I was Refunded a $11000 airfare to the Amplify Platinum card, and St George customer service say they do not allow transfer of excess credit to a bank account. This is not normal, have had no issues with other banks.

St George Amplify Visa - can't use for airline tickets – Well today I cancelled all my St George accounts. So sick of phoning St George to unlock my Visa credit card. This time they blocked it for trying to buy airline tickets, and I got stuck at the supermarket checkout with a trolley full and a declined card. Apparently buying airline tickets is a security risk! So I bought the tickets with my… Read more

Macquarie Bank Visa, no issues. Pointless having a credit card which won't let you buy airline tickets. Such a hassle of a bank to deal with. Have been a customer for 30 years. Not any more!

Terrible program - inept bank – Have wasted countless hours dealing with St George over the years, not sure why I expected the Amplify Rewards program to be any different. Avoid this bank and this card. Not worth your time. Show details

Generous rewards with fast approval & easy application – Decided to go for the Amplify Signature Credit Card after doing a major home loan refinance to St. George. The application and approval process was hassle free, easy and most importantly, quick. I literally got my card in just over a week after i applied and any questions i had were promptly answered by both the call center and branch i visited.… Read more

They even waived the yearly card fee because i am on a home loan package, so i basically earn all those points for free. Its so nice to get a good deal from a bank!!! Ill be with St. George for the long run i reckon :)

Contactless Payments - Can anybody fix this? – I Applied for a St George Amplify Signature Card and a supplementary card. I am responsible for the account and I ordered the supplementary card for my partner so we have both cards on the one statement. Both cards are issued with the same number giving them the same Virtual ID for contactless payments (ie. Google Pay). As both cards [issue 1 and… Read more

issue 2] have the same virtual ID but now we discover only one of the issued cards can be added to contactless payment (ie. Goggle Pay).

40 mins into my fifth phone call to customer service to get this fixed. The responses vary from.. you have to cancel the card and apply for another.. would you like me to send you an application form?!.. Sorry.. to we need to speak to the other card holder.. but they cannot join this call.. they have to call back on the 13... number and wait in line.. no they wont be able to see the notes on your profile, they have to start the process again... No we cant call them we have no outbound lines.

There doesn't appear to be an ability to help efficiently.. All I need to know is.. Can I get an Issue 2 card with a different virtual ID? If not.. whats the alternative?

AMEX do this really well. Apologies to St George if my expectations are too high after the exceptional service, product knowledge and technology available to me through AMEX customer service.

Additionally, When you want to set up auto payments.. you cant do that online.. You have to fill out a form and drop it off to a branch.. Oh and I'm sorry your local branch has just closed..

Which bank was supposed to make making banking easier?

Great card when the sign up bonus is available – I signed up for this card as part of the Qantas FF promotion. Great bonus and simple card with no extra fees. Easy process and great for everyday use. Amplify point scheme is a bit unusual but can be converted easily enough to Qantas FF. Show details

Great easy to get card for Qantas points – I got this card few months ago because of the wonderful signup offer and I got 90000 qantas points for that. If you want to accumulate qantas points this is the card for you, it got decent annual fee and they send qantas points directly to your account plus they give you complimentary qantas frequent flyer membership too. I have had two cards from… Read more

St George and the best thing about them is that they really understand your financials and cooperate with you during the whole process. I highly recommend them as an institution.

Good high end visa card with rewards – I got this card when there was a promotion with no first year annual fee and 100K Amplify rewards point. Signup bonus was the obvious reason to get this card. Please be aware the 100K points is only equal to 50K velocity points or qantas points so it is not as much as it looks compared with other reward credit cards with signup bonus say up to 80K… Read more

qantas points. However, I still got it mainly because it can convert into 50K Kris flyer points. There are very few credit card offerings for Krisflyer points so it was a big selling point for me.

As a high fee credit card, the international travel insurance covers more than other budget credit cards. Also I like the card comes with 2 priority pass lounge visits, which I believe it is better than the qantas lounge visits. The reason being the passes does not have to be linked to a Qantas flight. And there are restaurants in Melbourne airport accepta priority pass for $35 purchase so you can use one pass for 2 guests. So it is a lot more flexible overall.

Good card when combined with signup bonus – This is a decent black level VISA card which I would rate slightly superior the Westpac Altitude Black Qantas MasterCard. The card effectively earns 0.825 points/$ on regular spending (0.75 points/$ + 10% bonus points added on your Birthday for all previous spending on the card) which is a bit better than the 0.75 points/$ (with no bonus) for… Read more

the Westpac Black Qantas MasterCard. In addition the annual fee is slightly lower at $279 (compared to $250 + a $50 Qantas Fee on the Westpac MasterCard).

