Silver Cross Surf

Unsafe – The harness is extremely complicated to use. You would think the harness being the most important feature of the pram would be easy to use but it's not, it's extremely complicated. They have obviously included some type of safety feature which has resulted in the the device being more unsafe.
Premium price but not premium quality – I purchased my SilverCross Surf 2 and initially loved it. Pros + It is great on all different types of terrain, even on the beach. + I loved the colourful fabric. Cons - It takes up a significant amount of room in a boot. - The seat/bassinet needs to be removed before collapsing the pram. - The storage under the pram is almost unusable… Read more
because the seat unit blocks access once it is on.
- The fabric is very thick and my baby becomes very hot when he sit in the pram. I purchased the summer pack, but he gets the white fabric dirty very quickly so find I still need to use the thicker fabric when the white summer pack is being washed.
- The handle and baby bar deteriorated and were replaced under warrenty when the pram was 1 year old. The pram is now 2 years old and the cheap poor quality leatherette handle and baby bar are once again deteriorating, which presents a choking hazard.
Intelligent design - practical, sturdy, lightweight – Very practical. Folds and unfolds very easy. Hold the interchangeable car seat/bassinet on the bar with your baby still in, gently lower and it and it easily clicks into place. Folds and compacts easily. Could carry a weeks worth of shopping in the basket and a shopping bag that hung on the handle. Goes well in the park on the grass if you lock the front wheels.
Good and sturdy pram. Quite affordable – Maneuvering is a little limited doesn't allow sharp turns and when child gets heavier, pushing the pram takes more effort but still smooth enough for child to sleep thanks to the suspension. Easy to set up and to unfold. Not too heavy even the grandparents finds it straightforward to setup and unfold. Very sturdy and after many years of use,… Read more
the rubber handle remains intact and leather bar reamain well kept. Love the ability to change the seat padding according to the weather.
Only flaw is the height of the straps are too low and the seat doesn't allow the child to sit upright at 90degree angle without the child moving forward.
Good – I just got this one second hand. They have discontinued it in store but I really like the style of it so was really wondering to buy it. But after using it for a month it's not that amazing I realised. Sometimes it's hard to turn it but otherwise works good
Value for money – Purchased Surf 2 few months ago from Silver cross. Price was dropped to 600 beacause it is discontinued. For the money that you paid, you cant really complaint this pram, it does the job well. It is easy to maneuver, one hand control with no problem, It would be suited to families who like the outdoors and spend a lot of time in the park. surf2… Read more
would not suited to families always on the move, it takes up the whole of the boot, unfolding the pram is almost a nightmare. I would receommend people go for other brands if you need to carry the pram in the car often. Otherwise , surf2 is really a good choice to go for, 600 bucks for a silver cross brand new pram, you just cant complaint more.
Design excellence - keeping this one – I have the original (and best) Surf. It is perfect if you are tall the handle bar extends up. The mountain bike style springing at centre of pram base ensures smooth ride for baby and when pram is pushed the seat moves like it is being hand rocked - it never jarrs. It is the most maneuverable pram ever made. The bassinet and seat units are quickly… Read more
interchangeable, wheels remove easily for cleaning, it really does glide over sand. The instruction book can be downloaded to show how to dismantle/clean and accessories are beautifully made, soft, washable. This is a 'Keep Me' item as there has never been design like it.
Terrible Experience with Silvercross Australia Team – This is how the story unfolds: 1. Friend has a Silvercross and said it was an excellent choice 2. Went to Melbourne baby expo to buy the same and instead of buying what was on offer, bought Surf2 Pro online. 3. Fellow at counter said Surf2 Pro was discontinued and I won't be ale to find it any where 4. Whereas there it was on the website… Read more
available to be purchased online
5. Bought it online for $699 +$30 delivery charges, received order confirmation and the dispatch note only to be contacted by Silvercross to let us know that it was indeed out of stock.
6. The offer at expo was Pioneer Stroller, Bassinet, additional cover and extra travel pram for $1199 for brand new and $1099 for demo item.
7. The woman on the phone was trying to offer me just the stroller and bassinet for $1100.
8. All I asked was that I be given the option to purchase Pioneer with the same offer as at the expo, instead of asking them for the same for $699.
9. Silvercross had no courtesy to apologize, did not take in to consideration my opportunity cost and had the nerve to write to me saying 'Shame on me for not seeing the value''.
