Horrible, have had problems with it from the time it was about 18months old – Washing standard clothing, nothing heavily soiled or bulky items. Family of 3, washed every 3 days or so. The size was wonderful, could do whole basket at once. However within 18 months it started having balance problems. Sometimes it would complete a cycle no worries, most times I'd have to rearrange the load 2-3 times for it to finish. It got… Read more

worse after 3.5 years it wouldn't complete a cycle at all, no matter how big or small the load was.

The cold inlet valve also stopped working and I had to use the hot water inlet and just set it to hot water wash (but using cold water)

I've now replaced it and will never buy a Simpson washing machine again

Absolute worst machine ever! – I purchased this machine at Harvey Norman in Auckland. It is by far the worst washing machine I have ever owned. From day one it was a disaster. It wouldn't even start after installation. Technician came out and said it was a timer issue ??and changed a part ! A month later had to call them again for the same issue. I bought it because of the… Read more

Dirty clothes – Not only does it leave clothes dirtier than when they first went in it also wears out your clothes. It takes a long time to wash and is loud. Also leaves lint balls/pilling on clothes. Worst machine ever made. Bought it a couple of years ago because of the size and agitator. Will not buy Simpson again.  Show details

The worst piece of garbage any manufacturer ever took money for – This machine from day 1 left residue all over dark clothes and it didn't matter what I did by changing settings using liquid detergent of dissolving powder in warm water or tried different settings sorting colors from whites it just kept depositing scum on dark clothing and in most cased had to be washed again. Dirtier clothes AFTER washing – I bought this machine in the hope it would cope with large loads as the 9.5kg indicated. Terrible after sales support – The tub seal suddenly gave way, releasing lots of water and damaging my floor. The simple rubber seal cannot be purchased individually. Someone cunningly decided to sell the seal only as part of the transmission unit. At more than $260 just for this part, it is completely unreasonable and unfair on the consumer. What a waste of money! – Bought this top loader as I had a fantastic Kleenmaid before. Crap Machine! – I can't believe we got rid of our old Fischer & Paykel to use this junk Simpson. I thought we were alone until I read all these reviews. We have experienced all the same problems that I'm reading about here. Lint on dark clothes and fine powder in the tub. It's 10:30 pm and I'm running 4 pairs of dark work pants through this useless machine again… Read more

just to rinse the lint off - it's like a find dust or something.

When it fills, it stops and starts several times and spins doing nothing else for 5 min between adding small amounts of water. 60 minutes on the wash time indicator is out by about 100% i.e it usually takes closer to 2 hours.

We only use this machine as this house is a rental from family and they provided this machine as new and we gave away our Fischer & Paykel.

I'll never buy another Simpson. They obviously don't do quality control or R&D very well.

Don't try and clean your clothes in this – I have owned this machine (SWT955SA) for 5 years and chose this particular one as it could hold 9.5kg of clothes, due to the work clothes my partner and I wear we thought it was perfect for our first home together! How we were wrong! Being only 19 at the time of purchase, and living out of home for the first time, I thought I wasn't using the… Read more

right washing powder as it would always still be all over the clothes after a heavy duty wash, so I changed to liquid, and it still did the same thing! Thought I needed to clean the machine, gave it a good scrub, emptied out the filters, soaked it etc and its still left soap marks and fluff piles all over our black and navy blue clothing. It also has destroyed my partners high vis work clothes as I think it literally just throws the clothes around and stretches them to oblivion!

I have to wash our clothes twice over: once in the machine, then once over as a plain hand wash to get all the soap scum out! Don't even try to put Napisan in it to give your clothes a nice freshen up, it doesn't dissolve that either!

And don't even get me started on the cycle time of a regular wash, over 1 hour! I know machines that do a lovely wash in 20 odd minutes, and this thing spits out clothes worse then when they first went in.

It also gets confused when you do a hot wash, starts beeping halfway through and stops on a 1.5hr cycle and you have to start all over again! Even just a 'rinse and spin' takes 30 minutes! Absolutely ridiculous, bad machine and I've had enough.

We bought a Simpson as the brand had a good name, I will be purchasing a Fisher & Paykel for my next machine which does a whole wash in 25mins!

Disgusting piece of machinery.

What a rip off! – Just did a wash, come out terrible, so here is exactly what I think... Banging my clothes on a rock in a dirty river will get my clothes cleaner. and watch how it washes, bashing the clothes to death. I have never ever been happy with the quality of the wash from the oil spots (service man said nothing wrong with it) and grey sludge left behind.

I have gas hot water and the 5-6 times the machine stops and start filling is unnecessary and I'm sure each time the HWS needs to ignite and shut-down will cost me because of extra wear over time. Is this part of the water saving feature, even though the level is set to extra high? Can't it fill in one go?

My water cost 90c for 1000L (one tonne). If it was such a precious commodity it would probably cost a lot more. Ask the people of Brisbane how things ended up in 2011 after Wivenhoe dam overflowed and wrecked the place after being asked to save every drop.

