Smeg DWAU315X / DWAU315X1 / DWAU315XT Questions & Answers
VerifiedOur Smeg DWAU315XT has started leaking and turns itself on without input. I presume this is some sort of fail safe when it lets water in when it shouldn't? The 70 deg C wach light is constant on and the soak light is flashing. Can you tell me what the problem is?
Dear Ash R., Thanks for your enquiry. Can you kindly email us your full name, address, and contact telephone number? Our email address is: diamondservice@smeg.com.au and please mark it to the attention of Lesley. Regards, Smeg Australia.
Can you help please. I recently returned from holiday to find that my dishwasher - which was working perfectly when I left - would not work at all. The machine turns on when I close its door, but none of the buttons work and the machine remains obstinately silent. I have had a technician to come to look at it and have received a quote of $1242 to repair it. Have you any suggestions as to what could be wrong before I’m forced to buy another. Thank you so much. Carol Young
HI Carol Y., The door latch is not engaging properly to activate the controls of the dishwasher. Please call our technical support team on 02 8667 4888 and they will be able to assist you. Regards Smeg
Hi. Bought a house a few months ago with a “ not very old “ Smeg DWAU351X1 dishwasher. Struggling to get a good result with it. I use Finish Quantum tablets and have ran a bottle of finish dishwasher cleaner through it. Always find something with food stuck on it and glasses always have marks and food bits on them. I’ve had Bosch dishwashers in various houses over 30 years and never had these issues. Any ideas ???
Hey Adrian, we used to have a SMEG dishwasher, the only thing we found to help was to use rinse aid in the dishwasher as well as rinsing well before stacking.
Dear Adrian G., If you are not getting satisfactory results please check the following: Clean the filters in the bottom of the dishwasher and fit them back into place correctly. Check the spray arms for blockages Check the spray arms are not obstructed from turning freely. You may need to adjust the middle basket. Choose the correct program for the level of soiling. Auto wash is recommended for daily loads of dirty dishes Hope this helps Regards Smeg
Hi. I have the smeg DWAU315X1 dishwasher. It is about 7 years old. For the last 2 months we have had an intermittent problem with it running. Sometimes the lights above the buttons don't come on, and then when you hit start, nothing happens, Sometimes it starts, then stops and then say "end" when it has only been on a few seconds. Sometimes, you choose a cycle, and then the lights just cycle through the different wash cycle selections beeping with each one, but not actually starting the cycle. This is becoming more frequent. Can you help me please?
Dear Cas B, Thanks for your enquiry. Could you please email service@smeg.com.au with your name, address and contact number and mark it to the attention of Lesley. Once she has this information, she will be in direct contact with you. Regards Smeg
Hi. I have the DWAU351X1. Just asking, can this dishwasher be locked during its cycle? We have opened the dishwasher mid cycle a few times, and then cannot get it to resume the cycle at the interrupted stage. You literally have to start again. Is that right?
Hi Joanna O., If you interrupt the program, you need to press the start/pause button for a few seconds again once you close the door. Regards Smeg
Thank you kindly
Hi! We’ve been having problems with this dishwasher on and off for a while now. When we turn it on, it beeps but then no lights or buttons will work. This has happened intermittently for ages, and we've been able to switch it off at the mains and get it to work eventually, but now nothing we try is getting the lights to turn on
Dear Kiera W., The door latch is not engaging properly and therefore the machine won't start. Hi I used last night dishwasher and I put dish wash liquid in the dishwasher then so much soap and foam then press the button to the pass then i cleaned myself after that it was noise program I cannot choose what I can do please help
Dear viji k., What type of detergent did you use? You must only use detergent suitable for automatic dishwashers. The foam has caused the antiflood system to trip. You will require a service call. Please email service@smeg.com.au with your name, address and contact number along with the model of your dishwasher. Regards Smeg
Tilt the machine for. 15 mins let the water run ou T of bottom. Then try

I opened the door mid way through a cycle (Maybe 2minutes into it) and now I can't get it to start again. I've tried the reset and turning it on and off at the wall. When I try to restart it, it beeps like normal then beeps twice and does nothing.
Hi Alexandra, Sounds like there is an issue with the timer. We suggest contacting our Service Department on 02 8667 4833 to arrange a service call.

