Tv will die just out of warranty – When turning on always need to wait a minute or two for it to connect to the wifi, and At about the 3 year mark when its out of warranty it will decide it does not want to turn on anymore. After googling sounds like a common issue with this TV. So if you like to spend about a grand a year on a TV then this is the one for you. Show details

No Power Just out of Warranty – The Sony Bravia (KD65X8500F) no longer switches on via remote nor on the television and is appears to be a common problem amongst the Sony customer base - the reputation Sony developed as a leading electronics company in C20 is now a distant memory. The engineer's have down their job well for the television to no longer power-up just after the… Read more

warranty just lapsed. Sony Customer Care advise that it's a chargeable cost? Presumably it all fell apart for Sony when they moved manufacturing from Japan to China....

Sony service - Appalling! – Had TV 14months into 36month warranty. insect got into screen, Sony refused repair, broke consumer law. 2months later still trying to have it fixed. Sony, expensive, terrible service - will never buy Sony again - avoid! - irresponsible company that holds its customers in contempt. very angry Show details

Disappointing TV set – I am absolutely disappointed with this TV. Everything works very poorly. The interface is not great and a terrible lag is present on every single option you choose: starting an app, going to the home menu, opening the TV guide, etc. It feels like using a 10-year-old computer. Sounds breaks every second when connected to a Bluetooth speaker. I… Read more

tried it with 2 different high quality bluetooth speakers which work like a charm with other devices like Macs, iPhones and even Android phones. Sony Support replied saying that the Bluetooth is only for wireless mouse and keyboard (even though their web page confirms it supports Bluetooth 4.1 A2DP profiles). This TV is connected to the Internet through the Ethernet interface, still from time to time Netflix shows low res image due to poor bandwidth.

The worst TV I have ever owned. Sony should be ashamed – Nothing works properly, everything is incredibly slow, wifi drops out constantly then can't reconnect and the TV must be rebooted. There isn't a single redeeming feature about this TV and I've been a big fan of Sony TV's for years. Show details

Extremely disappointed – As a family, we were very pleased with our television. Fast forward 15 months and we have a dead tv with no screen and an error light flashing. I have been in touch with Sony support and worked through some tests that they emailed. Still no picture! I am most dismayed by the response that we have received: As the TV is out of the warranty period… Read more

(by just 3 months!) we will need to pay for repair, or we can have a 25% discount on any Sony TV! My husband will be back in touch, as I believe that we are still protected under consumer law in this case. Still, I am horrified to be offered a discount on a new TV! This would be a well received response with an older unit, but no thank you, Sony - not if you consider that a 15 month lifespan is acceptable! Disgraceful aftercare.

What a POS – We bought this TV recently. On first glance it's all good. 2 mths later we've started to notice the bugs and quirks. It's a hot day today in Melbourne. Air con is on but can't get reception on the tv. Re-ran the tuning program on full auto scan and it only picks up 16 channels. (Half of these are audio only). NOT IMPRESSED! So we thought we'll… Read more

watch a movie off a usb stick, easy right? NO!! If you want to change from 1 movie to another on the usb you have to unplug then reinset the stick to get to menu. We have an old PANGOO tv that is more user friendly than this garbage that Sony flog. I argued against a Sony after owning a Z3 phone a few years back and lost out. Now my partner is frustrated with me because Sony sell garbage that is frustrating and poorly made. I must say that at Netflix works, otherwise there would mayhem. Tried calling a helpline. Sony is only open Mon-Fri. Not even a call help centre in Mumbai. Sony you've lost another customer to your competitors. Well Done

WOW – We stuck with Sony after our last unit 42" 2006 Sony Bravia was faultless, So stoked we did. A crystal clear picture, so sharp. Only had this a week but so far so GREAT. Will update my review as time goes on if need be. We paired this with the Sony HTZ9RF sound bar and they work perfectly together.  Show details
