A reliable machine for many years – We bought this so long ago, we're not sure if it was before or after 2010...possibly 2009... It replaced a top loading machine that we'd also had for ages and had rusted out, but we wanted something more water efficient that could also wash large items, like doonas. We found it on sale, just under $1000 at The Good Guys. Once we got used to the… Read more · 3
(much!) longer wash cycles and not being able to throw in the odd missed item, we were very happy with how it cleaned our clothes, and quickly worked out how to tailor the cycles to our needs. While the cycle times will vary according to the options you choose, I've found the time is usually reduced if it senses a smaller load.
When the machine was just out of warranty, the drain pump motor failed. I was pretty ticked off (only 2 years old!). BUT then I found a repair video and it seemed like an easy fix. I opened up the machine and found it had not one, but two pumps and they were both fried. It was easy enough to replace both pumps and the machine worked better than ever afterwards, which makes me think that one had stopped working not long after we got it, or even before. Not happy about that!
Since then, it's been working reliably and used regularly until just last week, when it stopped spinning mid-cycle, with an 8E error. I think it's the MEMS/vibration sensor, so I've bought the part and will be replacing it soon. Again, it looks like an easy fix and much cheaper than getting a technician out or buying a new washing machine. If that doesn't fix the problem, I'll call someone in to assess and repair it. After so many years of reliable service, it really owes us nothing.
I've noticed a reviewer said it's sensitive to imbalance - our laundry has a wooden, very slightly bouncy floor, and the washing machine has worked well in spite of all the vibrations and imbalance caused by it, though it did move across the floor at times. Using a rubber mat has helped reduce this a bit, but it's not as good as sitting it on a more solid base.
We've been pretty happy with our washing machine overall and I'm surprised it's been discontinued.
Another 3E error victim after 5 years!! – We've had the machine for about 5 years now and in the last 9 months, it's been having the 3E error issue. It's already out of warranty so we can't claim anything. We contacted a service guy who said it would cost us about $650 to fix the motor and control board which seems not to be worth it. Rubbish machine, no wonder it's now been discontinued!!
11 years of service – We purchased the Samsung WF1104XAC front loading washing machine approximately 11 years ago . It has had the control board and motor replaced 3 times in the first 7 years ( under warranty) and water pump this year. It started making loud banging noises and chewed out the door seal filling the drum full of smoke. I thought it was the damper rods… Read more · 1
but it wasn’t, it was a broken internal mounting bracket inside the drum that’s connected to the pulley. Apart from electrical and mechanical failure it has been a great washing machine.

Will NEVER buy another Samsung appliance again.

10 years and still going strong – Had this machine 10 years and thought I'd leave a review as I have nothing better to do at this point in time. wash spray to avoid disappointment. In the 10 years we have had the machine we have only replaced the motherboard, which fried last Christmas when the power kept cutting in and out. This only cost us $150 and hubby replaced it himself. The cycle times are not very accurate. It will say the wash will go for 1 hour 20 mins but it's probably closer to 2 hours - so one think I do like is having a timer option, so I can set this to come on during work and it will be finishing up as I get home.
Very reliable and run like a champ – Great machine, after 5 years and still running like a champ. We bought it in a local shop with a reasonable price of $1225 Australian Dollars This washing machine was purchased because of its large load capability (10kg). It was one of the biggest around. ability to wash gentler and better. It really does wash gentler. It has plenty of different modes but we choose to wash using the "My Cycle" which does a full load in less than one hour with 3 rinses and spin dry at its fastest rate of 1400 rpm. Clothes are almost dry when done. Overall I am very happy with it

full load in less than one hour with 3 rinses and spin dry at its fastest rate of 1400 rpm. Clothes are almost dry when done. I wouldn't have cared so much about writing a review on this machine, but I was really impressed with Samsung's after sale support with their repair. This machine from about the 2nd year we owned it, had occasionally been throwing a 3E error code. Turning the machine on and off would clear it and then we would simply just rewash without too much problem. This in the last year however became more regular and eventually couldn't wash without it throwing the code, sometimes up to 3 times. Our clothes were super clean by the time it finally would finish. After doing some research trying to see if others had the same problem, I noticed throughout his website that quite a few people did. On suggestion from one reviewer telling everyone about the known problems with this machine's 3E code, I rang Samsung who were really helpful and got back to me and booked in a service technician to come out and have a look. This technician ended up replacing both the motor and the motherboard of our machine on the day and we have since had no problems with it all. This machine was also just over 5 years old! A big thanks to Samsung for looking after us.

