Rubbish kettle – Bought kettle and toaster in red the toaster element went at about 13 months old . Now after less than 2 years on kettle is leaking over work tops.

Worst kettle ever, super expensive, and dead after two years. And smeg do nothing worthwhile to fix – Worked great until the warranty expired. Took it back, and the best Smeg could do is sell me another one for half price. I bought a plastic one. Itll last longer.

Leaking kettle. Don’t waste your money just for the look of it – We bought this from Myer in May 2019. It started leaking a few months ago, and wet my benchtop every time we use it. I mean, really? This is supposed to be a better quality product and brand which generally has higher price tag. I have had several kettles in my lifetime and none had ever leaked. Kmart kettle or some cheaper brand we use in the office last longer. Disappointed. Will not use any smeg product again because of this experience.  Show details

Lid won’t open/letters falling off – Love my smeg kettle BUT the lid won’t open all the time ( stuck most of the time ) and the letters have fallen off? Very disappointed!!! Loved it but it stopped working – Bought mine in TK Maxx in April. Was overjoyed to find one and in red too, so it matched my other small appliances. It looks good, fits in well. it wouldnt cime on. If i moved it round on the base, jiggled it a bit it worked, then Sunday morning, dead. Not happy as unsurprisingly I can find the receipt. £69.99 down the drain. Disappointed doesnt cover it. Disillusioned I am! A £10 kettle from Tesco lasts longer.

My SMEG 50s kettle lid is not popping up on it's own – I bought the matching set of red toaster and kettle through my local David Jones Store on 15/1/18. Terrible product stay away – Same issues as others are having with the lid jamming closed. Another new issue noticed the paint is pealing around the lip and dropping into the boiling water. So disappointing, broken lid – I bought this kettle for myself and the blue kettle and toaster for my daughter 13 months ago. My daughter had her toaster replaced in the first few months and now my lid on the kettle is broken. Very disappointed with Smeg products – all our appliances are Smeg but very disappointed in 3 items. Our toaster stopped working within 8 months, a replacement was given. Our kettle has just stopped working, doesn't boil anymore and the warming draw has never worked, went to use it for the first time over Xmas and found out it doesn't even work. Can’t open lid anymore – I bought the stand mixer , toaster, blender and the kettle about a year and a half ago. Those products are all awsome exept for the kettle which I can’t open the lid anymore because the push button mechanism is probably stuck with lime. lid has gone mottled from the steam – Just purchased a red smeg kettle from Currys. Used once and lid has gone mottled from the steam. Only bought it yesterday and as its such an expensive item this is very unexpected, after reading other reviews now worried that the letters will fall off next. I bought it to match my mixer. Kettle lid not open – This is our first time to buy this quality brand kettle 16 month ago, which the sales recommended. The kettle was boiling noisy and the lid does not open any more now, it has to put under the kitchen cupboard as redundancy. Looks are deceiving – This is an attractive kettle to look at with its soft close lid but is awfully heavy and deceiving. Due to its sheer weight you think that there is water in the kettle but there isn't. It is heavy to hold and pour. Regret the purchase. Should have bought a duality kettle.  Show details

Lifting paint – I have the toaster and kettle to match, love the look, however the paint started bubbling at the lid of the kettle after about 6 months and hasn't stopped. The bubbling has now lifted the paint and starting to look terrible. I think it over boils and there's too much steam  Show details

terrible – I'm on my 3rd kettle now, 1st and 2nd the lid just wont open, 3rd came and still the lid has to be gently forced with finger on pressing button, now it just wont stop boiling.. have to manually switch off which is dangerous if you forget as you shouldn't have to babysit your kettle whilst its boiling, cost too much money for so many errors  Show details

Faulty lid – Have had the jug for 2 yrs and have been experiencing problems with the lid. Other jugs I've had over the years have lasted for ages. took the rubber seal off so we can open it, but it lets out a lot of steam, so thought this a bit dangerous and put the seal back in place. Smeg is supposed to be the best of the best!!!!!! My daughter in law also had to take her jug back for the same reason. Not good...considering it cost $200. The jug was purchased at Myer.

Broken lid – Lid started sticking & is now falling apart. I can't remember exactly when I purchased it but it's a little over a year ago, I'm guessing. Kettle lid problems SMEG – I have bought this kettle at the end of December and am taking the 2nd one back tomorrow as the same problem occurs. Can not manage to release the press down button and the lid gets stuck. REALLY frustrating to pay so much and have it replaced every 2 months.

On my 3rd one and sadly the lid is already starting to become faulty – I LOVE Smeg I have the red frig we have had some problems with that not being cold enough !! I didn't bother with Smeg as they don't offer great customer service , I purchased from David Jones and twice they have swapped the kettles both only 6 months old . I am in denial but my lid is sticking and only a matter of time .

water is quite and doesn't take long. The only gripe that we have are it's a bit heavy, the handle is awkward for us and that the seal around the lid doesn't so if you pick the kettle up sone as it's boiled you can get rather close to being scaled by the escaping steam .

Love it!!! – Looks awesome!! Boils fast aswell as being nice and quiet. I like how the switch lights up when you turn it on. I love it. Pretty sure I have the whole collection under the Christmas Tree! The Mixer, Toaster and Blender!!! Fingers crossed lol... Can't wait!!! Hopefully more comes out in this range
