Cheaply made over rated – Put ham cheese tomato in toastie maker brand new broke corner off top plate absolute garbage to claim warranty cost heaps in post
Great for our Big Family! – Went looking and the Sumbeam Big Fill Delivered! Perfect for our family of 4 for a quick lunch on the weekend and the bigger size means more filling for everyone. It heats up quickly and cooks fast. WE love that it has two spaces to lock down the lid so that when the sandwich is a bit fuller it doesnt squash and ooze out. Con is that the size of the bread matters. Smaller sized loafs do not seal around the edges properly. Show details · 1
Non stick surface peels – Just after the 1 year warranty finished, the non stick surface started coming off on the "slicing" parts which split each toast in half diagonally. I don't enjoy non stick coatings in my toasties, so we stopped using this machine. We had taken good care of the non stick surface, cleaning it gently only with a soft cloth, so it's poor that it started peeling after a short time, especially given we only used the toaster very occasionally. Awful product and customer service – As others have described, this machine does not heat up. It takes a very long time to actually toast the bread! As such we’ve not used it much as it takes too long but when I did use it I found that the non stick coating is peeling off. I don’t have the receipt but it’s not even been a year since I bought it and you can tell by the near new… Read more
condition of the machine that it’s not been used much.
Contacted sunbeam who first told me to look for bank statements to make the retailer follow up the problem and then subsequently said nothing they can do since I don’t have a receipt.
So clearly save your money for a product that does work and doesn’t fall apart so soon.

Piece of junk Sunbeam big fill toastie maker – Useless toastie maker. Has not cooked the toastie properly since day one. It simply does not "Toast" the bread properly. Very disappointed. Show details

Worst toastie machine ever! – Unfortunately hubby purchased this with excitement after our old toasting machine died. What a waste of money, soggy 'toasting and filling that spills absolutely everywhere. I suspected that moving away from a tried and tested product was a mistake and I was correct - do NOT waste your time, stick with the traditional jaffle maker if you want to remain happy with crispy non soggy toasties!! Better than Breville – I'd always used a different brand in the past, but some years back they switched to a non-stick coating that was so good it didn't stick to the metal any more. It would only last a month or two before I was eating it with my jaffles. I eventually came to my senses and decided to try something that didn't start with B and end with reville. I… Read more
switched to the Sunbeam and have been mostly pleased. It's designed for supermarket-size bread and deeper fillings. I use larger bakery bread and usually just cheese. But despite that, the jaffles are consitently delicious. The only design criticism I'd make is that the sealing edges are a lot wider than they need to be, which basically gives you a whole lot more crust (and the crust is definitely not the best part).
It's been a few years now, and apart from on the cutting edge (which doesn't cut, but that's okay) the non-stick coating has held up perfectly. I'm actually on the hunt for something that will suit me a little better - a bit wider, a bit shallower, and narrower sealing edges - but in the meantime the Sunbeam has served me well.
This is no Jaffle maker – Used multiples now and even after a second "toast" the jaffle is still soft and hard to pick up. Seriously poor engineering on this one. Trust me, try something else. Show details
EGG TOASTIES – I chose this model as I wanted a deep dish specifically to cook an egg. The division in the middle breaks the bread, and the egg goes everywhere but in the toastie. You end up with very little filling, a soggy middle and thick dry toast around the edges. Why oh why can't manufacturers bring back the old school deep dish model without that annoying divider. This one is being donated to the Op Shop. Show details
Writing from NZ, but same model!
Rubbish – It doesnt toast the bread, its soggy in the middle, it doesnt seal the toastie down the middle and ingredients all oozes out. This product is garbage, give me the old breville type anyday. Show details
Not a great buy – Does not toast your standard toasties of ham cheese tomato, have to turn them over and re toast. Have had this machine for two year’s using once or twice a month then this happened ☹️ Going in the bin tonight and will now look at other brands paid $60.00 Show details

Terrible product, does not toast! – I have been a loyal Sunbeam buyer for many years. This product, as most of the reviews state, does not toast at all! Bread is soggy and remains the colour of its origin. What is the point of Sunbeam apologising each time, why doesn't Sunbeam remove this product from the market alltogether? This is very disappointing! I bought mine online during… Read more
COVID lockdown in Melbourne and now can't return it. So much for toasties for lunch during remote schooling!

