Excellent Customer Service – We had a problem with our Sony Bravia TV we bought in late 2016, which stopped working in 5 years and 3 months to be precise. Since it was beyond the 5 year extended warranty period, we were not covered by that anymore. I contacted Sony Customer Service and Jan was extremely helpful. I am impressed with the promptness and efficiency with which the… Read more
issue has been resolved to our satisfaction. We had a Sony technician come over and fix our TV within a few days of me reaching out to Customer Support. Thanks Jan!
Sony KD75X8500D 75" is fantastic High quality TV – It is just a stunning TV. No problems ever. Fantastic quality videos, picture resolution. Sony really take care about their electronic technology. The TV is very strong and heavy, so kids do not have the power to push it from the table for a damage as normally happens with Samsung TVs, I recommend it highly to every one. Show details
Very disappointing. Only 4.5 yrs old and HDMI board seems to have ceased to perform – Bought new in Perth, WA 22/08/2016. HDMI board 1 and 3 ceased to operate from 19/01/2021. So Foxtel , Netflix , and all downloads don’t function. HDMI 2 is used for Bose DVD/CD player and sound system I have been advised that it seems the whole board needs replacing. Or get a new TV. I paid AUD$2,200.00 for the TV. So it seems like very… Read more
poor value for money. I have had several Sony Radios, TV’s VHS, CD and Sony cassette players over the years. Time I guess to go elsewhere and try a different manufacturer . Not Sony.

Freezes, apps crash, resets, internet fails – This TV has been a nightmare and I wouldn't recommend it, especially considering how much it costs. We've had it serviced under warranty a number of times and now Sony are simply saying "we don't know, we can't help you anymore". Perhaps a replacement TV would help?? I don't know if it's across the board for this model or we just got a lemon but… Read more
we've had numerous problems:
-apps repeatedly crash upon opening them and the screen just goes black,
-the TV freezes and spontaneously resets which takes a few minutes before it comes back on,
-a couple of times a week we have to run a full factory reset just to get the TV to respond from it's frozen state. This takes 20minutes and requires the full set-up as if the TV is brand new.
-the TV often won't connect to the internet but it's not a problem with our router because at the same time, all other TV's and devices in the home are connected just fine.
-the lip sync is out and so the picture is often ahead of the audio being heard
We've been really unhappy, I'd be wary to buy a Sony TV again after this.
Stylish and quality picture – The picture quality of the 4K display is fantastic. The colours are vibrant without being over the top. The processors in built to the TV do a great job of smoothing the video when watching animation. The speakers are loud, clear and do the job for in built speakers. You won't be wowed, but they are good for the job. The unit has plenty of… Read more
appropriate ports including HDMI ports and at least 3 usb ports, component etc.
Android TV is the operating system that gives this TV its smarts. It's been updated a few times since I've had the TV and keeps getting better. The apps are great and I love being able to run the VLC app as well as the free TV apps such as iView, SBS on demand, channel 7 etc. I think Android OS is a fantastic addition with some great functions. The only problem is on occasion the TV will present a 'bug' such as not showing video after running a demanding movie from the USB.
Overall this is a fantastic TV that I woul recommend to anyone. I've compared this to a friends Samsung TV after purchase and I'm still very happy with my choice for both visual quality and Android TV capabilities.
Awesome upscaling – There's a lot to love about this TV. While 3D really hasn't seen the update I'd hoped for, I really enjoy it from time to time. I much prefer passive over active, and having 4K means there's still plenty of pixels to go around when dividing it up for 3D content. So far, there haven't been too many 4K titles worth watching (hardly any in fact), but… Read more
those we've watched are nothing short of incredible in picture quality. Hopefully in time there will be more 4K content worth watching.
After checking out a lot of units in store, in the end it was hard not to buy one with the Bravia engine. The depth of the blacks is great for a non-OLED panel, and the colours (particularly the reds) really pop. However, the vast majority of what we watch is free-to-air or streamed, so the resolution is much, much lower than 4K. While it might seem that all those pixels are going to waste, it seems to me that the Bravia engine is doing a brilliant job of processing/upscaling these low-resolution sources. Normally SD content is almost unwatchable on a large screen, however on the X8500D it looks significantly better than any of the non-Bravia TVs.

