What a waste – Talk about planned obsolescence! Extremely common failure of a part and they just stop producing that part so you have to buy a new blender. What a waste! Definitely won't be a Sunbeam.

Leak in bottom of jar – My blenders jar bottom started leaking black liquid. The actual motor is working good. What’s the problem and is there any video of how to open it. And also can we have a proper links to the pets to be ordered or service place to get it fixed. Show details

fantastic blender – I just have to write a review about this blender. I have never written a review before. I have had this blender almost three years and use it every day for all sorts of smoothies ingredients like kale/pepitas/citrus fruit/oats/almonds/dried herbs/dried fruit and many other easier ingredients to blend such as soft fruits I have been blending foods… Read more ·  1

for 30 years and it is by far the best blender I have used. only problem is sometimes I overload it past the 2 litre mark with some tough ingredients and it will struggle which I guess would be expected but I just stop blending for a minute and try again and it still makes a very smooth smoothie. I never have the leaking problem many other people mention I may be lucky or smart I never use the pulse button on this blender or any other blender I just start it slow and just slowly increase speed pulse buttons are good on a food processor as you are mostly pulsing loose ingredients but in a blender it maybe thick/wet/heavy ingredients. Maybe more expensive blenders e.g vitamix or a optimum are built to withstand pulsing but I would never never pay 900plus dollars for a home blender maybe 500 dollars for an optimum. The sunbeam is a250 dollar blender approx. it does such an amazing job if there are no leaks and I have no problem at all. I also never use all preprogramed buttons as like the pulse button it creates huge strain on motor and gearing imagine a car going from stop to full power in an instant under heavy load. The only food that I can never blend in this blender or any other blender is dried organic Australian apricots they just bounce around unless I soak them for a few hours if anyone knows a blender that can blend them let me know. Thanks

Loved it... until it stopped working! – I've had this blender for 2 years. I swore it whipped up the most delicious, and creamy smoothies and juices. When purchased, I was thoroughly impressed with it's performance. After two years, I tried to make a smoothie today and was confused when the lights were flashing, and the jug was tipsy and not lining up properly with the motor.… Read more

After grabbing my Cafe Series manual, I was disappointed to find that no information was included on how to fix the blender in common scenarios.

I did recognize that maybe the blade/nut/and securing bolt were not lined up properly, after fiddling around for 10-15 minutes, I still could not figure out the problem. But, GOOD NEWS! After playing around a bit more, I realized that the nut which is secured by a screw sort of thing, wasn't tightened properly. I held the nut and screwed the thing a little bit more. Voila! Perfect. Works again. Thank goodness... I was getting 'hangry' for my smoothie! :)

Would definitely recommend this blender, though. Has been a great little thing.

Disappointed and feeling ripped off! – I purchased the sunbeam cafe series blender on Boxing Day at the sunbeam outlet store. I am currently in the midst of cancer treatment, and thought a blender that could create nutritious easily digestible smoothies would be a good purchase with my Christmas money. Admittedly I hadn't shopped around, and was only here since I needed to exchange a… Read more

gift for my son that had been purchased at the same complex. Wish I hadn't!

I mentioned to the salesperson that I would love one of the planetary bench mixers, to which he offered a 15% discount and wanted to give me a demo- I explained briefly that I wasn't feeling well, perhaps some other time, and a blender would be it today. my gripes are:

1. The products are all seconds and/or reworks- it would have been nice to have been told this.

2. The shelf price was more expensive than any other price I have found advertised (regular or on sale) of first quality units. Even the discounted price was $15 more expensive than D.J's regular price and $70 more expensive than myer' sale price.

3. And most importantly...a strong burning smell is emitted when it runs, and small pool of dark liquid was underneath the unit. I am not confident this will last for very long at all.

In the greater scheme of things at the moment, this is not a major concern, but i would merely like to avoid others making the same mistake. If there is any positive here, it is that it had definitely made up my mind on what brand I would not buy, when the time comes to buy a bench top mixer.

A really efficient blender used it for 5 years but nothing lasts forever. We will buy a new one – It blends smoothies really well. Powerful motor. Good size jug. Did start leaking brown goo from motor but as its 5 years old...no worries. We have l9ved this blender to death and more. Show details

Love it! – I had the previous model which unfortunately had a plastic connection where the jug connects to the blender, of course it ground itself down and the blender could not turn the blade. This model has been discontinued. Thankfully. Now I have the latest and it’s great. The connections are metal and much stronger wearing. I expect this machine will… Read more ·  1

PB9800 Cafe Series II Blender – I'm really happy with this blender. I had its precursor so bought the new model and was pleased to find it has a number of automatic settings. I use the smoothie setting every day and it makes really creamy smoothies. The plastic jug is generous and strong but also very light to handle. I rate it a big improvement over the old model, which I already liked. I'd highly recommend it to any purchaser and it arrived sooner than anticipated.  Show details ·  1

