Shun set, Absolute rubbish !! – Three knife set, all blades delaminate at edge where metal has been layered during manufacture , You would swear you were using a serrated knife. Had a professional sharpener have a look, he seemed horrified, ground the edge about 2 mm and sharpened, beautiful !! One month later, all blades back to being serrated !! Contacted sharpening guy, he… Read more

said there must be a metallurgical fault in the metal and I was wasting my time and money persisting with theses top of the line, Shun knives .

If you only ever buy one knife! – I have been cooking in my kitchen for 30 years and if there is only one piece of advice I was allowed to give it would be this: right from the start, save up and buy a Shun cooks knife. Why, because with care it will last you a life time and so the cost is practically nothing. You will use it every single day, and it will be a joy to use. They… Read more

remain sharp and with a few swipes of the sharpening steel, it is back to its sharpest best. At around $230 - 260 cost, divided by at least 10 years - the cost is so negligible that it won't matter. The joy of cooking with a quality, always sharp knife is a joy to behold. And once you become proficient with it, you won't need all of those kitchen gadgets, you'll only need one - your SHUN. I used an inferior knife for 15 years and was driven crazy with bluntness. I wish I had parted with the cash years ago. I bought a second one, just so I'd never be without when one is unwashed. One hint, because of the sharpness of the blade, the tip is more delicate than say a Wusthoff, so don't chuck it into the sink. As I finish with it, I wash and place on my magnetic board up and away from clumsy folk. I also have a rule that NOBODY is allowed to use my knife. Finally - the aesthetic of the knife is a joy.It is beautiful to look at, perfectly balanced in the hand, and lovely to cut with. For My kids 18th birthdays, and as they leave the nest, they will each be presented with a Shun as a right of passage into the world of sensational food preparation. Buy a SHUN- you will never regret the decision. JUST BEAUTIFUL.

The thing that makes this premier knife collection a winner Is the way they look n I… Read more ·  1
