Awesome! – Have had mine for 5 years now and every time I use one and put it back in the block (edge up) to hear that satisfying samurai sword sound (Put a whiltshire back in the block and you hear nothing) it just reinforces my good choice. They are very well weighted and have near perfect balance. Oh, they cut superbly too! Pumpkin is the only food that… Read more · 1
needs pressure on the knife to get the job done, everything else is handled by the natural weight of the blade and a smooth accurate stroke.
As for quality, like anything high end, it is a reflection of the operator as to it's performance and longevity by it's care and maintenance.
As stated, I've owned mine for 5 years and have NEVER had to sharpen any of the blades!
How is that possible??? The knife NEVER leaves my hand till it's back in the block. As soon as I make my cuts it is wet wiped, dry wiped and replaced which only takes a couple of seconds when your in the habit. It never comes into contact with anything but food, cleaning cloth and it's timber home. Don't believe me, watch a quality butcher for 10 mins. :)
I fully expect these knives to become a family heirloom :-)
If your rough with your knives, don't buy these. If you look after your tools, they'll last a lifetime or three! Well weighted, near perfect balance and a supreme cut
28 years and still going strong! – I bought the first three in 1985 as part of a City and Guilds Chef training course 706/1. For three years they were in constant use then retired to daily home kitchen use. Twelve years ago I added the 9 set knife block. Absolutely love them - they feel like an extension of me - beautifully balanced. Reading the 'terrible' comments (couldn't… Read more
believe there were any) , I would say that people have to be aware that these are real knives and must be treated as such.
Hand wash only
Expect to sharpen them - Chefs sharpen theirs daily!!!
I use a stone, I would not even consider using so called knife sharpeners, and a steel only hones the edges not sharpens a blunt knife. Now that I am no longer in the industry I'm pretty slack - twice a year they get sharpened, it takes me about 1/2 to 1 hour. Really I should do it every month then it would probably be only be 15 minutes.
Treat them well and you will have them for years - I fully expect to reach my sell by date before my knives!
If I had to pick one thing from my kitchen I couldn't do without - without a doubt my knives! balance, feel and longevity - extention of my hand - love them. nothing
Good after some adjustments to the edge – I can't talk about currently manufactured knives, I have had my Mundial set for 20 years paid $199 back then so they are cheaper today then 20 years ago. From new always had trouble keeping them sharp due to the shape of the edge. Took them to a professional knife sharpener who changed the edge angle and removed the large shoulders on the edge… Read more · 2
also rounded over the back of the knives which were a bit sharp on the hands when using the two finger grip over the bolster. Since then I only need to steel them before use to bring them back to razor sharp. I use them every day on plastic cutting boards, the paring knife not so much, use the utility knife for peeling pumpkin and veggie prep and the cooks knife for all chopping dicing and slicing. The carving knife I only use for carving roasts and keep it extra sharp for that purpose. I bought a serated knife for tomato cutting as these knives aren't sharp enough for thin slicing ripe tomatoes for burgers and sandwiches. Took the carving fork out of the block and the serated knife fits in that slot. Wipe down the knife block every couple of months and has built up a lovely patina on the wood. Well balanced in the hand, good combination of knives in the set covers all situations and the scissors come apart for easy cleaning. Intital edge needed to be changed to allow for sharpening by steel alone, knife block holes would be better if they were sideways to stop the blade contacting the wood. Would like a slighly wider and longer cooks knife to speed up slicing of larger veggies.

Always a pleasure to use – I've had a set like this for 30-odd years. With regular stone work, and steel sharpening nearly every time they are used, they have remained sharp and I still get a smile when using them. Show details
20 years later and still happy – I use these daily. They keep sharp for a really long time and I use all of them all the time. Sizes are great too. They're certainly well made as they're over 20 years old now. My daughter broke one when they were new, using in it to open a jam jar which certainly isn't a quality issue. Luckily, they also do individual replacements. Show details
Great for me ,but – I have only just purchased my set and the first thing I have noticed is if you have a large hand these will be no good for you the handle part is very small Show details

Sadly unsafe – One of these knives snapped at the first rivet point and flung up and nearly took our 19 year old daughter’s eye out. I emailed company and heard nothing back. Ditched the whole set as not worth the risk. Rae Victoria Australia Show details
Dangerous knives Sit with blade up if not careful – Whilst the knives perform quite well they have a bad habit of rolling to a position with the blade up as back of handle is flat A safe knife wouldnt do that Have had them for a while but after a few close goes we are going to buy Globals or similar style Show details
Great knives, unless you need a warranty claim – They are fantastic and last a long time, but I lost one (I think it was used in the shed!) and had to replace it. About 7 years later, the tip broke off the replacement knife. I cannot get an answer from the company at all after I enquired how to lodge a warranty claim. Their website is old and they are not on social media, so I guess the warranty is effectively useless. Show details

