Sikkens Cetol BLX-Pro

Sticky paint after 3 days – The product is very easy to use and apply. Just mix it well to ensure there is no sediment left at the bottom of the can. I did good sanding of my deck before applying. Applied 3 coats of the Cetol BLX Pro - teak for my merbau deck (since merbau colour is not available) with a good quality deck paint brush. The second coat was applied 3 hours after the first coat and third coat on the next day.
However, after applying, it feels more like a paint than a deck oil. I applied it while the temperature was around 29-30 degrees. 3 days past the final coat with consistently warm weather, without rain, the deck still feels sticky to touch. Leaves marks of heavy items on the deck.
And worse, I could not find a customer care contact for Sikkens in Australia.
-------- Updated after 3 days ----------
Three days after the initial review, upgraded the rating of the product to 4 stars from 3. Not giving 5 stars due to lack of customer support in Australia and lack of documents/instructions in English.
After a couple of days of hot and cold weather, the deck now feels good! I guess it was a matter of time before the oil gets settled on the timber. Sikkens should update their instruction with a suggested realistic time for settlement of the product on timber. This would help to set the right expectation.
Meanwhile, I cleaned the deck with detergent and water to remove the stickiness. Water beads well and the deck is not tacky anymore. The medium sheen looks elegant.
Purchased in at Bunnings Warehouse for $163.

Excellent water based stain BLX-Pro – First time I’ve used a water based stain and was worried that it may be too runny to apply to vertical Teak surfaces on my boat. It turned out to be an amazing product. It hardly dripped at all during the four coats I applied. It dries quickly (within 20 minutes) yet has a long pot life when you’re holding the pot. It’s re-coatable after 2 hrs at 20 degrees C. Clean your brushes and rollers in water every 20-30 minutes and you can reuse them indefinitely. And no smell! I was impressed. Now we will see how durable it is in Aussie sun as boat is always in full sunshine at the marina. Oil based products weren’t too durable, and the manufacturers state that water based is more durable. The teak surfaces are super durable. I haven’t coated them in about 10 years, leaving them bare and washing them in seawater for the rubbed grey look. But i just felt like a colour change. Bought 10 L can of BLX-Pro and from memory, it was somewhere in the $400 mark. Have a lot left and might use the rest on my Bali hut and merbau screen wall I built.
Thanks for the feedback Steve! Looking forward to feedback on how it goes on the boat -

Hi Kaustav C. - thanks for sharing your feedback on the Cetol BLX PRO - given the heat and humidity during the time of application, the Cetol BLX PRO can take a little longer to lose the fresh "tacky" feeling you experienced. As you've also experienced, that does settle down to leave a great durable finish.
