If anything this sharpener or any other tungsten sharpener should only be used to create a crude edge where you will further sharpen it with a diamond file to finish the edge - you should also finish the edge with a fine Arkansas stone and dont use any oil - then lap on leather or cardboard.

There is also a ceramic scisor sharpener on its side that doesnt work either? Its a complete gymic tool that's dangerous to use and frightens me; I've sharpened machete's and other large blades by traditional methods and never felt so insecure when I used this for the first time and strangely the last time!
