Good matress for its price – Purchased 3 weeks before and still in great condition. Didn't find any issue. Great comfort and firmness to sleep which is needed after long hour work. Good value for the money. Show details · 1
Exact same issues as everyone else – We bought the Boston medium mattress through Harvey Norman in 2017, it very quickly became uncomfortable to sleep on. Two huge dips, no matter how much rotating, and a big ridge in the middle. It looks terrible with bedding on it as the dips are visible. We had it sent away in 2018 to be repaired, the exact same way everyone else does. Got it back… Read more
, after a brief period it looks exactly the same. I In this time we moved house, had a child, life got busy. So now we get onto the company. They want to take it away again to assess and the repair. You can imagine my hesitation in proceeding with this. Not good enough, refund me. What a complete waste of time and money. This mattress cost $4000!!! Will be taking this further!
Unsleepable! From brand new, 1 side had no support, like springs has collapsed or missing – I purchased a brand new Australian 5 zone pocket spring mattress direct from Sleepmaker (explain why direct later). On the first night, Within 15 to 20 minutes, it was very noticeable that there was a problem with the support. As soon as I went to move towards the centre, a firm ridge in the centre made this difficult. I realised I was sinking… Read more
into the mattress badly like the springs had collapsed or were missing. Sitting up in the centre zone, I sank into the mattress a long way. The other side and other zones at the head and foot of the mattress were good sitting on top of the mattress like expected.
This lack of support is very obvious and easy to see, however returning it to Sleepmaker, they didn’t find a problem. But I should have known this would happen. When I wrote to them online telling them there was a problem, and 1 of their replies was, “they inspected the mattress and found nothing wrong” even before they had inspected it, it shows how dodgy they are and that they have zero respect for any claim. Don’t risk buying from them.
Ok, why I bought direct: I returned a $7,099 retail mattress to them (I paid $2,200 as I was staff at the time and worked for them for over 2.5 years happily. I now feel guilty for all the mattresses I sold, and just hope others odn’t Have this nightmare also) for inspection where they said there was nothing wrong also. They offered to replace the top at my cost and I agreed even though I told them it was not possible for my mattress, but the confirmed it was. I paid the fee, and waited.
After a month, I saw a refund in my account. I called them to ask where it is, and they said it would be delivered Tuesday. But on Thursday I asked again where it is because it didn’t get delivered, and they scrapped it. A perfectly good mattress in their opinion and they scrapped it. I had to then go and choose another from a limited range offered. The one I got had a retail of $2,000. It took me 2 months to finally get them to take this one back as described above, for them to inspect it.
The problem was reported the 3rd day, extremely obvious, and yet, they say it is fine.
So, to be clear, Sleepmaker state:
1. A 5 zone mattress may also have and develop zones within zones and there is no uniformity in support for each zone. My mattress is a medium, yet the centre zone on one side is ultra plush in support and feel.
2. To get a warranty claim, the surface must visibly sink 35mm which can ONLY happen over time as the foams compact down & The spring support wains.
3. As they foam layers are all glued together, and are over 10cm tall, even if multiple springs were removed or collapsed (like what it feels in my mattress) and therefore support, there would be no sinking. This will be demonstrated in a video when I get it back)
4. They will not approve any claim and warranty is worthless. This is evident from when they replied that they found nothing wrong BEFORE they even inspected it.
5. They clearly enjoy going to the Depatment of Fair Trading which is my next place of call.
(For the record, I weight under 67 kg, my wife under 38kg, so there is no way our weight is in any way a contributing factor to this problem)
When I receive the mattress, I will be making a video, showing how bad the support is, as is. Then cutting it apart, and seeing how many springs I can remove before the 35mm sinking occurs. Basically to show how bad the support can be before Sleepmaker will even consider a claim. I will publish this video and everyone who sees it I am sure will never buy a Sleepmaker mattress, along with all the other brand names I will mention.
So, I DO NOT RECOMMEND SLEEPMAKER OR ANY OF THE MANY BRANDS IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. IT IS NO WONDER THEY CAME RIGHT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE RESULTS FOR THE RECENT CHOICE MAGAZINE TESTS. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE EQUALS THE QUALITY OF THEIR PATHETICALLY BUILT MATTRESSES.
