2 things about this company , firstly worst customer service if they dont like what your saying on a phone call or its too difficult for them they just hang up and secondly clunky bad website to navigate and see where your bids are

While auction purchases naturally carry some risk for the buyer, it is also important that sellers comply with their contractual obligations. Under the Smith Broughton Seller Auction Contract (Clause 2 – Seller’s Warranty), sellers are required to declare known faults, even where equipment is sold on an “as is” basis.
My situation was handled constructively by Chris Rocci, and a fair and amicable outcome was ultimately reached between myself and the seller without the need for formal escalation.
Overall, I appreciated the way the matter was managed and resolved, and Chris Rocci’s efforts in facilitating a positive outcome. Based on this experience, I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase through Smith Broughton again.

communication. The Management team prior was old school and this is not a criticism on the ground crew but the upper management as they were once a great team before and hope someone else competes with them to show how it can be done.
Follow-up · They did not take into consideration the complexitity of being an outsider looking in on using their Auction plaform and verbally admitted there was an issue but just brushed it off and then punished without openly talking about it. then to find that it was smashed and all its components sitting in a cardboard box in the depths of the machine which couldn't be seen from the outside. I took photos and sent straight through to Kim P on the Friday arvo at knock off time. On the Monday he contacted me and asked me to return it with a full credit to be given back. The promptness and Integrity of this company and salesman Kim P is second to None. I applaud you for sorting an ugly situation instantly, Thankyou
Rock breaker tool – I had a rock breaker moil . Took it to smith & Broughton. They said they wouldn't put a reserv on it. The last one they sold for over $2000. My tool new ($3300). $75.00. I would of got more for scrap metal. Called the manager. He said tuff luck. Think one of there own brought it to resell at a later date. Seeking legal advice / a current affair. Don't trust this company. Never use this company ever again .

Great Service – Always have great service when purchasing or selling at Smith Broughton. Would use these guys over other companies any day. Girls at the front desk are also very helpful. Have had a few bargains as well, always a good win.

Beware Smith and Broughton online auctions – I sadly bought from this company online, never again, very slick operators. I bought 2 portable generators advertised as 2 Kva, to the man in the street 1Kva equals 1.000 watts,so 2 Kva =2,000 watts. that the were not in fact 2,000 watts, they came up with a very convenient formula that 1600 watts equates to 2 Kva, which in a roundabout way is correct, so why not sell them as 1600 watts.They said it states that ,plainly on the compliance plate and in the book, but you don't get this information until you've paid for them and taken them home and opened the box,The emphasis on the ad is " Yamaha Powered ", they don't say the generator part is Senci China, who are nearly impossible to contact for repairs or parts, as there is no warranty, I don't know if they are even Australian approved.There is nothing anywhere that says so. I'm looking into that part. Sadly I found out after paying $2,200 at Auction , this is their own venture and they sell them online for $600, they Auction 3, every few weeks, I wonder why.