If I were to hand wash some small items and then spin them up this takes 22 mins. With mum's 40 year old Wirlpool, turn the knob to spin pull it out and the machine spins. Minute later, push it in and your done.

Time left on the display? Crap grab a stopwatch.

Simpson used to be a brand Aussies could trust. Your C.E.O., engineers and marketing people should use new products in their home before the release to consumers. Hey why don't you try it out with your wife's wedding dress first?

There was a plus. Because the machine is classed as water efficient, my council gave me a $150 cheque which works out to be 166 tonne of water at 90c/tonne! Not that precious it seems...

Don't bother with the token offer to contact me and sort out all my problems either. Been there done that, got blown off.

You have ripped off the good people of Australia Simpson.

P.S. Give up on the water saving features and concentrate on a quality wash.

December 3rd 2014 Update:

This Simpson washing has been repair three time with a new board, new lid and the machine still doesn't work properly. It doesn't like washing with only a small amount of clothes in and wont spin the clothes out. The machine does work on a heavy load but on a light load it takes over 20 minutes to rinse and spin then it stop with 10 minutes to go and will not continue to work. I have to ring out the clothes by hand. I have been told it has something to do with balancer. So know we have to find money to buy a new washing machine which we don't have as its over two years its out of warranty and the money to repair washing machine comes out of our pockets to repair machine. I will not be buying washing another washing machine or any other simpson product ever again thanks to this issue. If you have any respect for your customer you would either repair the machine or replace it without any cost to us. I don't like to complain but have had enough of this machine.

Never washes properly! – We purchased our EziSensor 9.5KG machine in 2009 under the impression that this was a good product. That was mistake number 1. “Quality kept simple” they said! I think NOT. control panel within weeks of delivery. Since then the machine has operated without fault. The quality of the wash however has always been terrible. We have tried every brand of detergent, both powder and liquid. Without fail every wash delivers at least one piece of clothing that has grey slim marks on it.

I commend Simpson on their attempt to build a water efficient machine but this is just a shocker – the machine has never washed clothes properly, despite regular clean outs. Using an Epson Salt wash as advised by the Electrolux assistant just loosens the slime and makes it worse. The machine needs a better filter. You end up wasting more water because every load needs a rewash.

This machine is definitely NOT “Clean and simple!” as Simpson advertise. Definitely NOT “Throw a load on and return when your clothes are brilliantly clean” as Simpson advertise. Spoke to Evette from Simpson and she said this was the first time she had received a call about the dirty wash. In reviewing this website – I’d say the design is just a dud! Simpson brand was a known product. Everything! This does not wash clothes.

to pay to fix their inferior workmanship, she made comments about another brand of washing machine that she owns that had to be repaired. How’s that, even she doesn’t own a Simpson washing machine and she works for the company, what does that say?

I truly believe that washing machines, fridges, dishwashers all whitegoods should last ten years minimum, without needing Constant repairs especially in the first five years just like in the good old days, now it seems five years at best, wish is also about how long my brand new LG dishwasher lasted bad luck you think I don’t, Because we have to buy again in turn this also contributes to massive landfill prematurely. To me this is totally unacceptable and we the public, buying these products in good faith turns out to be a big disappointment.

I would like at least half my money back or have my machine repaired for free, because they should have manufactured their washing machines right the first time. Recall all the machines that have been made in some cheap factory overseas.

I will be continuing with my reviews on this site and any others on the internet, and good old word of mouth, I know and you should know that when we purchased our Simpson washing machines they got our money now get lost, very unhelpful after sales service.

this happens with powder or liquid detergent. The beeping noise drives me crazy and must do the same to my neighbours.

It has been rusting for a long time now, my old Hoover which I had for 23 years did not have rust even till the end. It takes way too long to do a complete cycle and when I set the water level I desire it still fills to the highest level most times, and this then involves having to add more detergent. The machine takes far too long to fill with water and then it stops for a long pause… until it decides to start washing (what for). I regret buying a Simpson and will never recommend to anyone!

Difficult to imagine a worse washing machine – It is difficult to know where to start with this machine. It is about 5 years old now - we're at the end of the extended warranty. would have kicked it to the curb and never bought another Simpson again.

The machine's lid lock function is irritating. Whenever our machine has an error (regularly) the lid locks and the machine must be turned off at the powerpoint to get the clothes out. It's starting to rust, and I've been electrocuted while using it. The machine itself is very unstable - when it is in spin, the machine starts shaking wildly, making loud banging noises. In all of that excitement, it then resets the spin cycle (only to do the exact same thing). When it does actually get the end of the cycle, typically hours later, there is often washing powder caked to the clothes still. Nothing Everything

A lemon from the start – I bought this machine because of its size, it has been a lemon from day one, leaking from the first wash, that fixed but I'm in the same boat as everyone else, this machine does not clean clothes. Today I have pulled the machine apart to clean the return pipe and it is full of sludge that should be washed away. Totally not happy. The price that I paid I expected something far better. Takes too long to do a cycle, does not clean clothes.!!
