Good phone and miss it RIP – Good phone size, apps, battery life but after sometime (just after warranty expired)the screen decided to stop working in the middle section. Went to the specialist charged me 1/2 price of buying a new same phone but still was unable to fix it. Show details
Excellent phone at a compact size – The z3 Xperia compact is a great phone that offers the performance of a full sized phone but in the compact size making it handy when required to be carried in your pocket all day. Show details
A Great phone – I love this phone, it is compact and easy to use. The Experia interface with Android is intuitive and simple. The power saving features mean I only have to charge it once a week. The 20.7 megapixel camera is fantastic and gives a digital zoom that is amazing. As a side note I purchased this model with a quad core processor rather than a later one… Read more
with octocore processor as believe this offers the best speed/ power efficiency/ value for money mix. The screen size while still giving a compact phone that is comfortable in my pocket is large enough that when turned landscape is about as wide as a paperback novel and make reading e books a pleasant experience. I believe Sony phones offer some of the best value for money in the market at the moment and highly the Z3 compact.
Lasted just over a year – Okay while it works but have lost use of both home/back/recent apps buttons and notification window. I bought this off ebay with no warranty (silly I know) but judging by the comments on the main sony experia page it would be almost the same price to buy another phone and this is a recurring problem that sony has refused to acknowledge. reading the forum at the link below- basically cheap shortlived crap. Also deliberately manufactured so that most headphones other than specially designed ones work with it. Avoid. [weblink removed]
died after 1.5 years – it was a great phone in the beginning. processing speed is fast, camera is great, screen size is just what i needed. top spec phone of that time. however, one day it just died and became a brick. i googled the solution for this matter and went to a mobile repair shop, nothing could work. it seems that sony has this kind of issue for a long time… Read more
but there is so solution at all. having a sony phone is like a ticking time-bomb, you never know when its going to die on you.
Don't buy this from grey market retailers! – Poor sound quality on the first and replacement phone, issues with warranty being honoured (they are refusing), much time wasted that I'll never get back. Big impact on your life when people can't hear you talking on the phone. This should have been a great phone but a bad retailer has let it down, twice! Show details
Good product hopeless support – I used my phone for almost a year then the screen started on and off by itself. Sony send me a refurbished phone with same issue. I lost my data bank of photos takan over a year and all my contacts. This is a very usuall issue for Sony if you'll search on internet and they didn't try to fix the refurbished handset or at least test it before send it for me. Show details
Miss my little Sony – I miss my little old Sony Z3. I got it and honestly was pleasantly surprised. Here was a phone that was comfortable to work, fitted perfectly in the palm of my hand and did everything. And did it admirably. I don't believe I ever had any serious issues like lag etc. Unless I was charging and heavily using the phone as well, that was the only time… Read more
it would heat up.
Battery life was simply amazing. Decent camera. Everything just seemed to work. Nicely put together phone. Used it for over 2 years which is a long time for me because I use phone heavily for work.
Does everything I need – I'm sorry to read that Sony look like discontinuing the Z compact models - there isn't much else like them on the market. Mine has been great - amazing battery life, very good camera, durable, responsive and best of all - fits easily into any pocket. A bit chunky, which some people might not like, but I suppose that's what allows that great battery life (up to 7 days in my case).
Good smartphone – Good camera. Easy to handle and quick to respond. I wouldn't class it as a waterproof phone so don't go dipping it in water however It does handle light splashes of water. After a year or so I woke up to find I had a none responsive phone. It wouldn't charge or turn on. Luckily it was covered by warranty and so I sent it off. I had it back within 7 days with a new motherboard installed. 6 months on and have not had any issues with it.
Not bad, but not perfect – I have a white Sony Xperia Z3 compact and I like it very much. Its water resistancy level is overexaggerated. Wash it and you will have to use a handsfree for at least a week after that . Otherwise it is a cool device. The camera is good and it makes nice pictures.
The best smartphone I've ever used! – I've had this for two years now and I'm the envy of my mates with the battery life! At first the battery life was 3-5 days in Stamina mode easily. Try that with an iPhone or Samsung. But after two years it's 2-3 days battery life now. And what an awesome camera! My daughter has an iPhone 6 and my wife has a Samsung Galaxy 5 but when you check out… Read more
the difference in photos on a huge HD screen, the Sony is the best by far. And has 4K video recording too.
Great size, waterproof, and some nifty exclusive to Sony apps like Crackle make this the best phone among my contemporaries. I only wish that the Sony tablet was as cheap as the Samsung Galaxys, as I would buy that too in a heartbeat!
Waterproof feature is great for photos in or around the pool. Some underwater shots have been my favourites. Found out Bluetooth doesn't work underwater.
But you apparently cannot use it in salt water, so don't buy for that purpose.
But it's not perfect...
If it gets too hot from being on your dashboard on a hot summer day, the camera won't work until it cools down.
Amazing Functionality That Fits Easily In Your Pocket – Excellent battery life and amazing camera. Not restricted to certain Apps. Also seems quite durable. I find it to be essential for modern living and keeping connected. Personally I have not had any speed problems and find it recharges quickly. Excellent value for money and one of my best buys.

Sim cover is easily opened by accident – I have been using it for a year. Battery life is good, only charge one a day for normal usage. but the microsd and sim cover are loose and easily opened by accident. And I lost it now. I wish they redesign it. Never try the waterproof, so I dont know
Fantastic Phone – First off the size of this phone is perfect, i found the regular Z3 was too difficult for me to hold, but the compact fits perfectly in my hands, resulting in easy use. Also the camera on this phone is incredible, i was not expecting the quality i got when taking photos and was very impressed. I love the addition of it being water proofed, being… Read more
the klutz i am this is just a little marker or safety i have appreciated being there, and have also found this to be quite a durable phone surviving many drops without a scratch.
Pretty good but a bit slow – Size and battery life of this phone is great but I've had it almost 6 months & it is starting to get slow. For example, my text messages take a few second to load now. Also, emails in the gmail app will not delete. When I delete them on my phone they come back 4 or 5 times before they are actually gone for good. I've tried a lot of things recommended on online forums but nothing has worked. I've never had this issue before with previous phone.
Great camera on this phone, has performed well – Apart from getting hot when used too much in video mode, as it is the compact model, I love this phone. I bought it because the camera has an actual camera chip in it and is 20mp, plus it is waterproof. Have used it under water and to just wash it off after a bit of sea spray and sticky kids prints. The images do not look as amazing as the… Read more
Samsungs phones as they have the amazing screen with an enhanced display.
Loaded on the computer, my images are great and I use them on my wickedwalkabout website. Having an actual shutter button mean I can get my exposure as I like it by aiming at a lighter or darker area, holding the shutter button half way and then framing the image to take the shot. This is ideal for back lit photos.
Overall this is a great phone, with 16gb internal staorage and an option to insert an external sd card means I have been able to put in a high speed 64gb external crd and can take thoudands of photos! Love it.
pretty good – I got a loan then I bought the waterproof sony z3 compact smartphone from the telstra shop then charged it up / the sony z3 compact is just basically a smaller version of the sony z3 smartphone / I found the smartphone easy to use / I have even dropped the phone twice over 2 occasions and smashed the screen and the sony z3 compact is still going… Read more · 2
well after 6 months of regular service / even though I would not really trust it as being totally waterproof I would totally recommend the sony z3 smartphone series to anyone who could afford it
