great compact oven, built NOT to last – have had 3 and a bit years use out of our oven until a few day ago. like preview reviews, I gave the insides a clean while unplugged, but straight after plugging it back in it now trips the earth leakage breaker within a minute of it being turned back on. I used a damp sponge with an all purpose cleaner, no excess water, no idea why it's now… Read more

shorting out. On further inspection after reading other reviews, the top heater bar elements are both warped and no doubt causing the short. Seems to be coincidence that I just happened to be cleaning it. Contacted Sunbeam, as unit is discontinued, so too are spare parts, so as the title to my review says, this oven was never meant to last. I would have been happy if I could still buy the spare parts for it, but pretty disappointing they are no longer available

Rubbish – In attempting to make toast, and correctly following the directions to place the shelf in the centre slot and the sunken position, setting the heat control to the highest temperature, and selecting halfway between light and dark, the top is burnt at the back and underdone at the front, and the underside is untoasted apart from a couple of spots,… Read more

again to the rear, that are just slightly coloured.

I bought it in the latter half of last year, 2018, I selected August, as the system insists on having a date, but I am not entirely certain which month I bought it as the receipt has been mislaid. It has not been damaged in any way, and it has only had a small amount of use, but it was this bad right from the start.

Everything that I have used it for, on various settings, has burnt at the back and been underdone at the front. It is going out with the rest of the garbage. The photos show the result of toasting a fresh slice of fruit bread on the lightest setting, showing the top overdone, and the bottom just starting to take on colour. It was so slow, that the bread had dried out inside, too.

As for grilling, when the rack, in the sunken position, is placed in the top slot, with the drip tray and pan on it, it almost touches the cover of the top elements, making it impossible to put any food thicker than a slice of bacon on it for grilling. Sausages, even thin BBQ sausages, or items such as shaslicks are too thick, and it jams when trying to slide them in under the top elements. It would be impossible to produce a grilled meal of steak, tomatoes, mushrooms, sausages, and the like, as none of these would fit under the top element. The design of this oven is abysmal.

It also needs a spring on the door to stop it dropping open hard onto the bench with the risk of the glass breaking when the door is opened.

Buy this with a timeline in mind – Ok, this fantastic machine will save you a lot of money. The reason being that it will heat up faster than your conventional oven and use less energy to do it. If you roast foods in it, the sidewalls will blacken out and forget cleaning them, its too hard. Regardless of that, the unit is still good. As far as pizza's go, the peforated circular… Read more

plate that comes with with the oven is an issue for sticking, thats due to the material they made it out of. However , I have had one of these for 5 years and only replaced it due to wear. At less than $120 dollars , who cares.

The things that are going for this little oven is that they use infra red solid core elements, Not the infra ray glass tubes which shatter easily and cant be handled very well.

Why waste your money heating up foods for lunches with kids in your conventional oven when this one will save time and expense.

You must be prepared to buy another in years to come, They are not foverever.

So far i have bought two for $100 on specials. Even bought one before the other failed when it was cheap.

And yet with all the power you will save

Who cares about that...

Excellent...with reservations. I have a lot to say about this little $100 beaut – I am now on my third one of these, over the years. The first one simply got grubby, after being used at least once per day for over 2 years. The second I had to have replaced, as when I was cleaning it I sprayed it with cleaner spray and the stuff got into the electrics (reservation 1). I reckon this would not have mattered as the heat from the… Read more

oven would soon have dried it out, but it made the RCD trip every time I turned on the oven, so it never had a chance. Reservation 2 is that, as with any electric oven grill I have tried, it is pretty much useless. If you place something right up under the top grill, the cooking is very uneven due to the widely spaced heat bars. Any further down and you get no grill, just a cook. BUT... I am a guy that likes to get the ridged griddle smoking hot then sear. Reservation 3 is that at this price, there may be QC issues. There have been complaints of inaccurate heat control and although I have not had that trouble, I would believe it could happen and would call that a warranty replacement issue if it was way out.

Other than that, this is a magnificent oven. I use it every day still, at least once, for roasts (slow roasting and crisping), baking fish, cooking sausages finishing off spanish omelettes. It is far faster to heat than a wall oven and is large enough to take quite a family meal. The different heat patterns allow different cooking methods, which I find very versatile. It can also allow cooking food more evenly if, for instance, you have a large chook etc and need to place it lower in the oven. Then I would use Pizza-Toast, to crisp the chook without overheating it from below.

