Great little workhorse for it size – I've had absolutely no issues with this chain saw whatsoever . It starts well each and every time, so I don't know why people have difficulty starting theirs. I keep mine serviced, mix the fuel precisely. Too rich and it won't start. I keep the chain sharp, most important. I got this smaller chain saw as my other chain saw , a Stihl Farm Boss… Read more

20" ( which is so reliable ) , is heavier and is sometimes hard on my back, depending on the job . The lighter MS 180 at just a bit over 4kg , is ideal for smaller jobs and is easier on my back when I use it at a safe working height, even after cutting a lot of wood. I have on occasion done some jobs that the ' Farm Boss' should be doing.

As always , the chain is easy to adjust . It was on special at the time so I got it at a good price, it came with tools, a manual & warranty , and a bonus carry case that was thrown in by the Stihl dealer, at no cost.

With the exception of the carry case and being heavier, the Sthil Farm Boss is just as reliable .

Garbage, save your money – I took my MS 180 C-BE into the dealer because it was getting very hard to start when warm and they informed me that the motor is shot. There is slop in the bearings and scoring/chips in the piston and cylinder. The saw has only been used to get firewood on camping trips and does not have many hours on it. I take excellent care of everything I own… Read more

and this saw was no exception. Only quality premium gas and Stihl oil were ever used in it. It should have lasted much longer than it did, as other reviewers have already noted these engines are absolute junk. Stihl would not do anything about it, they do not stand behind their products. Do not give companies like this your business. If you want a low quality saw that won't last, you can get one for much cheaper than Stihl is selling this piece of trash for. I bought a Stihl because I thought they were the gold standard in chainsaws and were built to last, not so. They may have been a good company at one time, but they sure aren't now. My replacement chainsaw will likely be a Husqvarna, I will never buy another Stihl product again.

Awesome for its size – Have had this chainsaw for about 8 years now and it's excellent. Use it for camping, 4wding, and home firewood. We have dropped some big trees with it as it has good power for the thickness of the chain so with properly sharpened chain it goes through red and yellow box like a hot knife through butter. I have the quick tension model and only… Read more

problem I have had is when I first bought it not lining up the teeth in the cogs before tightening it up and bending the cogs. Once shown the correct way to do it haven't had a problem since. Did need a service and one minor part replaced about 12 months ago when it started bogging down in cuts but all up only cost me 90 bucks to have repaired, that's after I'd put about 70 hours on it. Looks like a lot of the negative reviews on here are coming from people who may benefit from attending a chainsaw course learning how to properly start and use them or the few, who like with any product, may get a defect, I've never had a problem with getting Stihl to fix machines which are under warranty for any issues which aren't user caused

Usless Waranty – Bought new used Stihl oil and Hi octane gas as recommended, saw burned cylinder and piston 3mths into 2 year waranty and denied warranty. Bottom line if the warranty is'nt honorable then product is junk!