Hi I have a Smeg DWAU315Xt the rotary arms wont spin and the flexi tab & delayed time selection doesnt light up so I dont know if they are enabled or not the machine is approx 2-3 years old. Any ideas?
Hi Liz, I’m not too sure about your issues. I had a really loud knocking noise during the wash cycles. One of the repair people said it was the green end of the rotary arm and replaced it, another messed with the whole rotary arm and said the adjustable trays were set at the wrong heights, not allowing room for them to spin. Maybe try adjusting the tray arms?
I gave up with this machine in the end, as every time it was turned on made me regret my purchase. I just bought the Miele I should have from the start and absolutely love it.
Hi Liz,
It sounds like something is blocking the arms and there may also be an issue with the board.
We suggest contacting our Service Department on 02 8667 4833 and arranging a service call.
Kind Regards,
Smeg Tech Support.

Hi there
I have a SMEG dishwasher - Model DWAU315X1 purchased 1/11/14.
It is stuck on the end of the cycle with END message on. I have turned off the power and when I turn it on again it will not clear or enable me to start a new wash/program.
Is there any way to reset this please?
regards Carolyn
I believe this is caused by opening the door before the program is finished and then turning off the power. To fix it - Open the door, press and HOLD the start/stop button (right button) and close the door. This should reset the program. SMEG IT IS VERY ANNOYING THAT INFORMATION ABOUT THIS RESET PROCEDURE IS NOT IN THE MANUAL!
Why is the dishwasher making a knocking sound as if bottom wand is hitting something? When I open door and spin wand, this is not the case. I then restart cycle this goes away. Dishwasher is level.
Maybe try testing it without anything on the lowest tray, if it persist, best to call SMEG warranty
Our Smeg dishwasher was doing the same. Once you open the door the knocking stops. We worked out it is the soap holder flap. When it opens it gets caught on the dish basket and as the wash arm spins around it hits the flap. There is actually a worn mark in the plastic from it constantly hitting. The only way to stop the issue is to start the dishwasher with the soap flap open and the dishwasher tablet sitting loose in the washer. If you raise the basket, the glasses don't fit. Not really impressed with this fault in a brand new dishwasher but the warranty guys can't fix it.
I had the same problem they replaced the tray which fixed the fault
I have a very similar dishwasher DWAI6315XT at it has knocked since brand new. We recently had the smeg guy out to replace the door rope( not even 6 months old). While he was onsite we showed him a video of it knocking all he could say is the spray arm is hitting something but as Woolly says it's the top spray arm hitting the dispenser lid. Only happens when top basket is in the lower position. Smeg shouldn't sell product with inherent design issues. If they can't fix it under warranty they should replace it will a model without the floor
This has a ridiculously big plug attachment called "acquastop". It's 70mm wide and won't fit through the normal hole to under the sink which is 55mm.
Q- Can this hose be removed at the base of the dishwasher and fed through from under the sink to the dishwasher? If not I will have to sort out how to cut a larger hole- Really impractical - If it can't be done I would not have bought this brand in hindsight. - looking for saws that may do this or may have to buy a special small power tool or have someone install -Either way $$$$$- Add a service fee or $130 new tool onto the price. It's a new house - Not something outdated either
hey mate, i am not sure whether it can be removed. I had a hole big enough to pull it through to attach to the drainage. The aquastop exist in most dishwasher though, i guess its to stop reverse flow back into the dishwasher when the tap is turned on. you can get a hole drill bit and get a bigger hole made. shouldnt cost you more than $30
Dear Mark, Acquastop is a water safety device that operates when the dishwasher is not in operation by restricting mains pressure at the tap, and not at the dishwasher. You can use a 40mm whole saw to increase the size of the hole, if you need assistance you can contact me via email at steve.cullen@smeg.com.au.
Thanks Steve- That was quite obvious to cut a bigger hole. I don't own a saw that could do that - To buy a hand saw there wasnt one small enough with fine enough teeth for under the sink - Tradesman tried that and 2 other tools - It added the call out fee and time of $105 onto the price along with the wait. Ive had 4 other dishwashers - easy fit- DIY- SMEG needs to make the device smaller- This was a brand new house not an older one.
