Excellent camera, excellent display screen and light weight – Excellent camera. At 10fps was our main reason for purchasing as we wanted to capture lots of action shots of our kids at athletics. Takes beautiful pictures and is very light weight compared to most other DSLR cameras. Easy to use with easy to read colour displays. Really love the Panorama setting as well. size and weight, easy to read display screens, 10fps for shooting sports, lots of functions functions.
Excellent – On our last trip overseas, we took 2,700 photos and 30 minutes of HD video. Only 3 pictures were unusable. This camera is great for families who like to record HD videos and take high quality photos without having to lug around heavy equipment or commit to the effort of constantly adjusting camera settings. Easy to use point and shoot camera that gives terrific results. 10 frames per second is class leading and allows you to capture fast moving action ie. kids. Standout feature is the HD video recording that has the best autofocusing system on any SLR type camera available. Lightweight enough to carry around all day which is an important trait, great for women. LCD screen is large, clear, bright and conveniently allows for movement through the articulation joint. The screen is good enough to rely upon without needing to refer to the viewfinder. Low light shots are enhanced with multiple joined pictures - smart. Panorama function works a treat and is fun to use. Super steady shot in HD video recording works for arount 2 and a half minutes before it overheats and shuts down for about 3 minutes - best to turn it off and use a tripod. I have read that power consumption is high so you will need an extra battery just in case.

I purchased my Sony SLT-A55V in Dec 2011 and have found it to be an exceptional camera. The range of options on picture-taking styles and methods is substantial. I've found the picture quality to be superb, and the controls quite well laid out.
I'm still finding out features of this amazing camera 4 mths after I started using it. All the reports I read on it, it was highly placed in points out of 10, regularly scoring 8 and 9 out of 10 from reviewers and users, so this was the reason I purchased it. The GPS feature is great for tracking down where you took a photo.
Pros: Versatile, good weight (not heavy), excellent build quality, vast amount of features. Choice of LCD or viewfinder framing, which is shifted automatically from LCD screen to viewfinder mode, once you place your eye to the viewfinder.
Cons: "Function" button is a little too close to thumbgrip area, and can sometimes be accidentally activated by ones thumb. No camera bag in deal. Battery life could be a little better, but this can be adequately covered by carrying a spare charged battery.