Simply love it! – Brought it new for a year now to replace my faulty samsung 55" after 8 years. The picture quality is closer to natural colour than samsung. Only shortfall is when playing black background the colour looks more like a very dark grey rather than just black. The built-in speakers are ok but the tv works much greater with a soundbar (Sony HTCT790).… Read more
The tv remote works on the soundbar via HDMI ARC so there is no need for two remotes. There are more than enough HDMI ports than I needed. One for soundbar, one for HTPC, one for PS4 and still one spare HDMI. The android works well in the tv but becoming more laggy after a few software updates.
Timeless piece – 1. Picture quality is perfect! Very bright and colourful I love it! 2. Great sound quality! Filled with clarity and bass 3. Simple and easy to use which is great! 4. Very satisfied with it being a smart TV. The interface is very easy to use and fun! Overall it is a great product Show details
Stunning – I will never change sony tvs so much love and respect for this company then LG Picture quality is awesome and 55 inch is very enough iam happy good price with great value maybe in 2022 I would change to Oled after the price drop down it looks great too LG C8 Show details
Negative reviews
Absolute android rubbish – Sony use Android to run their smart TVs. When it does an update Sony do not test the update and it has now effectively made my Tv useless. The factory reset does not work. Samsung and LG use their own system Show details
Over price and loaded with bloatware – ok enough display, weird bugs with the Sony volume service. Great once upgraded to AndroidTV 8 and disabled all the Sony bloatware; suggested apps and other junk i never needed/wanted Show details
Doesn't record TV – I am shattered as it does not record live tv. A smart TV that can't record tv onto an external hard drive. Disgusting. I just wasted $3500. Do not buy this TV if you want the option of recording live tv. Show details

Started off great. Now it’s glitchy and keeps shutting down – Bought this through HN about a year and a half ago (2017) paired with a Yamaha sound bar. Set it up to do automatic software updates. It was great the first year, then earlier this year it started to become glitchy. It would shut down every few minutes and the Android logo would come up on screen, like when it’s rebooting. It’s started happening… Read more
so often that we’ve been unable to watch anything, Netflix or even terrestrial broadcasts. I’ve tried manually updating the software and even did a factory reset. We’ve only downloaded a couple of extra apps that didn’t originally come preloaded with the TV.
Have to try and see if we can get it repaired or serviced. Thankfully we purchased the extended warranty. We’ll now know if that’s worth the paper it’s printed on.
Will update if I hear from the seller/Sony.

Example: Can live without those poor-excuse-for-a-blacks – This TV is reasonably acceptable for normal TV viewing save for movies with dark scenes. Holy crap it looks terrible then. So far from black its distracting. The operating system is ok but id prefer a dumb tv anyday and then just add a real box via HDMI The HDR looks marginally better than non-HDR I guess. Really not a big deal. I’ve seen… Read more
my brother in laws 2018 model and blacks are much improved (he paid a premium tho!) and his HDR is a bit better. This one only offers HDR10 whereas the newer ones have Dolby Vision which is a bit better.
Howzat for a review ey?
Im disappointed every time I watch a movie with dark scenes, I cant lie. Sports are ok. Movie watching kinda sucks unless its all daylight scenes
Happy with our purchase – I bought this TV recently to upgrade our existing Sony Bravia which is still going strong after 10 years. The picture quality is fantastic and the improvements like wifi connectivity and onboard apps via the Android OS are great. I have a Fetch TV box and sound bar so won't be using in-built sound or apps much but good to know the options are… Read more

