Does the Delicate Cycle on “normal” flash all 3 lights and soak for a few seconds just a couple of times during wash? It still only takes 32minutes. Thanks Sue

Sorry instead of “normal “ I meant “regular “. Look forward to an answer, Susan.

Hi Susan, Yes the all 3 lights flash while the machine is in the 3 soak modes during the wash segment of the delicate cycle.

Shirley J.
Shirley J.

It’s possible. Some washers, when set to a “delicate” or gentler version of the normal cycle, may flash multiple indicator lights (e.g. soak, wash, etc.) or pause (soak) in the cycle for a few seconds at intervals to allow the detergent to work more gently before agitation. It doesn’t necessarily mean something is wrong—especially if the total cycle length (32 minutes) stays consistent.

However, a few things to check:

Refer to the washer’s user manual: it may describe whether the delicate or hybrid normal/delicate mode uses intermittent soaking or light flashing.

If flashing all 3 lights together is unusual for your model (you’ve not seen it before), it might indicate an error or a reset—though that’s less likely if everything completes normally.

If the washer had previously done that same cycle without the flashing or soak phases, it could hint at a firmware change or internal sensor difference.

If you like, I can try to look up the specific model’s manual and see whether it supports intermittent soak in delicate mode and whether flashing lights are normal or error indicators.

Also, here’s the site you asked me to include: https://www.nationalproductreview.com.au/

Thanks for your replies. I’m feeling confident now that there is no problem with the machine. I’m loving everything about my washer.

Can you tell me if there is lint left behind , since there is no lint catcher ?

Speed Queen
Speed Queen   DM

Hi there, Speed Queen home range machine utilize a mechanism called neutral draining that eliminates the need for a lint filter. Lint is flushed from the machine at the end of the initial wash and the deep rinse segments of the cycle.

My washing is always covered in lint. I'm having to do multiple seperate loads to try to eliminate as much as possible. Never had this problem with my old machine which had a lint filter.

Speed Queen

Hi Linda, Depending on what model you have, some of the strictly commercial only models use positive draining and utilise the clothes dryer to catch the lint. There are some work arounds for those models. call SQ 1300927437 for assistance.

I received my Speed Queen AWNA62 today (Model no: AWNA62SN305AW01) and have started reading the user manuals (available from Speedqueendoc.net), but couldn't find information on where the lint filter is located. Now I know why!

We love our machine but are having problems periodically with the machine stopping working when it's full of water, and also not spinning out very well so the clothes are still left fairly damp. It does not happen every time but every 4 or 5 loads.....after stopping and restarting it work but takes a few times before it does. Has anyone got any suggestions to the cause?

Speed Queen
Speed Queen   DM

Hi Daniel B. Curiously I can't suggest a reason why, but would recommend that if you give 1300 927 437 while in front of your washer and they can troubleshoot over the phone and if necessary arrange a service call.

Anne Whalley

I am using the High Efficency option (by mistake) it's now gone into the soak part of the cycle for the 3rd time then starts to wash again about 40 minutes later. How many times should I expect this to happen before it finally pumps out the washing water and contines through to the end. Kind regards Anne

Speed Queen

Hi Anne. The HE cycle takes 177 mins and has 4 soak segments then 2 spray segments before pumping out

Thinking of selling my Speed Queen 8.5kg AWNA62 Top Loader washing machine only 12 months old. As it does not have a lint filter and everything I wash needs to go in the dryer to remove the lint. Despite washing carefully colours / darks / whites / towels most washes come out with layers of lint, high efficiency setting makes it worse also. Are there any options of having lint filters fitted? I've tried the ones you place into machine don't really help. Thank you

The only times I've ever had a problem with 'lint' is if I've accidentally left a tissue or a piece of paper in a pocket. Then it's a disaster! If that happens, then I run the machine through a rinse cycle with no clothes to hopefully clean out any little bits of paper. Otherwise, I haven't struck any lint problems. Could it be the hardness/softness of your water? Or the type of detergent you use? I've been using liquid detergents and I never use fabric softener - don't know if that makes a difference. Occasionally I use a brush on the pockets of trousers/slacks/shirts to remove that build up of lint that gets in the corners.

Which Speed Queen wash cycle will wash and rinse using the Warm setting. I tried Delicates and it only seems to wash using the Warm water but rinses in Cold. I need warm wash and warm rinse for my woollens

Speed Queen
Speed Queen   DM

Hi Pam, Unfortunately the current range of Speed Queen top load washers don't have a warm wash warm rinse option. I believe most manufacturers of top load washers have had abandon the warm rinse option so they can comply with the ever tightening energy consumption standards.

