Title: Deceptive Parking Charges & Unprofessional Management – AVOID! Review: I recently stayed at Stamford Plaza Melbourne for a birthday celebration. While I would like to thank [Name Removed] for her warm welcome and the thoughtful birthday cake, the rest of my experience was severely tarnished by deceptive practices and an arrogant management team. The Issue: The hotel provided written instructions stating that parking "can be booked directly with the hotel upon Check-in." Relying on this, I arranged parking. The next morning, I called the front desk at 09:54 AM to cancel for the second night. The staff explicitly assured me the request would be "handled." At no point was a "non-refundable" policy disclosed. The Deception: Upon checkout, I was shocked to be charged $55.00 for the cancelled service. When I disputed this, Front Office Manager [Name Removed] and the Duty Manager were dismissive and arrogant. They claimed the car park is run by a third party and they have "no control" over refunds—directly contradicting their own written booking instructions. The Verdict: It is unacceptable for a 5-star establishment to provide conflicting information and then force guests to pay for their internal communication and training failures. Shifting the blame to an external provider is a clear evasion of responsibility.

A total lack of integrity from the management team. Extremely disappointed.

Please use good English speaking people – I rang today and had finished the conversation early and didn't continue with the booking, as the person was talking in a thick foreign accent which I couldn't understand. Ringing an 'upper class' Australian hotel, I would expect someone who can also speak decent English.

POOR is putting it nicely ! NEVER AGAIN !!! – Checked into the Stamford Grand Glenelg today with the family. Found out very quickly the pool facilities were out of order (would have been nice to know when we booked 7 days prior given the kids love the pool). Would NOT have booked if we were advised it was being renovated. Furthermore, they agreed we should have been told and offered to drive the kids 45mins sway in peak hour traffic away to their sister hotel in the CBD? I initially thought they were taking the pee double S. Sadly they were serious.

To add to this let down, unsuccessfully tried to order room service for the kids….4 different numbers later - no luck. Made my way to the front desk, asked why no one was answering the phones; they were almost offended and responded stating they were busy (on a Thursday afternoon no less). Odd that a major hotel in a popular precinct within Adelaide would be busy? The mind boggles!

Having then decided to try out the gym, whilst waking in the hallway towards the gym, was quickly consumed by a smell that would make the local tip smell like roses ! Immediately made my way to the exit.

In summary, save your hard earned money and go ANYWHERE ELSE but the Stamford Grand Glenelg.
