fast but crappy design – bought one of these to replace my decades old Sharp microwave which was starting to rust inside and was maybe half the power so took longer to heat stuff up. After all, I think Sharp invented the microwave oven, so a new model should just be better - right ? Wrong - while being twice as fast to heat up which is better, using this is a PITA. The… Read more

digital display - which on my old one simply displayed the time - all the time - on this one blacks out when you're not using it - so thanks for removing that useful feature - not !

The most basic functions - pressing the touch button for Start/30 seconds heat - on the old one was simply that - the touch button worked with a gentle finger touch. The new one - requires about 2-3kg of physical force before it registers - so with growing impatience my habit now is to stab at it forcefully - so easy and satisfying - double NOT !!

then just opening the door - I think the old one had an actual pull handle - with opened easily and quietly with a gentle pull of the handle - this new one doesn't even HAVE an effing handle - you have to stab at the door button - which again requires a substantial physical effort at least 2-3 kgs pressure - whereupon it suddenly springs open with a loud noise - pity if someone was sleeping nearby - you'd wake them up !

Oh - and the door spring release means that it can spring open and hit you in the face if you're not careful - so again - quality design. Low, low quality. Not only that - but unlike my old Sharp which opened maybe 180 degrees, this one surprises first time users by only opening 90 degrees - so when it springs open with the punch-door button, and you reach in, it can then hit you in the face when it bounces back off the hard 90 degree stop - gets you both ways !

Was this designed by a man ? I think so - not for a gentle woman's touch.

Was it designed for cut-price accountants - I think so - I won't be buying another one.

The reason I did choose this one was it was about the only one with black text on white - most others I found were had unreadable text like dark grey on black background - What is that all about - the opposite of obvious - is cool ? Not for me - it gets me hot under the collar.

So I'm using this - stabbing it like a man - building my muscles - so I'm ready to bash up someone - was that the design plan ? If so it's working.

door slams with a loud noise too - you can't close it with a gentle click - that's by design.

Good value – I'm happy with the product. I know that I have it within a cavity without enough surrounding space so I leave the door open for a while to let steam dissipate. And, I'm always getting electricity cut off, so don't care about clock setting fading. In fact, it probably saves me money.  Show details ·  1

Powerful Clasisic Style Sharp Microwave – I got this for two reasons: 1/ I trust Sharp - they have been making microwaves forever 2/ It outputs 1100 watts - significantly more power than many others. I read review before purchasing, so I knew what to expect and I am well pleased with the results. Its cooking time is 30% faster than my last one and I really like the simple classic uncluttered design. Good unit, good deal.  Show details ·  1

Lovely micro microwave! – We got this for our caravan based on 1/ its compact size and weight 2/ its powerful output 3/ Sharp reliability. I am more than happy with it. It is small but very fast to cook and has simple clear menus. I trust Sharp, they are a proper Japanese band and I cannot ever remember having a bad product from them. Good unit!  Show details ·  1

Smaller size but very powerrful – This is a little powerhouse of a microwave - I had to adjust my estimates of how long to cook things because its got a much stronger cooking output than our last one. Its easy to use, well laid out keypad and menus and just over all works well. It might not suit a large family due to the smaller interior space but I find it just right. Very happy with it.  Show details ·  1

Better than the price suggests – We chose the Sharp R-330 based on its low price but its performance has been equal to a microwave more than twice that. It is easy to use and efficient to cook. The ONLY negative - and it is just a personal niggle, is the clock doesnt stay illuminated when the microwave isnt in use and you have to touch a button to see the time. For most people… Read more ·  1

that probably isnt an issue, but we dont have any other clock in the kitchen and are used to using the microwave time display for that purpose. But I admit I am being picky and the R-330 is wonderful value.

Powerful Smaller Microwave – This is only a standard looking microwave but it is very powerful for its smallish size at 1100 watts. It cooks really quickly and can thaw the largest lasagna without trouble. I like it because it has the traditional look without being too flash or over the top. The menus are very clear and make good sense - I didn't even need to read the manual… Read more ·  1

to get it going. Its very suitable for a couple although larger families would probably prefer something bigger. It suits me well and I think most people would be happy with it.

Display – I brought this Sharp microwave for my Mum. I don't like this Sharp microwave because the display only displays the time of the day for 2 minutes then you have to press the clear key to display the time of the day for another 2 minutes. I don't like this feature at all  Show details

Time display disappears after one minute – Usually come here to check on a product before making a purchase but this looks like a new model so i took a chance on a brand I'm familiar with and bought it for a Mother's Day gift. Set it up only to find that the clock disappears after one minute. I thought it was defective so i contacted Sharp and they told me it's meant to do that and it… Read more

is a new power saving feature.

I said that's all good and fine but you never mention it on your website, on the box or even in the manual and the retailer knows nothing about it.

You need to press any button to see the time again - but 60 secs later goes blank

When cooking, the timer works as normal.

I ain't hauling that back through the car park again, up the escalator and through the mall back to the store - we'll just have to lump it.

Not the microwave to buy if you rely on it as a clock also. Have not used for cooking as yet.

Retailers get ready for the confused customers and returns!