Not worth the premium price. Samsung produce substandard appliances – Spending $1,159 on a washing machine was on the express claims by Samsung that this was high quality, that Samsung prides itself on providing marketing leading “premium, innovative products” and that this particular machine came with a 10 year warranty on the motor. When a company offers a 10 year warranty on something, you expect that other parts… Read more
of the machine would also have a similar level of longevity.
Earlier this year, I went to empty the load of washing that I had put on the night before. When I put my hand into the machine, instead of washed and spun clothes, my hand went into cold, dirty water. The machine had apparently stopped mid-cycle. There was no error code on the display, in fact the machine would not turn on at all.
I phoned Samsung and was directed to speak to an authorised repairer, which I promptly did. The authorised reparier advised that the motherboard had failed and would need to be replaced (at a cost of $700 or more).
The motherboard was already replaced (under warranty this time) in 2017 so the new one is only 3 years and 3 months old.
I'd love to know how the self-proclaimed leader in consumer electronics, can have the ELECTRONICS component of a washing machine simply fail twice in less than 7 years!!
I phoned customer service multiple times to request the repair be covered as it was clearly a manufacturing defect, and despite being promised that my complaint would be escalated, I never even received a call back. I have simply been ignored hoping I will go away. When I put it in writing, I got a cut and paste response from their customer experience team apologising for the issues with my DISHWASHER!!! That's right, they declined my request to remedy this issue without even bothering to read my email and consider my case.
I’d like to draw your attention to what a reasonable consumer believes the life span of a washing machine to be.
Multiple global points of reference around the world, point to the AVERAGE lifespan of a washing machine to be 10 years. You would expect that a washing machine costing more than double that of the average machine, would last more than 10 years, and absolutely more than 7 years.
Other points of reference state the average lifespan to be 14 years, based on the assumption that it should be able to complete 5,100 cycles (which equates to one load of washing a day, every day, for 14 years). Note again that this is AVERAGE expectation, and for a high-end washing machine like what Samsung is claiming, you would expect that to be even higher.
I can guarantee that in 7 years I have owned this machine, it has has done less than half of the expected 5,100 cycles.
Further to that, if this fault was a mechanical failure, I could understand there may be some sort of perception that “wear and tear” may have played a part here. But this is and ELECTRONICS FAILURE! And it's the second time it has happened!! There is literally nothing that I could have done that could have impacted this through normal use. This is a MANUFACTURING fault, by using substandard electronics parts in the machine.
I consider myself a reasonable consumer, and had I known that a major appliance, from a market leading ELECTRONICS company, would have its electronic component fail after such a short period of time, I would NOT have made the purchase.
I highly recommend others learn from this experience and DO NOT TRUST SAMSUNG with your hard earned money. Buy elsewhere.
Motor problem - washing machine lasts only 4 years? – Bought in Dec 2016. Keeps getting error code 3E. I was surprised that so many other reviewers have highlighted reliability issues with this model. Called the Samsung service center and they told me it is out of warranty. Isn't the motor supposed to be under warranty for 10 years? Told me to contact repair center at my own costs. Show details
MEMS error – Bought Machine in 2014. Had repeated errors for years. Samsung replaced some sort of Electronic board in 2019. Now same problem. Samsung tells me they will not cover it free of charge. The agent who came to fix the problem in 2019 told me its a recurring problem in lot of machines and told me it can happen again, I should have gone with my old Bosch brand or LG, Never had a fault.

I had an LG previously which lasted 10+ yrs without any issue and changed to Samsung when I moved home. Samsung cost more but I wanted to spoil myself in my new home. 3E motor error - Twice in 6 years disappointed – Purchased June 2014. 3E motor error occurred in 2017 and Samsung promptly fixed this free of charge. 3E error happened again last week and based on other reviews it seems everyone is getting this bang on every 3 years. This time Samsung won’t pay for a diagnosis of the problem or pay for labour to repair. However if the motor was determined to… Read more
be the culprit Samsung has agreed to pay for the motor part only and not for labour to replace the motor. When I purchased this machine I placed faith in the 10 year warranty on the inverter motor which was advertised with a sticker on the machine (there was no mention that labour was excluded).
Now I have a “3E motor error” that clearly states this is a motor issue and Samsung still requires me to pay for the cost of diagnosing the problem. - I don’t think this is reasonable given the machine is just a tad older than 6 years and has broken down twice.
I would reasonably expect a washing machine at this price level to last longer than 6 years.
For me it’s not so much about the cost but rather the principal. I placed trust in the brand and the product and took the plunge as we all do when we purchase white goods. I am disappointed that Samsung has not held up their end of the bargain for the consumer.
If I had known that I would experience these breakdowns and warranty limitations I would have not have bought this machine.

need, so we wouldn't overload the machine and hoping it would last longer. It's obvious it was a hope set to be tarnished.
We've got the error once a few months back and thought it was just an isolated issue. Until the machine starts completing cycles without proper spinning and I got the 3E error again a week back - then I found a whole lot of complains about this error online.
I then contacted Samsung and was told it's out of warranty that they will not be fixing it, which I'd be out of pocket for all parts & workmanship expenses - only the inverter motor part would be covered by Samsung (exclude workmanship though).
The machine is slightly over 6 years and I'd expect to get more life out of it than this for the price we paid, considering it's has never been overloaded (PS: I handwash half of my clothings as I do take extra care of my stuff).

the motherboard replacement. The same local contracted technician replaced it three times and it became a running joke with him and I about the 3E error.
The third 3E error motherboard replacement was in early 2019, and this one actually occurred after a long period of the machine deteriorating on the spin cycle. It started making an awful coarse sound and the spin cycle was so deafeningly loud that I could hear it from the other end of the house -- and it wasn't because of vibration either.
The motherboard was replaced again by the technician but I mentioned that I thought the motor might be on its way out too. Within 4 months of him replacing the motherboard, the spin cycle just refuses to run, so I'm left with a load of soaking wet clothes at the end of each wash.
