Not so bad for short time use – I bought this for my grandfather for his birthday. He was satisfied as he told me that. But sure it's noisy. I use it sometimes and get this noise but it is manageable, you get use to it after sometime. I found it serves its purpose and good for short term use.  Show details

Excellent product with fantastic price – This is a quiet fan, price is friendly for this multifunctional fan. Also, the wireless remote is very handy. The wind always nice and cool. I bought for almost a year and no issues happened which need to be repair. Moreover, this fan is tall and thin which save a lot of spaces.  Show details

Best used with the hearing aids turned off – According to my wife, this was the answer to the overheating problem we have (despite a barrage of pedestal fans). She could tell it was good value because she paid NZ$200 for it. Assembling it was a bit of a handful because of its size, but the only real problem was the wire that wouldn't fit into the channel in the base provided for that… Read more

purpose. Luckily, that doesn't seem to have affected its stability.

It looks good and works well.

It also makes a noise very similar to but not quite as loud as a vacuum cleaner.

I could stand it for about 10 minutes, after that I turned off my hearing aids, gave up all thought of watching television and found a book to read.

I'm hoping it will break down before long so that I have an excuse to return it to the shop. On the other hand, my wife doesn't like the noise either, so she has gone back to using the pedestal fans.

Looks good but noisy whining fan – This fan is slim, neatly designed but lacks finesse or just plain old fashioned engineering. It sounded quiet enough in busy shop and adjacent to a busy road. In the lounge away from any other noises the fan has a pitch to it that is very irritating. I would not have bought it if realised it was like this and would not buy another or recommend… Read more

it.

I see others here have some issues, but we must represent a very small % of people who purchased same (well assume that).

The 'Nature' setting is a bit of a gimic IMO. It's supposedly emulates natural breeze.

But having tried that I prefer to regulate speed depending on the need. But that noise!!!

Having said all that it does deliver a nice draft of air and is refreshing.

Probably useful in a distant location to move the air about, but not in immediate vicinity if you want peace and quiet.

So far so good – I bought 2 of these last week, mainly for bedrooms at night. I find they give a strong breeze, low setting is enough usually. They have a slight noise (sounded pretty silent int the shop), but we can still sleep ok. no rattling experienced yet! If it starts I'll take them back. Not sure why they're called Retro, they look pretty modern to me. Great having the remote when you are in bed.  Show reply

This is NOT A FAN – This is a noise generating machine masquerading as a fan! Pathetic and I am disgusted that I had to pay a $25 restocking fee to return it. This product is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE. Sunbeam should be taken to task over it, I cannot believe it even made it into their product range.

Do NOT purchase! – If only I had visited this page first... We bought 2 FA7200 fans and like everybody else within days of usage a horrible rattling noise has started up with both fans. I should have guessed given the fan wasn't actually turned on while on display in the shops, with the much more expensive fans running. In hindsight this is clearly because after… Read more

running for more than a few hours it'd be ruined. The first few minutes... Horrible rattling, even louder when on oscillation

It's terrible – The first one we bought we pulled it out of the box and put it together and as soon as we plugged it in and turned it on it sounded as though it was going to take off! A terrible rattling noise. Thinking it was faulty we returned it to the store and swapped it for a new one. This one has lasted 1 week of use (in hot weather) and it too has a… Read more

terrible rattling noise.

It's so loud and it wobbles. Cheap product that we paid $130 for. Terrible sunbeam.

Noisy and wobbly

Don't buy – Like other customers who bought this fan we are very disappointed. Our fan died 1 month after the 2 year warranty expired and is not repairable. i am very annoyed to say that it will join 2 of our other recently purchased sunbeam products at the landfill site. Why do they make such large and expensive products that cannot be repaired? Having said… Read more

all this, we were quite happy with it while it worked, timer feature and 3 air control settings were very handy but I would buy another brand, forget sunbeam products! Died just after 2 years, isn't repairable, expensive

Do not waste your time or money with this or any Sunbeam product! – Have had this fan for 3 years total after having it replaced within the 2 year warranty after the first one was very noisy. The second unit we dragged out to use now with the hot weather and it now will not work correctly, with lights flashing indicating a fault of some type. You would think that a product that is only used seasonally would last… Read more

longer than this. My experience with Sunbeam Customer service over other items is woe full and could not give a hoot about there customers only their shareholders, and will hide behind their warranty, when in fact their products under Australian Consumer Law are not of fit and merchantable quality for which they are sold. The quality of the chinese made products that you buy at Aldi are just as good if not better and are far cheaper than this rubbish that Sunbeam is trying to push.

I hope the Sunbeam representatives are reading this and take note. Sunbeam products are far from cheap, and especially when the quality is so poor. Now if you will excuse me, i am going to now take to this fan with a sledgehammer and send it to landfill where most Sunbeam products belong. Looks stylish. Expensive, unreliable, Lousy Customer Service.

Died an early death – Bought it earlier this year, and I always thought it was very noisy, but didn't expect a Sunbeam product to die after about 6 months, and 3 of those months werent in use. Also the strenght of the air flow wasn't very strong even on the highest speed. Very disappointed in Sunbeam, bought a reputable brand and they let me down. Slimline Noisy, air flow not very strong .

Bad – I bought 2 of these fans on sale (one for the living room and one for the bedroom). The first one died after 3 months, and now the second one has died after 18 months. Thankfully they come with a 2 year replacement warranty, although it concerns me that they both only lasted such a short time. I bought Sunbeam (and paid quite a bit for them)… Read more

because of their reputation for quality, now I am concerned that the replacement fans will also suffer a short life span. Looks great, stainless steel build quality, reasonably quiet Reliability issues, does not really blow much air around