Sleepmaker make mattresses under many different names: Sleepmaker, Sleepyhead, Simmons, Dunlopillo, Design Mobel and Serta bedding brands. Be careful of any of these. They are all made the same and only have different names.
Hi Patrick - a member of our team is going to give you a call today.
Sleepmaker Saggy Bed Health Issues – We have noticed that this product Sleepmaker Pocket Spring has been discontinued. WHY???? Why are we having a bed repaired and not replaced when this this product has been discontinued. Why has this happened?????? Have you not taken any notice of the amount of complaints about this bed? come back as "performing to satisfaction" The Foam box lid has been repaired as standard repair process. The Tape Edge has been replaced as it was damaged during inspection. The Top Panel has been repaired as a standard repair process.
After reading the inspection report how disappointed we are with this as we are the ones complaining about the mattress sinking in the middle and across the mattress. How do you test all these components?? Visual looking at it???
We have yet to receive bed back. Will comment after sleeping in it again.
Still very disappointed this mattress has not been replaced due to product being discontinued.
We would hope that as requested that the mattress is returned with a professional certificate of being cleaned.
There are a lot of negative reviews about this mattress. I presume after this repair that we will have a written gaurantee for extra time.
Were others who have had this type of bed repaired like ours happy with the result??
Awaiting for your response. Micko
Well we have received mattress back and have slept on it for 4 nights. Sleepmaker in their report stated there was no problems with the mattress!!.We accept that Sleepmaker had to take mattress away for investigation but we also expected it to be the same on return if they Sleepmaker said there were no problems. We have not had a good comfortable sleep in 4 nights as the mattress is as hard as a rock to lie on.It was not like this when we purchased or sent away the mattress. We still have the sag in the middle and along centre of bed.How disappointing with Sleepmaker that they are supposedly guarenteeing their product but won't listen to the most important people US THE CUSTOMER who are sleeping on the mattress.
My husband has a number of appointments with the Osteopath due to the condition of this mattress.
Sleepmaker this is not acceptable and we would have thought you would have the decency to call us to see if we are any happier with the mattress!! Please call us as we are not satisfied and we are expecting you Sleepmaker to make a decision about a replacement mattress as we can't continue sleeping on this one.
We have called in to [name removed] at Harvey Norman and he is very disappointed that we are not satisfied with the outcome. Micko

4 inch dips! AVOID SLEEPMAKER! – Same as all the other reviews, terrible. Bed dips severely. But apparently we just need to rotate it! As soon as we rotate it it dips again within weeks. My over 6 foot husband should not be expected to sleep on a bed positioned horizontally because of the mattress being faulty. To be treated like it’s our fault when trying to lodge a claim is just the icing on this entire EXPENSIVE ordeal! Still no resolution. Show details

The worst overpriced mattress I have ever owned – I have the exact problem as yourself. It sags, at first it was ok but then it started to sag. With no support whatsoever ever. middle of the bed. I've been turning the mattress over every month, and even swap sides. I have had constant back aches because of no support and have been seeing Chiropractor to realign my spine and give me some relief, but it is short lived, as I have to sleep on a mattress that offers no support whatsoever.
I went to the supplier and they too no longer stock ANY Sleepmaker mattresses in their store. They told me they were having too many complaints about the Sleepmaker brand and don't want anything to do with Sleepmaker! I was told to call Sleepmaker directly and deal with them. I did call them, the lady gave me an email address to put in my complaint. Unfortunately I have misplaced the email address and will have to call them again on Monday to get it again and put in my complaint.
I paid $1899.05 for it. And I would have done something about it a lot earlier but I could not find my receipt. But I came across the receipt last week and thought; I can finally do something about this overpriced piece of rubbish. I will never, ever buy a Sleepmaker bed again. In the past I have paid much less for a different brand of mattress, and it was the best sleep I, or anyone that slept in it ever had.

everything they could to blow us off taking months to arrive at "that's normal dipping" without even looking at the bed and basing it on our several photos showing massive dipping without even having any body weight on the mattress. Pay $2500 for constant back pain – This review is for the Sleepmaker Harbour Contour Mattress. mattress with small, individual springs that aren’t strong enough to spring back, they just compress during the night; the weight of my hips pushes all the springs down into a concave shape, the whole mattress sags into a very hard, curved surface. I can’t sleep on my stomach anymore, it’s like I’m sleeping on my stomach in a hammock. This is a “dead” feeling mattress; it has no springiness.