Excellent, long lasting, everyday knives – Was gifted these over 30 years ago, still going strong. The knives are hard stainless steel so take some time to get properly sharp, and they will chip if mistreated. I use the Lansky sharpening system at 20° once a year and they retain a good edge with only an occasional honing with a steel. Of course they've never seen the inside of a dishwasher :-) Show details
They've been great knives over the years – I've been very happy with these knives. A friend gave me this knife set (over 15 years ago) that she got as a wedding present. I questioned was she sure she wanted to part with them, because they're very nice knives, but she said she preferred her knives with silicon handles. Years later, it turns out she regretted giving these knives to me!! I… Read more
have not regretted taking them, however, because they have been wonderful. They've certainly lasted well. No rust, and they still work well. They don't keep their sharpness too well if they're used a lot, and there are some minor chips to the blades, but they've also been abused, dropped onto hard floors and used heaps over the years. My hubby just sharpens them up again with the steel and they're great again. They don't go in the dishwasher, so we have to handwash them, which is annoying, but it's a small gripe. A bigger gripe is that these knives have a nasty little habit of sitting blade UPWARDS, so you have to be very careful how you place them on the bench, or in the washing-up water. I have gotten used to this, but it's not a good feature, and Mundial would do well to fix it. It's a bit dangerous. The prongs and the bread knife don't do this, and the chef's knife is too large to roll onto its back easily, but the 3 smaller knives do. So PLEASE watch out for this if you have just bought this set!! Sometimes the shape of the handles causes some pain to my hands, such as if I'm making a massive vat of pumpkin soup. The handles are not as smooth/ergonomic as they could be: they're too square. For smaller jobs, there's never an issue. It's only after prolonged use (multiple hours in a row) that I notice this. I also notice that they're relatively heavy knives after prolonged use. I like that they're heavier/thicker knives, because it means I can do tougher jobs with them, like make pumpkin soup. I feel safe using these knives with tougher to cut foods, because I know the knives are strong enough to handle it. My favourite knife is the second smallest. It's almost a perfect size for anything. Funnily enough it gets blunt the most - because it's been used the most! The scissors lost their ability to do much good after a decade, but that was no biggie for us. They're scissors. We've got plenty. On the whole, these are a good start-up set for a kitchen. They'll last you many years.
Great set of knives – We bought this set lately after years of using simple set. What a difference! Those knives are are amazing! The chef knife, which is the most used, is heavy enough to feel it, but well balanced and super sharp. Cuts through tomatoes without an issue. The other knives are naturally less used but still complimenting the chef knife. The utility… Read more
knife works well for smaller more controlled cuts and preps, the carving knife and fork works wonder wonder with my sous vide creations.
Love the fact the set comes with sharpener.
Overall - very happy. At 230AUD can't complain either.
Like new! – I've had these knives for over 7 years and they're still in excellent condition. Had them professionally sharpened recently (they're used daily!) and they're like brand new. One was lost in a house move and was easily replaced with a 'separate'. Very happy and would recommend. Show details

Best set of sharp knives – After reading the revues on Product Reviews I decided to buy a set. My daughter loves using them and told her thy will last for years. The funny thing my friend came for a visit and is quite a well known chef and was trained in the army when he saw them his eyes lit up and said fantastic you got a set of mundal's then wen going on about them and… Read more
how all the first year Chef's are supplied with them in the army but they are stamped with the army logo but no brand name.
Still looking like new! – Have my knives for over 20 years. Got a replacement on one, easily, as it had a factory fault. I sharpen them as I need to. Use them daily. Very happy! Show details

needs well would recommend it to anyone that is thinking of buying one I have a knife sharpener I have not used yet but do intend to use it shortly.
Lasts forever – I've had my Mundial knife block set for about 20 yrs & it's still as good & reliable as when I first bought it. I'm a foody person & cook everything from scratch and I use my knives constantly. These are great, reliable and high quality. This brand was recommended to me by a chef friend. I always store my knives upside down in the block to stop it blunting the knives as my chef friend advised! Value for money also! Show details
a knife for every funciton – very impressed with the sturdiness and quality. i have noticed i dont need to sharpen them as often as i used to with my old set. the block also has a nice weight to it Show details
Excellent – I got my first knife 22yrs ago and it's still going strong . Love it that much that I just got the 9 piece block and can't wait to use. Very happy with this set
Love, but Chef's knife has snapped – It was a gift. I absolutely love them, but approaching 8 years of use the chef's knife snapped. I called the distributor, and after a few steps they sent a replacement!!!
Love these knives – 10 years on and I'm still loving these knives. I also have global knives, but I like these more. I haven't sharpened them yet and they still cut through anything with ease. Absolutely worth every penny !!
Don't put up with poor quality knives, buy Mundial – Used a Mundial knife for the first time while on holidays. I went home looked up the pack and got a geat deal from Victoria's Basement. Threw my old knives out once these arrived. The Mundials are brilliant. Can't fault them. I keep them in the block on their back and never put them in the dishwasher. Have used the steel which works a treat to keep their edge. Show 3 replies