I'm sure my baby would do just fine without 'Silvercross'.
Not very practical design – Design of this pram is ridiculous. It looks great but when you are folding it up you need to take off the bassinet or the baby seat and then fold the frame. So it pretty much takes up the whole of the boot because you have the two parts side by side and it's like a two part process to put together and take down. It's so frustrating and… Read more
inconvenient!!!! I just want a pram that you can fold once and open once. Not have parts you need to put together and take apart to put away! And also you can't put things into the basket on the bottom once the chair is on because the gap between the chair and the basket so small you can't even fit a handbag through it.
Very frustrated with this pram.
Love this, stylish, comfortable and versitile – I love this pram, and believe me I've had my fair share of prams (quinny buzz, phil and teds, combi) It is very similar to the Quinny Buzz but turns so much easier and is so light. It looks fantastic. I have the red and it looks great and have received many compliments on it. They height adjustable handle is great as it enables comfortable pushing… Read more
for all who use it. The turning circle is great and the other bonus is its not big and bulky so isnt annoying when walking down busy streets or crowded shops. Bubs is also higher than other prams I've had so great at cafes. He sleeps soundly in it too so hes obviously comfy! Versitile seating (forward and rear), light steering, adjustable handle, comes standard with accessories, narrow, easy to change colour scheme, finished beautifully with leather trim, easily washable basket size if wanting to do shopping trips but overcome with shopping clips. the newer model i believe has a larger basket.
Choose a different pram! – Agree with Style Over Substances comments. It looks good, but I've had many issues with mine since we got it. The front right wheel always intermittently stuck & would get stuck in a sideways position, very dangerous when you're about to cross a road. I've walked into the pram countless times because it didn't start rolling when I started… Read more
pushing it! Also, as soon as it's been raining or the pram encounters any sort of wet ground, the wheels seize up & are very difficult to turn - it feels like they've been locked to straight-forward mode.
The basket underneath is pitifully small & difficult to get objects in & out of - clearly designed by someone who doesn't use a pram daily.
The handles on mine don't compact easily, making it very difficult to collapse to put in the car. Also, when you collapse it you have to remove the capsule, which doesn't sit flat on the ground. Another design flaw.
The coffee cup holder (purchased separately) sticks out the side of the pram & catches on EVERYTHING (& the inner ring of it regularly pops out).
The parasol (purchased separately) bobs around and doesn't stay in position at all - also the only position it really shields the sun from my baby is when it's RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE! Ridiculous.
Unfortunately mine was from Mothercare so we couldn't return it, and because I'd been organised & got the pram well before my son was born, it was out of warranty only a short while after I started using it.
I sent emails through the website (which explicitly states "we will get back to you within 24 hours") & to the Silvercross email address directly. I called many times & no one ever answered the phone (what's the point in having four department menu options if you don't have anyone answering any of them?). I left several messages & over two weeks later, someone finally got back to me. She was brand new so couldn't comment on the lack of contact from anyone, and because my pram is now out of (a mere 12 month) warranty, the best offer was for me to courier my pram to Melbourne & pay them to service it (nb I would be without a pram for this time). There is no way I'll be spending any more money with Silvercross, I just wish I'd bought a different pram to begin with. The you can have the baby facing towards you or facing out, easy to recline or sit up. Bad warranty service, bad wheels, bad basket space
Style over Substance – I too regret buying this pram. Yes, it looks good; yes, it turns on a "dime" & I can steer it with one hand & the seat position is easy to change but the cons outweigh the pros. The crotch strap broke on mine before I had even put my baby in. The newborn nest should not be used with the liner as per customer service (once I emailed them saying I… Read more
couldn't fit my baby in without squishing her). The straps are not easily adjustable & the straw for me is the basket which is so small and difficult to get to because the seat is in the way. You have to take the seat off to fold it all down & it takes up all the boot space. I'd sell it but I'm too lazy. This is one purchase I rushed into head first because I liked the way it looked & that it was made by Silver Cross. Looks good; tight turning circle- steer with one hand; 3 seat positions easy to change MINISCULE storage space (main gripe);Straps aren't easily adjustable; takes up alot of space in boot
great pram, with few downsides – i've been using this pram for about 2 months now for my newborn, and other reviewer said this stroller is a showstopper. It is, it looks great and Ive got compliments so many times about how beautiful it is. Mine is in boring black, but it still looks the business. It's easy to manuver, not so easy with one hand though, and works on all-terrain,… Read more
Just stay away from the sands. I find it's just the perfect size, and it certainly fits checkout counters. The liners are removeable and washable, which is an important point for me. You can use the pram from birth.