I do not know any oven that you do not have to learn to work with and I have cooked in a $3500 oven. The limitations of room and closeness of the heat bars to the food are just something you need to learn to work with, and they can actually be very useful, in a way that a larger oven can not, if used with thought for this as a versatile tool.

So given that this is about $100 and meant to be a small economical oven, I rate it excellent for what it is. I simply would not use a wall oven every day as I do this little gem. Because of this I have learned many new ways to use an oven and my diet is better for it.

Excellent Value – I had a much more expensive bench top oven from a leading brand and it stopped cooking effectively not long after the warranty ended. Needing a replacement immediately gave fewer options and I settled on this as a compromise as it was inexpensive and large enough. Having had the appliance for almost a month now I am really impressed. It is… Read more ·  1

efficient, easy to use - the temperature settings did take a little time to get used to - and the food is cooked evenly and completely. I mainly use this for baking but the other functions are handy - pizza and also grill. Given that it was just over $90 I am extremely pleased. It is working as efficiently as the one I replaced which cost 3 times as much. Definitely have no hesitation in recommending this highly. Well done, Sunbeam and Good Guys.

Great oven, small caveat (though arguably, proper use and youd be fine) – Used the previous model of this from 6 years ago (that's also how long it lasted) and this newer model I notice has a chrome/metallic covering on the heat bars, which I assume protects them more. Old ones heat bars warped out of shape, touching the roof of the oven in its last month. On grill with tray, like the older one in its first months,… Read more ·  1

lid must be open or food burns within precious minutes- heat sensor seems to be at the bottom and keeps heating even though temperature has been reached 40 degrees ago (tested with oven thermometer-bread at 90 degrees will burn in under 4 minutes excluding preheating).

Other than that slight issue, it's worked fine so far, heats food evenly, lid is light, removable tray at bottom makes oven easier to clean.

Very good compact mini oven – This little oven really surprised me because it has no fan. My last one did and cooked really well. I have had the Sunbeam oven for 2 months now and I have to say it is better than my old one with the fan. Very surprised. I use the bake function all the time when I'm cooking food and I quite often have toasted cheese sandwiches. The grill… Read more ·  1

function is super quick. Over all this oven has been fantastic and is fairly quick in all the cooking I have done in it. I paid just under $100 so very much value for money. Even if it only lasts me a year or two I'm really happy and I would buy another one. So far so good.

Would not recommend! – Have owned 2 of these over 4 years. And each time the heating elements at the top has warped and causes the whole thing to short circuit. I stupidly thought I'd give them a second chance, but regrets aplenty. Before completely dying on us the unit began to take longer to do basic functions like toasting bread would take 10 minutes. Show details

Fantastic oven....it replaces my wall oven – I just thought I would put in my cents worth. I think I may have written a review a while back but I am now updating. Trips safety switch constantly – I have bought Sunbeam products for most of my life and so did my Mum but I will think twice before doing that again. Doesn't toast properly – We go through one every one to three years. But the latest one we have has these metal bars on the bottom elements as pictured, so only the top of the toast gets toasted and we have to turn the toast the around to toast the other side. We tried both the toast and bake settings to no avail. Please help! If the toasting issue is resolved, I would give a 5 star. Generally its a great product.

Handy little Oven – This oven is handy to use when your just cooking a small amount. It cooks a pizza well at a high temperature. You can use the top, bottom or both elements. Great for grilling, has a variety of settings which are a little hard to read but when you get used to them its simple to use. Lightweight and easily moved about. Compact, heats up fast and simple to use – Bought one of these earlier in 2016, however after a while the top heating elements began to warp and buckle due to oil / food debris splashing up during the cooking process. (version 2 of the original product), as it now has stainless steel guards that surround the heating elements which now protects them from debris / oils that might otherwise land on the elements.

It's a good oven for the price; it starts up and heats up quickly to the target temperature, and seems to outperform my built in oven when it comes to cooking smaller dishes or single meals.

Good value – I bought this oven for my parents which replaced their old oven. Good value for money when compared to other brands of similar size. Simple and easy to use.
