noise then electrical burning smell. Rang Samsung and I was overly nice to the person I spoke to, they sent a Samsung repair man 2days later fixed the circuit board - no charge ! happy. 2015 now, and in past two months only the 'cotton' setting works. If you try to wash on any other setting continuous error message. So, still goes fine really put i'll start saving for a replacement.
Can honestly say we've had a good run and Sumsung customer service was good.
Love this machine! – Cannot believe the bad reviews on this machine. It's my 3rd experience with a front loader and the best by far. I do agree with the door comments though, after 5-6 years I do need a new door latch but machine still works at the moment . I just give it a firm push to close. To me - a minor problem easily fixed. Excellent on water and detergents.… Read more
I use the quick cycle often rather than the longer cycles but change the water temperature depending on load being washed. A very good washing machine in my opinion.

Loved this machine! – Ok, so I've read many of the below reviews and I can't believe all this happened with this machine! I have had this machine for 6 years and no joke use it a minimum of 10 loads a week (not even exaggerating here!!!! We have a big family!) and I have never ever experienced anything wrong with this machine! I have had a few E4 error msgs come up… Read more
over the years but it was easily fixed by moving the clothes around a bit. it would have happened no more than 5 times all up. For a machine that was used constantly all week for so many years I am grateful I got as much life out of it as I did. Yesterday it sadly konked it. Half way thru a cycle it stopped and I could smell something burning. I'm guessing the circuit board is fried but I guess it's to be expected if something that old was used 10 times a week!!! It's reliable, quick, easy to operate. Thought it was a great machine!!
Bought in 2007 died 2013 – Must have been lucky after reading these reviews! Our Samsung bought for $550 (cash back) from Binglee back in 2007 had just died Oct 2013. Probably did 1-2 washes a week on average over 145 months in a two person household. No issues with Door, seals, or leaking water. Just worked, didn't clean as well as my mums 6 year old Asko, but good enough for $550! lasted 6 years, adequate cleaning Average cleaning results Show reply
Samsung Front Loader Washing Machine troubles – I purchased my front loader only 4 years ago, first the door closer broke, yesterday had the fan replaced and did a load & all was good then, the next day it powered up but the control button wouldn't turn. This machine has cost more than it was worth. Wouldn't buy another Samsung again. I have noted so many people with Samsung have door broken… Read more
issues. Samsung you need to build a better machine, as people will not come back and buy your products again. In the end, nothing Broken door clip, stretched fan belt, then control dial wouldnt turn.
Good Product – Been very good as we have 2 small kids, so load after load, we have had it 5 years and its just started playing up , I was only expecting 3 years out of it, I didnt buy it to save water , I bought it to wash clothes , easy to use, easy to maintain the timer would say 30 mins left but it would take around 45mins Show reply
Waste of money – I paid $800 for this machine in 2007 and I have just replaced it. It worked well for the first year and then it failed. I did take out a five year warranty and I needed it. After the first year it broke down three times, first time they fixed it in our home, second they tried again and told me it was fixed but it failed, finally they had to take… Read more
it away. I got it back two months later, main issue was the main electrical board, and waiting for spare parts. I spent a fortune at the laundry mat and then finally the "beast" was back.
After they delivered it and I noticed that they had damaged the door in transit. It was also full of mould they had left the door closed for the whole two months they had it. Two weeks ago the door would not open, after an hour of searching on the internet I did find that if you get a kitchen knife in between the door catch and the handle ( plus a person pulls on the handle) it will open every time. Lucky for us when they replaced the damaged door in 2008 they gave me a new handle the repair man said "you might as well keep this the handle will break they all do." It worked for a week, then started over filling, code errors and then would not spin.
The other issue that I had for the last three years was greasy marks on my clean clothes, at first I thought I had missed stains but soon realized that I had not and very annoying after you have spent time and water washing something to then find it covered in marks. Did this to my sons school clothes and most often on other dark clothes as well. I tried every thing, have always kept the machine clean, used carb soda and vinegar all the time, tried running cycles with bleach and finally worked out it may have been from using the cold water cycle.
The "beast" is gone and I am so happy I will never buy a Samsung washing machine again. For a lemon, it still looked new, not a mark or a scratch or a dent I looked after it. My mum has the same machine, hers is a couple of years younger than mine, but she has had it fixed twice already, so I gave her mine and between the two off them she might get another year out of hers. Fuzzy Logic They should have a "lemon" policy
Works like a dream! – Our machine is wonderful. We spent a whole of $250 on it second hand after it was reconditioned and since then, it hasn't missed a beat and that was about a year ago! The 30 min quick wash is exactly that, you don't get an amazing wash for heavily soiled items but for standard wear items works great! Some people complain about the door not… Read more
releasing when the machine is finished its wash cycle, this is a safety precaution, read the manual people! it releases after a minute! Clearly says that!
Don't come on here and bad mouth a decent washer, you try any other front loader washing machine and try washing 6 full sized bath towels and see how it goes! I wash full doona's in mine and while it needs to be the only thing in there, the only thing that can handle anything more than that is industrial washers. Reliable, great wash, water and energy efficient
Samsung J845 - Not worth a dime – lasted 4.8 years without issue, then had issues with door so had to buy and install new switch Then had lots of problems with error 4e, after cleaning the filter and the water valve I could see no issue that is related to this error. Pressure on my cold feed was fine, so it had to be the pressure switch has died or the PCB, both of which are… Read more

For the price I paid for this back in 2008 I would of thought I would of got a bit more life out of it as I only used it twice a week maximum.

