Help!! – My EM0180 is about 6 months old has worked perfectly until this morning, now the mix (centre) light flashes at each attempt to heat and froth milk and nothing happens. Any thoughts as to what the problem is?

Too much froth – Purchased this to replace a frother I had for about 7 years which worked great. Pity I can't say the same about this one. Have tried putting in milk from minimum to maximum levels and everything in between and find that with the froth setting it froths the milk way too much and ends up like fairy floss which is useless for making a latte. No power… Read more

on/off button also painful and as many others have said really hard to see the measuring lines on the inside of the black jug. Will be taking it back and look for an alternative frother

Love it – At first I wasn't keen on paying $90 for a frother but I can see why it's the price it is. Much better than the one we had. Love how you can add hot choc powder into the frother to mix in together. This is a pic of my mocha. Show details ·  1

7 years and still going – I got this from a friend in 2013 while she was moving house and no longer needed it (i.e. wasn't even brand new when I got it). Never skipped a beat for the past 7 years. I may have been lucky but I think some people don't wash their jug unit straight after use and it could be causing that burning issue? I either detach the frothing disk and… Read more ·  2

clean straight away with a soft part of sponge or at least rinse with water then put clean water inside till I wash it.

Coating is wearing off in the jug after 7 years though and I might need to call Sunbeam to buy a replacement jug. I'd highly recommend it, good work Sunbeam for quality product!

***EDIT*** I looked at my jug just before calling Sunbeam and actually there is no damage on the coating; it looks like it was just the water stain??? 7 years and the jug is still good too. Also although I'm really happy with it a few reviews complain of the device stopping to work. I might have been just lucky so make sure you do a search beforehand.

Safe to use compared with other types – Had plenty of milk frothers, from the ones built on home coffee machines to the stand alone types. The safety aspect is that your not pressurising water to froth milk as in some stand alone 1990's types with venturi mixer milk frothing attachments , plus you wont develop milk scale like on the steam arms of machines. The unit uses an magnetic… Read more

driven aerator spindle which spins and heats milk at the same time at low speed (lower rpm) compared to the cold mixer settings which operate much faster. Its relatively kid safe given the machine wont activate without the cup base fitted.

Its works well for the hot milk frothing, but I found it over aerates and increases the milk volume too much which ;leaves little liquid for filling your ciup. If you let it stand for a while after it will deflate to a consistency you need but each cycle is at least 5 miniutes with a cool down cycle in between. Removal of the agitator heads is a bit awkward and you feel like you might break them, perhaps SB could have provided a fork designed removal tool attachment to balance the forces on the discs rather than putting all force on one side to remove it.

If you want to speed the cycles up, simply add cool tap water to the cup after use and restand it docked in the unit to remove the base heat faster.

I find this excellent for senior citizens, they can combiine a pod coffee machine and this device to remove the ambiguity of owning/using a more complex machine, As a gift idea, not bad either. Its a bit pricy for what it is, I thought $50 might be about right but they go for around $70 on average.

Its not a crowd solving device, rather limited to small serves over time. Its clever but overpriced in my opinion.

An appliance the whole family will love! – I just love this little appliance! Purchased a few weeks ago to replace a milk frother that stopped heating the milk (Aldi), this not only lives up to my expectations of such an appliance, it far surpasses them! It creates thick, delicious froth from whole or light milk for my husband's coffee, and using a different button, it heats milk for the… Read more

kids' (and my!) hot chocolate - it can also put a nice froth onto those hot chocolates, if preferred. Even better, this machine also mixes in the chocolate powder as it heats the milk. Making a drink is so simple and easy: just pour in the milk, add a sachet of drinking chocolate, put the lid on and push the middle button. The milk goes into a jug (which holds enough milk for a mug-full) and this jug sits on a neat and attactive separate base. On the base, there is also a third button for mixing iced coffee. I particularly love that the jug is so very simple to clean; the non-stick coating ensures that nothing sticks to the inside of the jug, and drinks pour out easily - I keep a small silicone spatula handy to scrape out all the froth each time, for maximum drink enjoyment! There is a little disc to pop into the bottom of the jug for frothing, and another for mixing (both of which store underneath the appliance magnetically), but I have found great success by using the frothing disc for both the milk to top coffees and our hot chocolate drinks. These discs are easy to interchange (the first few times, they were a little difficult to remove, but that might have been my technique) and very easy to clean. The temperature of the hot chocolates is just right, so with one of these machines in the kitchen, families will enjoy the cosy benefits of winter, and the frothing ability will suit coffee lovers year-round! It makes wonderful drinks and froth. A four minute interval is necessary between making each drink, so making cups for an average family of four takes a while.