Would not recommend – As has been reported by many other reviews of this blender, the jug starts to leak from the base to the point it is no longer able to be used. Considering the price, I really expected better. Replacement parts are expensive too! Needless to say, I am looking for a new blender of a different brand. Would not recommend anyone buy this blender. Very poor. Show details

First one just stopped, warranty replacement leaks brown good as detailed in other reviews – I did comment on another review here, Sunbeam immediately replied which was great - however there has been no follow up to my question of where to go from here. I'll follow the link detailed above for a new jug, but I would recommend not purchasing this product, it's environmentally irresponsible that the quality is so poor. Show details

Good for a while but then leaks – Blended fine. But between 1-2 years later it leaks brown stuff under the jug every time and has a burning smell. No warranty for this which is disappointing, and I asked how much for just the jug but got no reply. My Breville lasted over 6 years. I’ll go back to Breville and stick with them! Show details

Sort of worked until it didn't – If this was a sub $100 blender I'd rate the smoothie making performance adequate. As it stands and given the expectations raised by the Cafe moniker, the performance isn't good enough. It simply doesn't reduce greens enough nor does it pulverise berry seeds. We used this machine almost 5 days a week to make one smoothie. After 9 months we… Read more

noticed a small leak and some rust stains on the counter top. A week ago I examined it and found the blade was moving side to side. The bushing it runs in had self destructed. A quick Google showed it's a common problem. Actually we should have known better. This blender replaced a Sunbeam that replaced a Sunbeam that also replaced, you guessed right, a Sunbeam. This leads me to believe either Sunbeam doesn't know how to design and manufacture quality products or they don't care.

Warranty expired just prior to the breakdown – The blender had been functioning ok until about 2 weeks ago - usual uses included smoothies, soups from cooked veggies, salsas. Then the noise became louder and liquids started to trickle out of the base. Leakage became progressively more until today when liquid poured out from be base while blending a mylk (no solids) Show details

Doesn’t perform or blend like a NutriBullet Ninja – Sorry Sunbeam-normally love your product but this is a dud. Read reviews that said it was great so when I needed to replace my blender that I used to use every day thought I’d do what I thought would be an upgrade. Blades have failed. Again – Was pretty happy with this blender for some time before it started leaking out of the bottom. Had to pay to replace the blades and everything was good again. Now, roughly ~12 months later, it's leaking *again*. Have to make the decision whether to keep replacing the blades at ~$70 every year or just throw it out and buy something else. Update: they don't even have the replacement blades available until "next month". Show details

Have to replace stainless steel blade assembly due to rusting – We bought this blender paying more than other brands to find that less than a year old it started leaking brown liquid into the bowl. I was told we had to replace the blade assembly. It's unacceptable that a stainless steel part rusts less than a year old requiring us to spend more money. I would not recommend this brand. I wrote to the Sunbeam Head Office months ago and received no response. Disappointing product and customer service. Show details

Worked well for a short time – It did a great job blending smoothies initially, however when it was only about 2 years old it started oozing rusty liquid into the base of the jug, then made terrible noises and disintegrated at the base. Used nearly incessantly for three years - still excellent! – I’m astonished at some of the reviews this product is receiving. For me it has worked perfectly for the last three years and continues to do so. I even bought another and took it to Europe (in my luggage!) so my mother could have one too! We use it up to four times a day, sometimes even giving the jug an extra cleaning in the dishwasher with no problems.  Show details ·  1

Last one year then not worth fixing – Blender base seal leaks food into the bearing and rusts it out within 3 months. It's not designed to be repaired, It's designed to be replaced but costs more than it's worth. The motor has brushes which are also not designed to be replaced. We got this model as a replacement under warranty after 4 previous failures. The staff are helpfull but they do nothing to change the design so the same faults happen again and again.  Show details

Great product will use it frequently – This blender makes easy work of blending dry ingredients finely if that's what is required. Excellent for smoothies and making vegan recipes. Easy to use, with some conditions – The machine blends really well, feels like a lawn mower with its blades. Just make sure you screw the bottom on correctly, because it has leaked sometimes. Cleaning it is easy too, I prefer doing it straight after blending that way it doesn't stick.  Show details

A great blender that didn't last very long – I purchased this blender at the start of 2017 and I was quite happy with it as I was mainly using it for basic things such as smoothies, soups, drinks etc. Unfortunately, the seal at the bottom of the blender (below the blades) has broken and now leaks everywhere so it's basically unusable. However, we did use it with ice and hot liquids before it broke and it did a great job.  Show details

Essential for the Bracket under a Vitamix – If you're not wanting to fork out for the Spendier vitamix, the motor in the Cafe series has worked with everything I've thrown at it, ice, frozen mango, grain, etc. Only issue is that around six months in, the rotor bearings rusted out and the rotor made an awful grinding noise on start up.