It is also a high mattress that standard fitted sheets only barely fit on very tightly with no tuck under so the elastic sits up above the bottom. The surface has a layer of thick padding (“tight top”) that I thought would be soft and comfortable without the heat of a latex pillow-top. It’s not comfortable. The padding has now completely flattened out but only in the area where we lay the most, so the bed looks like a truck drives over it with a line down the middle between us still fully padded and the body areas flattened into two channels. Not only is this unsightly, it’s also uncomfortable when trying to move around in bed, as once out of the groove where I usually lay, I’m met with a higher area of foam which tends to roll me back into the groove and puts upwards pressure on my arms and legs if I stretch them out. At night I feel so desperately uncomfortable because I want to lie flat, not in a banana shape.
One of the main reasons I chose this mattress was that it is endorsed by the Chiropractor’s Association. What a sick joke; my back is now in such bad shape that I’ve gone from maintenance chiropractic treatments once every few months, to once a fortnight and I am always stiff and sore. I was going to complain about this mattress to Sleepmaker, however reading the warranty agreement, there is no point. The amount of indentation allowed in this agreement is a lot, and “comfort issues” are not grounds for complaint either. In fact, the warranty is an amusing read, with lies like the flattening of the padding referred to as the filling “getting used to your body contours” and the acceptable height of loss of padding is anything up to 25mm. What? 25mm?! Oh well, they must be right because this isn’t just a mattress, it’s a “technologically advanced Sleepmaker sleep system”. What? Plus, if you complain and they have to inspect the mattress, then they charge you a service fee. Again, what?
What I learnt from this purchase:
• Be very sure you know what you’re doing when buying a Sleepmaker, and I would advise they be avoided – they are puffed-up, bulky, extremely heavy, over-sized, old-fashioned mattresses that look impressive but aren’t comfortable or supportive to sleep on. And the heaviness of the mattress does not mean it is well-made.
• Chiropractic and other such “endorsements” mean nothing and are extremely misleading.
• If you are paying more than a grand for a mattress then you are being ripped off. More money does not equate with a better mattress.
• Avoid individual pocket springs – especially micro-pocket springs – they do not support your back, especially if you are average or large-framed, have back issues, or like to lie flat.
• Be wary of puffy, overstuffed mattress tops – even if not technically pillow-tops (this mattress is not classed as a pillow-top) – they are not as comfortable as they look and will quickly compress into lumpy and non-lumpy areas with use. Especially avoid those that are stitched sparingly into large, puffy areas – they feel horrible to sleep on as you can feel the deep crevasses where the stitching lines are.
• The whole mattress/bed market – especially the high-end, luxury, chiro/osteo/physio-endorsed market – is a disgusting cesspit of hype and salesmanship and they do not deserve our money. Stick with local mattress manufacturers that will offer basic, quality product and proper customer service. Don’t get sucked in like I did with the expensive-bed-equals-quality sales pitch. If you want to buy big-store retail, then go for non-partisan stores that have more systematic mattress selection procedures and that sell all brands, not those that only sell one brand and where you just lie on the mattresses for a few minutes to make your decision.
Worst mattress I've slept on in 37 years and the most dishonest service and warranty – I cannot believe there is no option for zero stars. around 4 months before it started going bad. All of sudden i started feeling pain on my shoulders first, my wife on her lower back. We didn't realise it was the mattress until we slept on other beds..... and when we complained to Sleepmaker it took them sooooooooo long to respond.. And kept telling us there is nothing wrong with the mattress. Then why did they change the comfort layer and send it back to us. For the first 4 weeks it felt better. But this didn't last long. And when we emailed them, no reply. So we dumped it. And luckily the shop we bought it from, came to the party and is giving us store credit. At least someone has morals.
Needless to say we moved on, bought a latex bed and feels FANTASTIC, the pain has completely disappeared. I will let ALL my friends know to never ever ever buy anything made by sleepmaker as their service is worse than their product. Their warranty may as well not exist. Good luck duping my family and friends. Goodbye sleepmaker forever.