Misleading – I purchsed this toastie maker after carefully studying the box. It only toasts giant stuffed overfilled sandwiches. Will not toast a std size kids or ham, cheese, tomato. I then tried it a second time with loaded sandwich and the light went green. Opened the lid and untoasted but hot. Had to repeat this process 4 times to get lightly toasted. A total waste of money. Quick and easy to clean – I purchased this Toastie maker a while back and have not had any specific problems with it, however, i do agree that it does not cook the bread to the crispiness that i would like but i do like the machine itself, i have used it quite a few times and have enjoyed the results, i make my own meat pies and usually keep some of the left over pie filling to put inside the Toastie maker, always tastes good. And most important, it is so easy to clean Show details · 1
PERFECT - No mess, cuts, cleans easy, crispy cheese – 1. Effortlessly cuts your sandwitches in half 2. NO small areas for cheese to get stuck (this is by far the best feature!) 3. NO spillage. Using normal bread, there was plenty of room for cheese to squirt out and bake crisp, so no mess created. 4. True Non-Stick. First time at least, everything including baked cheese lifted off without effort. 5.… Read more · 1
Seems well built. I have no idea how someone broke theirs, must have been forcing incredibly hard.
My sandwitch isn't soggy, and I put LOADS of butter top and bottom of every piece.
I'm using cheap white bread with kraft singles style cheese - of course, the gold standard!
Whoever at Sunbeam designed this - well done!
Makes toasties...nothing special but that's why we bought it – When our previous super expensive toastie maker died, we decided to buy a practical unit. Just to be clear, the other unit died after the electrical cord was pinched and damaged beyond reasonable repair. The Sunbeam Big Fill Toastie is a no nonsense device that makes filled toastie with thicker bread and buns without any fuss. If there is a… Read more · 1
complaint, I tend to leave the device on for a while, even after the green light comes on. Positives; - deep dishes accommodate big fills....thus the name - the ready and warm up lights give enough guidance to get an acceptable outcome - the handle and clips work easily, Negatives; Nothing really. Maybe doesn't make the diagonal cut all the way through the sandwich. Then again, many I've used need a 'post cook cut (Makes me sound pretty professional....haha)
Terribly disappointed – Terrible product , should have read reviews here first but I trusted the sunbeam brand. Does not toast sandwiches they end up soggy no matter how long I let it preheat for. Show details

Great & easy to clean – This toastie is so easy to clean after use. I hated using my old one as the food would stick, but this one is easy to wipe clean. It toasts our sandwiches fine, but I find it doesn't cut the sandwiches very well across the diagonal like the old one did. I have to use a knife on the cutting board after cooking to cut. Very disappointed too – I totally agree with the review from "So bad I returned it". Exactly the same experience with this product. Did not cook and turn it into a toasted sandwich. Have had so many Sunbeam products over the years and this is the worse. Had toaster sandwich makers before. This definitely left the sandwiches soft n soggy. I also bought mine from Big W. Will take it back tomorrow and look for another brand. Show details

So bad I returned it – I'm really disappointed to say how bad this was. This machine doesn't 'toast' sandwiches, it steams them. I gave it a few good go's on the off chance it would somehow improve. Last straw was my steak and cheese sandwich that fell to soggy pieces as I tried to lift it out of the toastie maker. I returned it quick smart and was grateful for big… Read more
w's great return policy as I had thrown away the receipt. I like the brand...I have a toaster that is still going strong after 18 years so I know they can do better, but was surprisingly disappointed with this purchase.

Does not get hot enough. Leaves bread soggy – Had this a year or two and finally gave it to vinnies. Just didn’t get hot enough and seemed to shut itself off before sambo crispy. Bought breville normal size and I’m loving toasties again. Now adding words in an attempt to reach fifty. Forty six, forty eight, now fifty Show details
Great toasties, but seriously flawed design – We love this machine, it makes great sandwiches, but needs a re-design........It is the second unit we have owned & unfortunately, the plastic handles are not up to the rigors of compacting the sandwich. In both cases the handles have shattered when pressing down the sandwich, I suspect the plastic gets brittle with the heat of the element! It… Read more
is clear that the problem is deep-set, as we have been especially careful since the last handle broke, this unit has only lasted 4 months! - they really should use the same metal handle as they use in their Cafe press, it is metal!!!!!
A sad review, as we love all the other features & it always produces a great yummy sandwich!