5 years life and then doom – Easy to use, good settings but very problematic, Had mine for just under 5 years. The door lock went first, I managed to fix that myself, but now the dreaded 4E error. I have cleaned all the inlet pipes and valves on the unit but the error is still present and the pressure is fine from the tap so this means either the PCB has an issue or the… Read more
pressure switch has gone. It's now not economical to repair so i am in the hunt for something more robust. To be honest I have hardly used it, maybe 2/3 washes a week maximum. For the price I paid I would expect a longer life cycle Easy to use Many functional errors with unit
Terrible Washing Machine! – I have owned this machine since 2008 and it is RS.6 months after we brought it, the door lock started smoking. use the "quick" cycle and cloths come out just as dirty the only difference is their wet, 7kg machine, but put anymore than 3 or maybe 4 towels in and they come out smelling like wet dog. If it says "Samsung".. put your wallet back in your pocket and walk away – This washing machine produces wonderfully vibrant colours and spotless whites, unfortunately just like everything else Samsung make (phones, tablets, cameras, tvs etc) they have managed to ruin their product with a few simple design flaws which could have been easily avoided. broken, after searching the internet for a solution it has become apparent that most owners of a Samsung J845 are having the same trouble and none seem happy with the replies they have/haven't received from Samsung Tech Support.
In a nutshell; no Samsung product is worth your money. Great wash results Bad warranty service, poor design, every unit is guaranteed to be faulty
Sounds very familiar
Total Rubbish! – I bought a front loader to save electricity and water. I paid extra for longer warranty. The day after the warranty ran out, I started having problems. The conditioner was always full of water. I lowered the water pressure but it changed nothing. The whole frame leaked water if the pressure was up too high. The door handle broke. bad (I did all the right things and it still stank. I took to putting disinfectant in my rince cycle and that fixed it).
The clothes were dripping when the cycle finally finished. The timer was not correct and I had to wait at least an extra 10 to 25 minutes to to get my still dripping clothes out (so much for saving energy). And now when I do get them out, they are not washed! How can I tell? There is stiil dirt marks in the same place and they still smell of body odour. I have changed my washing fabrics but to no avail. I will never buy another Samsung. I am going back to the old top loader. You can open your wash in the middle of a cycle, you can get a clean wash, and you don't have to break your body trying to get your clothes out or empty filters and drains.
The conditioner compartment, the door, the leaking, didn't clean my clothes, left clothes sopping wet.
the poorest white good i ever bought....very disappointed – I am on a disability payment and needed a washing machine. I took out a loan through the council for people in hardship which is interest free and had to pay $20 per week for over a year to pay it off. As soon as I paid it off, which means the year warrenty was up, it broke down and it was too expensive to fix. I am still without a washing machine… Read more
because I need to pay off my centrelink loan which i took out to buy my computer before I can apply for another loan for another washing machine.
Having a servere bone disease, I have to walk to the laundromat and do only one 5kg wash because of the pain it causes to walk too much. I'm appalled by the fact it took me so long to pay it off and now I'm in a terrible position financially before I can afford another washing machine. I would love someone to suggest a washing machine that lasts years and I did read the above information on top loaders which I intend to buy when I can afford it but a brand would help. However, I do not suggest buying the above washing machine I bought and which has placed me in a terrible financial position.

totally bizarre engineering fault is that the filter is after the pump impeller. Let's not worry about protecting the impeller, let's just make sure we protect the laundry tub. You can guarantee that you will miss a two dollar coin that is the perfect size to stuff up the pump
It think the Samsung engineers must have had a bit too much fermented kimchi on the day they designed this. Do not waste your hard earned money on this. When it works, it did wash the clothes ok. Everything. Poor engineering and design
anyone know how to do a short cycle, seems to take 2 hours to do a wash.
Poor Quality – I bought this front loader, to save water, as we only have rain water tanks. and while it did perform on that level, it has dissappointed me on other levels.. one year down the track the door starting leaking, so now there is a pool of water in the laundry every wash, 2 years down the track, it started making a terrible sound while spinning, like… Read more

No way are we going throw any more money on this crappy machine and never Samsung washing machine again.
Ps if you get an offer for extended warranty from the manufacturer or reseller - I say go for it !! best $100.00 you will ever spend!! Considering a call out is between $70.00 and $90.00 alone it's stupid not to take extra warranty out 2+3= 5 years - from now on that is what I am going to do.
Electrolux front loader is the next choice ( with extra warranty ) Inexpensive Quality

Many good things but not all perfect – Love these front loaders because they do not leave your clothes in a tangled mess at the end of the cycle. However, I miss not being able to add items to the load once the cycle has started. Spin only option not very good at all as clothes still dripping wet when cycle finished.
Don't buy it! – Continuing problems with the door handle breaking, door not closed error and the machine stopping mid cycle then not being able to get the door open to get our clothes out. Constantly have grey oily marks on our clothes. Have tried all front loader detergents and do not use fabric softener anymore as this leaves a fatty buildup that attracts dirt and clings to your clothes. the new part. What is the point? Samsung - you should never have decided to make washing machines because you Suck at it. Seriously. Nothing. Whatever you do - never ever buy a samsung washing machine. They make TVs. I rest my case. this machine had problems RIGHT from the start. I had to get a whole new one in the first month of owning one - and then it was consistant issues. The latest being the control board which (including the cost to have someone come out and say 'its the control board") was over $500. I could have got a new machine for that amount. Seriously - do not buy this machine.