My daily knives for 12 years and still going strong. Would buy again – I bought the knife block for $129 and also bought an additional 20cm chefs knife. The knives have maintained their edge well, used on the steel every 2nd or 3rd use. Always but away on their backs to keep blades in top condition. If anything, i have found different sharpness or angles between blades, which would need some correction if fussy.
Survive test of time – I have had a set of these for about 14 years. With very little effort I can keep these knives sharp enough to shave hair. Literally use a sharpening tool from a kitchen shop or a traditional stone and finish off with the tool provided and you get the most amazing edge. Easy to sharpen
Customer Service – Unfortunately, I had to return a knife because of a faulty handle. The knife came with lifetime warranty, so I called the Customer Service department at Mundial. The Customer Service was excellent!! I was sent a reply-paid envelope and I had my replacement knife in about 3 weeks. I advised Customer Service that I did not keep the paperwork… Read more
(who does?) - and they said it was not a problem at all.
I would purchase this product again because the customer service experience was a no-fuss experience.
Great knives, great service – I purchased these for $150 on sale at Myer, and I absolutely love them. I think they retained their sharpness very well for approx 18 months, after that I noticed they weren't quite as sharp as they had been previously. I broke the tip off one like many customers had mentioned and rang Sheldon and Hammond 1800 808 971. They told me to post it the… Read more
knives back to them (at a reply paid address) and said it would take up to a week to assess, but less than a week later a new knife had been posted to me.
Finally rid of them – After persevering for some years I finally bit the bullet and got rid of my block set of knives. They would not hold an edge, always required sharpening and when the handle rivets started to corrode and the handles came off that was the last straw. They were never put in the dishwasher so the reason for the corrosion is obviously more poor… Read more
quality. The retailer could not explain why so I purchased a set of Scan Pan. Fingers crossed They looked good Would not keep and edge and fell apart
Great quality knives – Purchased this knife set about three months ago and have been very happy with them. We were hoping to get a stainless steel block as they look great but decided the quality of the knife was far more important. There is a lot of choice on the market, we found and we are very happy with our final decision. Shop the price around as you can get a… Read more
bargain, I think we paid $161 or thereabouts. All in all, would recommend this set as it has every type of knife you would need. The other tip, which we didn't know, don;'t put sharp knives in the dishwasher as it blunts them. We rinse our knives off and wipe with a cloth if there is a lot of dirt, plus we give them a quick sharpen before use almost every time. The balance and the quality. There is a certain feel to a good knife, these have that feel. Would have preferred a stainless steel block but the wood block is ok.
excellent knives and after customer service – I bought my knives about 4 years ago and must say they are fantastic and suit all my kitchen needs ..I have had to return two over this time due to handle snapping at blade and handle join HOWEVER on both occasions I was issued with a new knife , firstly from nsw store of purchase and then after moving interstate through a simple call to company… Read more · 3
and then them sending replacement through registered post within a week of me sending broken knife back, with no receipt necessary. Sharpening was an issue till I bought a simple sharp edge knife sharpener from a supermarket for $10 and now my knives are razor sharp again. I love the weight of handles and use these every day and find them very easy to slice dice chop and finely shred with. the block is a great way to store them and I have been careful to always handwash not use dishwasher as manufacturers instructions state. I expect a lifetime of use from these and know in the event of any issues ...the lifetime guarantee will continue to protect me Weight, size options including serving fork and scissors, after sale service n guarantee, block mount, versatility, proffessional feel and look Handles seem to have a weakness hence 2 breaking, tip of small knife has snapped a bit but makes no diff to use
I wish I paid $199 – We bought out knives when they were still over $400 (so 8 or 9 years ago) and have given them an absolute hiding. The blades are still perfect with no nicks or damage. The only disadvantage is my lack of skill when it comes to sharpening them and then keeping the edges honed. So with a decent sharpener and a bit of care, these knives will last a long time. Quality, long life and expected life span I bought them before the price dropped
Terrible – my wife was cleaning the dishes when she accedentley dropped the large nife on the floor and it snaped at the handle we paid $199 for the block set it shouldent have snapped like that poor workmanship
Love these knives I've had them for 8 years – We've had our Mundial knives for 8 years. We've broken tips of 4 of them and each time I send them in and the life time warranty is honoured. I get a brand new replacement knife. They are easy to sharpen and care for. reliable and great follow up customer service Show 4 replies
Excellent – This was my first "real" knife set, having previously only had hand me downs. I have had them for almost 5 years and have never had any issues with them. They are quite soft, but this makes them easy to sharpen. They feel nice when they are used - not to heavy or light. Good selection of knives in the block I own - I use everything all the time.… Read more
Scissors are awesome for cutting up chicken and come apart easily making it really easy to clean them. Overall I love them and wonder how I did without! :) Nice to use, set has everything you need.
OK – Obvious fault in the design of this one particular knife in the Bonza 9 piec knife block. Given the reputation quite dissapointing! Good for a couple of months. My large chefs knife just broke into two pieces. Under the impression it was forged steel and one peice not two
Terrible – Not durable in light domestic use, could actually be dangerous if small chip from blade edge was ingested. My advice: "Don't purchase" looks like a real knife, good for sharpening practice Edge chips very easily in normal use which is appalling. needs constant resharpening and honing. had to pick a tiny fragment of the blade out of food I was preparing (pastry!)