I hope quality control at Sony is as good as it was for our original TV. I bought from Good Guys with an additional 5 year warranty for peace of mind as apparently TVs only come with a 1 year manufacturers warranty these days which is disappointing given the cost of these things.
Great Tv – I was looking for a TV for long time and eventually I made my decision with help of friend. It's great android television.easy to use it easy to connect Great definition good sound .plenty of applications. Low energy cost Absolutely suggesting . Its worst for money. I purchased from ji-bi hifi with best deal Show details
Major software glitch had to be replaced after 3 days – Poor operating system has been replaced after 3 days which is a major hassle. Pic quality is average and we have amazing antenna reception. Don’t even bother watching sport on it live sport mode is a complete waste of time. Won’t buy Sony again if this is their level of quality. Show details
Awesome Television ! – Sony X8500D is an excellent TV with world class picture and sound quality. The 65inch screen is pleasure to watch with Triluminous technology the picture makes a difference. It is based on a Android platform which is OK but Sony should think about launching there own platform, android system sometimes hangs up and then you have to reset the TV… Read more
set. Overall its been a great experience owning and watching Sony x8500D TV. The screen panel is ultra thin, not more than the thickness of a smart phone. If you have small kids better get a screen belt which holds the TV firmly and secures it to the TV cabinet. Controls on TV are located at a convenient location and can be reached easily. To end up I would say nothing compares to a Sony.
Beautiful screen – This model of Sony TV is absolutely banging. At first I didn't believe the 4k hype but now I do. The picture quality of the screen is stunning. The display is beautiful. I'm not sure if it's oled or led, but whatever it is Sony has impressed me a lot. The TVs speakers are loud enough, not much stereo though and there are an ample amount of ports.… Read more
The smart TV functionality is there but I just use a laptop to connect to the TV. Best TV I have purchased in my life.
Good TV but not perfect – After some calibration I'm happy with the picture quality. The set uses edge / frame lighting which is ok but there is some light bleed. Speakers are almost useless, I wouldn't recommend relying on the speakers alone. Buy a simple soundbar, even a 2.1 channel package is a vast improvement over the built in speakers. Android TV is ok, however… Read more
there is some annoying lag while navigating between input sources or within the Android home screen itself. The lag can be reduced by reducing background processes running but it's not perfect. There is also lag when waking the TV from sleep mode.
The most annoying feature is the lack of a A2DP bluetooth profile. Without this you will not be able to pair bluetooth headphones to the TV. I ended up getting a pair of FM / High Fi wireless headphones which work fine.
The TV works well with other Sony Products including the PS4
IT'S SO BIG – WHY DON'T TVs come with the stand build in already? This Sony Bravia 75 inch monster of a TV is stunning but man o man was it a challenge to unbox! The instructions don't have words just drawings! Anyway, we managed to put it together without breaking it. Actually you can check out our video of the setup here too: https://youtu.be/epIHBJdC5Fg … Read more
Ok, the PROS
+ Stunning Picture Quality
+ Stunning Design
+ Very Small Stand with Cable Management
+ Good Sound
+ Built in Chromecast
CONS
- Android is SLOW and BUGGY
- ...Seriously changing the volume is choppy, it jumps from 5 to 13 to 35
- It's thin but that comes at a cost, as it's very flimsy.. our TV developed a crack from the slightest bump
- Repair costs of the crack was as Sony customer support put it "it's cheaper to buy a new TV"
OVERALL 4/5
Never Ever Again – Will never buy a sony product again. Tv has been faulty since 3-4 months after purchase. Tv tuning Gippsland and Tasmania channels with no picture displayed.(Live in Melb metro area). Netflix stops working randomly, tv freezes and reboots randomly, deleted channels reappear, program list doesn't display stored channels, channel change slow/laggy.… Read more
(Other 2 tv's in house (Samsung and Hisense) have never had any issues at all. O/S customer service call centre hopeless, very hard to communicate with. Have performed over 8 factory resets at Sony's request. Up to 5th service call, have had mother board replaced(my brand new tv is now refurbished) still have same issues. After mother board replaced my 65 inch tv became a 55 inch tv. Info was displaying K55 X8.... instead of K65X8500D. Really????? Over 6 months later and no resolution. They have now taken tv away for assessment.(I'm not making this up, this is 100% true) No offer of replacement or refund as I've requested numerous times. Only positive was picture quality on hd viewing (only) very good. Audio quality very poor. Needs sound bar. This whole experience has been an absolute nightmare and I will never go near another sony product again. Should have bought the Samsung or Hisense which is what I set out to buy and not listened to the pushy salespeople in all 3 stores JB, Harvey N, and Good guys all pushing the Sony???? Allowing 3 attempts to repair product is more than enough in mine and most peoples opinion. Product has been discontinued, geeeee I wonder why???