Not heating fix – Hi all My frother is about 3.5 year old and started to take along time to heat up and not really heating properly, so read through the reviews. Short answer to fix. Get some scotch bright and clean the bottom of the jug and the heating pad. Works perfectly now... Show reply

Handy and practical! – We were looking for a quick and easy milk frother and this little appliance came in our help. Very easy to use and fairly quick. It doesn't take much space and it's very handy when it comes to make easy drink. We use to mix cocoa powder or matcha tea and can be used for cold or hot drinks. Also easy to clean. We use on daily basis from quite a long time and it seems the quality of the product is consistent. Show details

Can be noisy but froths perfectly – I bought this to replace my cheaper milk frother that met a watery end. So far it’s been really good! Unlike its predecessor it has a handle that allows those like myself whose hands can’t hold the cylindrical variety to pour and clean without the risk of dropping (how it’s predecessor met it’s end). It came with two attachments, frothing and… Read more

mixing. The frothing attachment works fine, the mixer however can make a strange squealing noise (not every time) when used. It doesn’t seem to effect the end result though. Unlike its cheaper predecessor I have never had to remove burnt milk from the jug as I believe it has a thermostat that prevents this from happening making cleaning quick and easy. Overall I’m really happy with this product.

Button stopped working after 12mths – Similar feedback to others: - Takes a while to heat milk - Foams milk rather than froth - Middle button has stopped working on the device after 12mths of use - Measuring markers difficult to see and under the handle which is inconvenient

Had two and both broke down – I’ve had two of these and looked after them well. Both just stopped working. Reason unknown. Bought them because of good capacity and reasonable price but would not buy another.

Worked really well until it stopped. 10 months old – Did job really well until it died. Lights up and sometimes spins but never froths. Christmas present lasted 10 months. Would not recommend as a gift unless you intend to give the receipt as well, and who does that? Show details

5 years and still working perfectly – We purchased this milk frother about 5 years ago. We use it about 6 times a week on average. We usually only make two coffees so it is just turned on the once at each use. Give it a rinse straight after use and you want have any problems. It does need to be cleaned properly after each use. Ours has never been particularly noisy, it just makes a bit of a hum while it is running. We highly recommend this product.

Going in the Bin! – Takes over 5 minutes to warm milk. Provides at least a small amount of foam. Foam and texture is okay at best. We suffered through this for a while but will be replacing it. Was significantly worse than a base model Nespresso Foamer from 5 years ago. Show details

It 'foams' not 'froths' – There is so much to love about this milk frother, ie holds enough milk for 2 cups, heats good, so easy to clean, love the handle and pouring spout (especially for the older generation) and the coating is good quality however, it does not froth milk it foams it. We have even started adding some cream to the milk which gives it a better, thicker… Read more

consistency and the only other real negative is the milk gauge marker is so hard to see and it's placed under the handle. This really has the potential to be the 'ideal' milk frother for your morning coffee but it is sadly lacking and therefore would not recommend and I would not buy another (but according to other reviews it doesn't have a very long lasting lifespan anyway). So come on Sunbeam the market is really lacking in a reasonably priced decent frother with an easy to read gauge marker and froths your milk for 2 cups

Sub standard milk frother – Bought this one to replace the Aldi frother as it was hard to clean. It takes forever to heat the milk up, and because it is hard to see the max line you might put in too much milk and it just eventually spews over and ends up burning on the base. Occasionally it makes a weird high pitched noise. The only two things I like about it is that it is easy to clean and it will froth milk well if you are prepared to wait over 5 minutes. Show details

disappointed – Absolutely loved using my milk frother, I use it every morning to make my turmeric lattes. I have had it for well over 12 months now but I have had to replace the frothing tool as it did not froth any more. Caught fire – On Sunday 6th September 2020 I bought this and I went to use it on Friday 29th January 2021 by adding milk to the max line and the machine has started smoking everywhere from the inside of the base. I would avoid using this because it is extremely dangerous because I almost got myself electrocuted so I am definitely lucky to be alive. Show details

Won’t be buying sunbeam again – Not even an average product, don’t bother buying one. Barely heats and froths milk, and takes 5+ to cool down. I’ve been waiting for 15 mins now for it to cool down so I can froth another cup of milk. Very frustrating.

My old one was amazing - new one not – I brought my first cafe creamy forever ago and it finally gave up. I loved it so brought a new one to replace it. This one is not good.