Now the downsides...
the shopping basket is an absolute PITA, both in size and accessibility. you have to take it off everytime you fold the pram, and put it back on when you want to use it. and there isnt much room for stuffs either. Difficult to access with the basinette on. I think mine is the older version because Ive seen some Surf prams with different basket.
It's BIG. It takes almost the whole booth. And we've got a Dodge Nitro. You have to unclip the basinette first and then fold the chassis. Which is a little bit on the impractical side for me, but thats okay. Light enough to lift to the booth, but heavy enough that you cant do it with one hand.
Its easy to fold, and unfold.. Once you've got a hang of it, I found it a little difficult at first, and confusing but Once you understand, its dead easy.
Overall its a great pram, sturdy, great built, but it can be disappointing if youre having loads of shopping cuz theres no space for it. I purchased Brica hook for this purpose though. reliable, sturdy and soo easy to manuver poor basket design, BIG.

Great pram! – Really great pram, stroller. Not sure why everyone is so obsessed with the bugaboo and uppbaby. This silvercross is amazing! Excellent build quality and materials. IMO a lot nicer than the chameleon and similar type strollers. Please please don't just take my word for it, and look at google images from all angles. Go and try this stroller for… Read more
yourself. Pictures and reviews don't do it justice Excellent build, not flimsy in the slightest. Beautiful. Quite light. Great mechanisms It is a bit long when in basinette form, but not overly.
Traffic stopper! – Forget the other brands of pram, this gives pram a whole new meaning! I bought mine not so long ago and wish I had it from birth. I only got it cos it looks good and has the best shade of pink. People always ask what brand it is. I did however trial against a bugaboo and a stokke ( over-priced) which like to veer and are bumpy on rough surfaces.… Read more · 1
The S.C Surf eats any surface. And you can run with it, which really gets attention. It is what it says - "All-Terrain".
It's also the lightest pram I could find, plus like the bugaboo, you can easily change the colour.
I'm definitely going to hang on to this pram for my second child. Do yourself a favour and get a silver cross surf! Lightweight, good for jogging and great choice of colours!
Fantastic – I love this pram! It's comfortable, easy to use and stylish. It has a brilliant turning circle, when you are at the shops and it is busy and you need to turn, is when you will truly appreciate how well designed this pram really is. I wish I had this pram for my first two children. If you get it, it will be one of your best buys! Takes up a lot of room in the boot.
Durable, reliable & quality pram but heavy – We bought this pram at a baby expo where there was a test track and was able to do a direct comparison with other brands. The pram had a sturdy quality to it and had many function including reversible seating, good suspension, suitable from birth to toddler. It was great that you didn't need a separate bassinet and fits a Maxicosi baby capsule… Read more
with an dapper (sold separately). All accessories are included in the price I.e. umbrella, rain cover, insect cover, baby nest. Versatility, design! Includes all accessories, quality build & materials, easy to steer Too heavy, quite big when folded down and can take up all the boot space in our SUV
Great versatile pram! – I bought this pram online after doing a bit of research but never actually trying it out in a store as I found it on sale and was after a second pram as I wasn't too happy with my initial pram The features are fantastic, child can face you or away, it has an insert for newborns so they can lie flat and once they get bigger the foam can be taken… Read more
out of the insert so it provides padding for bub and they can sit up. It's very easy to push and steer and the wheels aren't too wide so it can fit through most shop aisles
I like that things such as the rain cover and footmuff are included in the price which some other brands don't do. It also has other accessories that can be purchased such as adapters for a capsule
Folding and unfolding is a bit tricky at first but becomes quite easy once you get the hang of it
The only downside I have found is the shopping basket is quite small and a bit difficult to access when the seat is facing you, I overcame this by getting some hooks for my nappy bag and use them for shopping bags overall I have been very happy with this pram! Easy to steer, reversible seat, price includes most accessories Small shopping basket

I bought the Silver Cross dazzle and my crotch strap broke as well. To my disgust, the company did absolutely nothing about it.