If signing up to this card try to aim for a Qantas Points Signup Bonus of 80000 to 90000 Points (these pop up every few months) and a reduced annual fee (occasionally they give you $100 off or even no annual fee for the first year). I was able to get 90000 points and a reduced 1st Year Annual fee when I signed up for this card which made this card very good value for me.

The card also comes with standard 'Black' tier credit card benefits e.g. travel insurance, 2x Qantas Lounge passes (if you buy a Qantas Flight on the card) and concierge service but I have not made use of these yet. I would definitely NOT use this card overseas as the 3% foreign transaction fee makes using this card poor value (compared to a few other credit and debit card products which charge 0% on foreign transactions).

The Qantas Points rewarded when using this card are transferred into my Qantas frequent flyer account as expected where they can be used for pay for Qantas flights or other items.

Overall I highly recommend this Card if you are eligible and can secure a good signup bonus with reduced 1st Year Fee.

60000 bonus points – Got 60000 bonus points immediately after I spent 4000$ in 3 months time. Online account was user friendly. Getting the approval was not that easy. Took several attempts to get approval for credit card. But annual fees was only $49. Show details

Good value card – There is not a lot to differentiate cards nowadays. The main difference between this and similar cards is the nice 10% birthday bonus on points. Annual fee is same or a little less than others and the 55 days interest free is worth a lot if you buy everything on card and utilise an offset account. Some cards only offering 44 days interest free,… Read more

and for large monthly credit card spend that is a significant saving in offset interest each year. I also get a big points bonus they were offering for new customers, but seems everyone doing that nowadays.

Good credit card but fees can be more transparent – The QFF rewards is a great feature. There is an ongoing annual cost but I got the credit card during promotional period and got the first year annual fee waived. There were a couple of occasions that they charged a transaction fee without any reasons. Had to call them and got the fee waived. A bit disappointed in that regard but I did receive an… Read more

apology and promise that this will not happen again. I guess it is probably the same with all other credit card providers, just need to check the transactions from time to time to make sure you are not being charged by fees that do not apply to you.

Impossibly slow application process – Approved for an account after an onerous application process as compared to other banks. 8 business days and counting later still not received the card. Keep getting emails and sms messages reminding me to activate my card. Terrible speed of delivery compared to NAB and Amex.

I love their mobile app – I was never a st george customer until they rolled out the Amplify Signature credit card with bonus Qantas flyers points, I absolute love the auto categorise features that comes with the app! Though it's not always 100% accurate, but it gives you a good ball park figure on what have you spent etc. Customer service is good too! Show details

Great customer service – Use this card for my everyday purchases. I find the online app easy to use to pay off the balance on time. I've spoken with customer service about the card and the experience was pleasant. Have it linked to qantas frequent flyer points and have found they come across as expected, sometimes it's just a little delayed. Overall no issues, just a very easy card to use. Show details

Approval easy, actual card issue process difficult, when arrived and activated was a good experience using and online – Applied for the card and was eventually approved many many months later due to IT glitches in St George Banks IT systems, annual fee deducted almost immediately despite the card being advertised as fee free for the first year, rang and got this annual fee reversed. actually credited after the min spend requirement was met. Setting up online through the St George portal was relatively easy, auto-debit function could be setup on line (unlike some other banks), process to close the card was relatively quick easy and painless, credit card dropped off credit file after 2 months.

Its ok – Not recommended to use overseas as attract OT fees. Great with Qantas bonus points and lounge passes. However annual fee is high. Free first year annual fee waiver is great. Other con is it take ages to transfer points to Qantas account. Mine took 3 months exactly .although it says up to 3 months Show details

Also Same As Banksa Amplify Signature – I was offered a Amplify Rewards credit card from BankSA (part of St George) with no annual fee and $15k limit. Choice of Amplify Rewards or Qantas points. I find it quite good as I never pay any interest as I pay off the balance each month. The Rewards are quite good too. Hubby needed a new shaver and it didn't take me long to rack up the point to buy same. Similar type of rewards as Flybuys. Customer service exceptional in my opinion. Show details

Application process inefficient – Applied for St.George Amplify Signature on-line which got declined, so rang customer service, and was advised reason being salary was not sufficient. answer at the end.

Suggestion: Similar to other banks, in the online portal, the criteria for application should be specified, with something like 'Proof of minimum income of X amount should be provided', this way the customer does not waste time applying and don't expose all his/her personal details such as salary, DOB, license, and passport numbers.

Overall, I find this process and service so poor and inefficient. Other banks are very clear on the requirements upfront.