Sony Android TV – IT includes 4K up-scaling but we decided to turn it off, because in some programs it makes the picture worse. The remote quality is okay and Netflix button is handy. We are extremely happy with this TV and would recommend it, the only problem in that the home screen takes up the whole space which is quite annoying at times. Show details
Best all round tv – This tv has prefect picture. Great features such as the ability to cast anything from a mobile device. With the android operating system you can down load any app from the Google play store. Full 4k integration with net flix and other popular streaming services such as stan and hey you. Show details
Excellent TV – Bought this sony KD 55x 8500D about 3 years ago. Image quality is top comes with 4k capability. The movie and games running smoothly and never have the problem of opening the tv. The sound is especially well when I compared with a friend having a Samsung TV. Highly recommended. Show details
The quality is good, but it could be better with OLED – On the boxing days 2016, I bought this TV and have been using until now. It is still going well, my son plays the game every day and the quality of the pictures are excellent. I compared the quality with the Hisense one and I don't regret with my purchase. Show details
Image is Brilliant – We bought a Samsung and loved it, but it had a problem so back it went and we replaced with our Sony. The picture is brilliant, can't fault it, sound is good. We haven't had any issues with sound delay which drove me nuts with the Samsung. We did have an issue that every 5 minutes the sound would drop for a second or two. We thought it was the… Read more
internet. After much mucking around and trying to sort out with JB HiFi, we called Sony direct on their advice and couldn't be more stoked. It was trouble shot with an operator with good english, and something that had been a problem for about 9 months, was gone forever! Haven't been happier, didn't want to have to change out another TV. Sony got it right and I am a longtime Samsung fan..maybe I've switched!
Do Not buy – Purchased this TV 1 year ago and it stopped working four days before Christmas. Sony customer service (Filipino call center) was hard to understand and secondly hopelessly provided a potential time to repair from 1 to two weeks even though they knew the problem just by me saying the TV stopped working (obviously a common fault) but they don't… Read more

I have a sharp LED that is 10 years old that we are hoping will stop working because it is so heavy and it still keeps going. This Sony cant last 1 year.
Should have bought a Samsung!
Image quality is top – Bought this TV last month but I wanted some time to try it before reviewing. Watched all the old Star Wars on it before watching the new one and the image quality is very deep and good. Even if it's a bit slow to respond sometimes I would recommended this TV for sure. Do not buy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! – We have had issues with this TV that is 9 months old. It resets itself. Sony tried several different things over the phone, they sent someone out to replace a part. great picture. poor responsiveness – after alot of investigating I finally settled on this tv due to its picture quality in the shops and being a sony I don't think you can go too far wrong. on the not so good side the playback through the usb is extremely slow. rectified easily though by downloading an app called kody.
Best picture ever – The picture quality of this TV is amazing. We got it for a great price last Christmas from the end of year sony store sales. It works with the xbox one x with all the settings. It may be the 8500E. Not 100% sure. I would recommend this unit to everyone looking for a large flat screen. Show details
Our second Sony tv now – This is really my husband's purchase. We all laugh because he puts so much effort into researching anything electronic that he wants to buy that sometimes the product becomes obselete before he purchases it. Speakers are great. I sometimes just put it on Foxtel and listen to music and it's great.
Plenty of ports. We have PS3 and PS4 connected as well as Foxtel. Mostly we use USB port outside of that.
As a smart TV it's pretty fun. I love that you can cast from your phone or tablet quickly/easily.
...we probably don't use enough of the features. It's a bit of a learning curve as you keep discovering new functions. Our child seems very proficient at navigating around the features. (hating to admit that I am getting old!)
A very good brand – We have been purchasing their products for ages. They will never disappoint you. We bought this tv when the sale was on with free extended warranty. The picture quality is great. We think 8500D series is very enough for most channels and human eyes. The built-in speakers is very good so don't think we need to buy other speakers to amplify the… Read more

Never had a better TV – This is definitely the best TV i've ever owned. Easy to use good features and most importantly the picture is amazing. It has a wide viewing angle which makes it really great.