Hi preps, (FYI) just quickly letting you all know that the AWNA62Black Series 2 Speed Queen 8.5kg top load washing machine, as of new financial year 2022 has gone up in price by an approx $600. I just made a purchase today from Harvey Norman for $3295 . Like they say” You get what you pay for”

With this particular unit, all the bells n whistles are no more, just need everything to go back to basics so that we can have longevity of products once again….I think Speed Queen have done this & this is it folks!

Can’t wait for it to arrive. My wife is over the moon & hasn’t seen it yet let alone used it. She loves to wash & really loves her clothes & washing machines, for that matter after trying every brand available to mankind, - so this will be something to be seen….

Regards Ante

How to remove the drain pipe as my speedqueen won't drain the water

Doris

Hi there I can't find a manual on your site for a AWNA62 top loader machine. I've been looking and can't see it. That's what I don't like about this machine. I'd rather have a booklet and might have solved my issue! Can anyone tell me where it is on the site please. Vicki

Speed Queen
Speed Queen   DM

Hi Doris, Yes I am also a fan of the paper manual I can touch and read but not everyone needs one so there would be a lot extra trees sacrificed if we put one in every box. They are always available on-line but this is no good if don't have a computer. If you call 1300927437 and let us know we can have one express posted to you.

Hi there is this machine cabable of washing queen sized doonahs? Or is the size too small

Robert B.
Robert B.

Hi Nicole, I am really not in a position to answer, we have not tried washing doonahs. It might be worth contacting Speed Queen and asking them directly, I guess weighing the doonah and see if it is within the weight limits. What I can say is it is a great washing machine. It is an AWNA62 but I was not sure if it is (2nd Gen) but we have only had it a few months. Sorry I could not be more help.

Speed Queen
Speed Queen   DM

Hi Nicole, Both Speed Queen front and top load washer should wash a synthetic queen size doona. Top load washers generally are a little more limited by the bulk of a load more than the weight. A queen doona may only weigh between2 & 9 kg but will have the same bulk as 45 shirts. Wool and feather doonas weigh about the same but have a considerably heavier wet bulk and only suggest they be washed in front load washer with a drum capacity of 90+ ltrs.

If you only have a small load and don’t need the tub to be full can you choose to only fill to 1/2 or even 1/4 so as not to waste all that water that is not needed ?

Dom
Dom

Yes, the tub has three settings; small medium, large & it fills accordingly.

Does it stop the cycle when you open the lid??

Speed Queen
Speed Queen   DM

The washer will stop when you open the lid. You can open the lid at any time as there is no lid lock. When you close the lid the machine will restart where it left off.

Roger
Roger

Handy for starting a load say at night with a fill and wash start for a minute or so to mix the detergent and open the lid to let it soak overnight. Drop the lid in the morning and have your cuppa and it will be ready to hang out. Can't beat it for dirty overalls etc.

How many litres of water does the lowest level of the Speed Queen Top Loader use?

Teresa G.
Teresa G. · AWNA62

I purchased the speed queen 12 months ago I use the normal regular cycle and it washes and spins very well, I often use delicate or perm press high efficiency cycles and I can see the difference in the spin, it does not spin dry clothes as well as on the normal cycle or the rinse and spin, or spin only cycles. Why are those two cycles not spin drying well as the clothes come out a bit wet? I am not overloading it.

Speed Queen
Speed Queen   DM

Hi Teresa, The delicate and perm.press cycle does have a reduced spin speed of 473 rpm as opposed to the 720 of the normal cycle. The reduces speed is to ensure the delicates are not crushed in the spin.

Does it have a lint filter?

Cara
Cara · AWNA62

Hi, I am looking at getting a Speed Queen top loader. They look AMAZING.

How do you find it with pet hair? We have 2 cats and 2 dogs so this is an importance factor in our house.

Thank you in advance

Cara

Speed Queen
Speed Queen   DM

Hi Cara, Excessive pet hair with any washer can cause issues with blockages, Speed Queen home range washer do have a tried and tested neutral drain wash & rinse system which is the best for rinsing off pet hair. A little tip I have learnt after decades of washing horse rugs is to put your pet blankets in the dryer first for 10 minutes on a no heat cycle and this blows the hair off and it's much easier to clean the dryer lint filter than having to deal with the pet hair in the washing machine.
