Complicated Application Process – This has to be the worst bank I've ever dealt with. Three weeks into my application for a Credit Card and 4 phone calls to their call center and not a single employee of this bank knows what's happening with my application. Call center wait times are outrageous and imagine waiting 40 minutes on the phone only to be told we will escalate to the seniors. Looks like the seniors are not bothered investigating escalations as I was told my application will be escalated on 4 separate occasions. If you need a credit card on time you are better off with other banks who know what they are doing.

Terrible service!! Lots of promises ... little reward – I'm giving up on St George Amplify! Sure, I love the idea of getting rewarded for our credit card purchases, but when St George Amplify do things like "log in via online banking" and then you get logged off for no apparent reason ... or when they actually say on their website: "Call the Amplify Rewards Centre on 1300 489 586, Available Monday – Sunday, 8am - 11pm (AEST) ..." and you call at 10pm (AEST) ... only to hear a message to say "you've called outside our business hours" ... or, you want to trade your points for flights, only to find out you can get the flights cheaper if you book direct ... then, you're starting to get the picture of why their service sucks and their 'rewards' are soooo difficult to redeem! I've given up on them, in absolute frustration, and will not renew my credit card, and will stop paying St George $395 pa for rubbish service and such disappointing, empty promises :(

Apply Elsewhere – I applied online and submitted everything. When I called the customer service to follow-up they said my application is incomplete but they couldn't tell me the details I have to complete! I was on the phone for an hour and they just kept transferring me to wrong departments. Their online application to retrieve data is not even working properly. Appalling service and application.

Long dreadful verification process after temporary approval – Everything seemed quite simple With initial signup and a surprisingly immediate approval with a credit limit of $20,000 subject to verification . Telephone contact with long wait of 15 minutes plus and then convoluted questioning and being placed on hold ... Allocate 30 minutes for each call . Notified them that the credit limit was way too excessive and I only wanted $6000 then literally after that I received an email requesting more verification and I needed to call again ... Then another email requesting me to call again wanting verification again of a bank statement I had already sent ... Then I flipped and said I wasn’t sending any more after waiting another 30 minutes on the phone and I received an email stating I would receive a response within two working days ... no response after Seven working days so I rang back and again a 20 minute wait , but then I was told I had been approved but there was some system error the week before . Card was mailed to me two days later ( Even though I Supposedly had to pick it up from a St George branch that I had to specify on my application ) ....nevertheless all has been fine . Online banking seems relatively simple .

A good card with some nice rewards – I signed up for this card because of the QFF points offered as a sign up bonus, and the low annual fee, but I found the sign up process frustrating. After being approved for the card I then had to go in to the branch to confirm my identification which was inconvenient. From what I have read online this doesn't happen to everyone, but it was annoying all the same.

Apart from that I found the card useful and easy to use. I tried both the iOS and Android apps and they worked well, and I was able to close the account easily from within the app without having to call and speak with anyone.