OK when it works – Coming up to 12 months and have now had our second toastie maker fail! First one lasted six months then blew up in spectacular fashion with sparks and smoke. Was replaced under warranty and the second one broke several days before the anniversary of initial purchase with a failed clip on the handle which locks it closed. It makes fine toasties but… Read more

Doesn’t cook properly – I bought this maker 2 weeks ago. It heats fast, seals the edges BUT it doesn’t brown the bread, it’s like eating a soggy piece of toast, was so excited to get this at a good price, but now I’m disappointed with it. I will probably take it back for a refund. Show details

Great toasted sangers – Bought this 2 months ago after looking at Google reviews online. Was going for famous brand but reviews sent me to buy this one. Great apparatus, more fillings to enjoy, cuts sandwiches cleanly, fast heat up ans so easy to clean. Glad i did my homework and bought the BEST Show details · 2
Perfect everytime! – I was reluctant to buy this because of negative reviews, but wanted to get something different because I wasn't a fan of the last breville we had. This one is so much better. We just use normal Coles or woolies brand breads and it works perfectly everytime. The kids love it. We put in mainly just use it for ham and cheese, but have also put… Read more
tomatoes and egg sometime.
It's easy to clean by just waiting for it to dry, then wiping it down. The trick is to butter the bread on the sides that go on the machine so it doesn't stick. Very happy with the purchase.
Definitely worth it – I love this sandwich press! It works really well, the last sandwich press I had was tiny and spilled everywhere. The only downfall is that it only cuts down the middle properly about 50% of the time. Not really an issue though as it only takes 2 seconds to fix where it didn’t completely cut. I’d definitely recommend this one. Show details
Bread size not an issue – I purchased this with some trepidation and as a second best option. The trepidation came from reading some reviews which complained about not being able to find large enough sized bread slices that would work well. I think this fear was based on the visual of the elements which are quite large. I too was worried that if the slice was too small a… Read more
seal wouldn't be created and dreaded oozing would occur. However, to my delight my first attempt was with a gluten free loaf with relatively small slices was a total success. No leakage and perfect divisions into the four triangles. The second best option came about because I really wanted the Breville Classic 74 jaffle maker. It was advertised as the Rolls Royce of jaffle makers and anointed by Justine Schofield on her program. But I balked at the near $100 price tag. ( and also their claim that Australians refer to toasted sandwiches as Brevilles; I've been around for 58 years and I've yet to hear that phrase) When the not quite as pretty but mostly well reviewed Sunbeam option was on sale at Harvey Norman for $29. Best $70 I've saved in a long time. Mind you this is day one and I know that often problems crop up later on, but at this stage I would thoroughly recommend the Big Fill Toastie. Enjoy.
Just an October update- been using this regularly for a month and am still pleased with it. :-)
Bread size was not a problem – I purchased this product yesterday and used it for the first time today to make two sandwiches. It was good to have sandwiches which were "automatically" cut into two segments and the fillings did not fall out. Something I have not had for some years now, since when our last sandwich maker had died. I used Tip Top the One white bread and I did not… Read more
have any problems with the bread slices not being large enough, as some people have experienced. The bread browned well; I did follow the plate seasoning procedures prior to using and also buttered the bread on the outside surfaces, as in the instruction booklet. One disappointment though, was I could not fill the sandwich with as much filling as what I was led to believe from the advertising. I had a slice of ham, a slice of cheese and slices of tomato on the sandwich. When attempting to close the lid on the sandwich maker I realised I would have to place thinner slices of tomato on the sandwich. Time will tell how reliable this sandwich maker will be. It appears to be made quite solidly.
Just didn't live up to Sunbeam quality – It doesn't brown the bread no matter how long I left it to do the job. Filling ran out and made a mess. I usually like Sunbeam products... and my last Sunbeam Sandwich toaster was great. This modern product is really bad. Please Sunbeam take it off the market and design a better product. Show details
Not hot enough – We bought one of these - works OK but not hot enough to brown the bread. It's 1000 watts. No matter we left the sandwich in the Toastie, it would not brown the bread - NOT HOT ENOUGH. After multiple attempts, we stopped using it. Now we will buy the Sunbeam cafe press sandwichmaker - it's up to 2400 watts. Maybe lucky this time. Show details
Very good quality - good price – Recently needed to update my old breville toaster so looked around for similar product at a reasonable price. The Sunbeam Big Fill Toastie ticked all the boxes, the quality of the non stick surface is superior to others in the same price range (under $40 @ Big W) It heats up fast, is easy to clean and compact enough for a smaller kitchen. finished toastie does have a wider seal than my old machine did but it holds a lot of filling. My favourite toastie? Banana, honey and peanut butter finished with cinnamon sugar yum!
Looked ok but broke within 8 weeks – Usually I only write positive reviews but this item was a shocker. It worked OK and just OK for approximately 8 weeks then with no warning the bottom handle completely snapped off, leaving a sharp edge on the broken piece and the main part of the machine. Maybe it was just a bad one but never will I again look at one of these. I purchased it… Read more
