Lasted 5 months – Purchased for $110 from Myer Southland on 29 March, 2021. Stopped working on 4 September 2021. Didn’t last long. Myer do not have any Queen Sleep Express in stock. How do I get a refund? Stores closed because of lockdown in Melbourne. Do I have to buy another electric blanket online from Myer and get a refund when lockdown is over? Think I will… Read more

give Sunbeam electric blankets a miss. Just poor quality from China. Why aren’t we manufacturing small appliances in Australia?

Died after 20 uses – Purchased June 2016. Yes it is out of the 3 year warranty period. Used around 20 times. one side stopped working last year, the other side this year. I am amazed that such a simple electrical product fails after such little use. Given the number of similar complaints about malfunctioning electric blankets, you'd have to believe that there is an… Read more

incredible failure rate and that Sunbeam have real issues in manufacturing a lasting product consistently. I would love to know of a reliable brand as a replacement.

Love it! – It heats up quick and feel nice to sleep with the warmness. You can adjust 3 levels of the heat. Easy to hing it and fold it in the sun.  Show details ·  1

Adequate, but heating area too small – I'm reviewing the queen size Sleep Express with three heat settings. On the highest setting (3) the blanket heats up in about 10 minutes and if you leave it on that setting for half-an-hour you'll have a very hot bed. It's fitted, so there's no fiddling around with annoying ties. In terms of reliability, I've had this for three-and-a-half years… Read more ·  1

and haven't had any problems with it so far, a big contrast to the Sunbeam Sleep Perfect which I owned previously. The controllers on that model failed after several years. The replacement controllers failed after another year or so, and then the replacement for the replacement also failed after another year. Avoid the Sleep Perfect: it costs 50% more than the Sleep Express and is a DUD.

In terms of features, since this is the budget model you miss out on more heat settings and any sort of timer. Heat setting 1 seems entirely useless to me as it barely heats up the bed at all. Because of this, there are effectively only two heat levels: 2 which gives a good medium level of heat, close to body temperature, and 3 which is full power. Because there's no timer, if you accidentally leave the blanket on, it will stay on forever.

My biggest complaint is that the heat pad (the area covered by the heating elements) is too small. A queen size bed is 203cm long (head to foot), but the heat pad on this model is only 123cm long, which leaves 80cm not covered by heating elements. Half of that is under the pillow, but that still leaves 40cm unheated: 20cm at the feet and 20cm at the shoulders. That's the part you'll feel when you get into bed - from your scapula downwards will be warm, but your shoulders and upper back will be cold! Why, Sunbeam?

Great to get into a nice warm bed – I like the idea of having a warm bed to hop into but I can feel every wire under the sheet and don't like that feeling. Can I put a mattress protector over the electric blanket, or is that not a safe thing to do. Show details ·  2

Can’t survive without it – During Winter I turn the electric blanket just before I go to bed every night and it makes getting a good night’s rest so much easier. Prior to this I was shivering and dreaded the idea of hopping into an ice cold bed. The blanket heats up very fast and has 3 adjustable levels. I’ve had this for about a week and I would definitely recommend it. Show details ·  1

Let there be light – This blanket is easy to fit soft texture, it heats up fairly quickly, my previous blanket was also a Sunbeam, had it for 10 years never a problem. The only thing I can say about this one is that the controls have a blue light when turned on and it lights up the room  Show details

It's not durable – After i think a week or two of using it didnt work anymore. It's not durable. It has warranty but the shop is not that close to our place that is why we still didnt exchange. We just thought we can use it for at least months but we didnt.  Show details

Comforting and warm – We got this for winter and it's been really good. Individual controls on each side allow us to have it at the temperature my partner and I are comfortable with. I'm very happy with it.  Show details

Lasted 3 months before one side stopped heating – This is the second Sunbeam blanket I have purchased in 2 years. First purchase I lost the receipt when, after one winter, one side stopped heating. With some caution I purchased another Sunbeam as it was on sale at the time. I kept the receipt and returned faulty blanket today. There is no replacement available (until next winter), but at least I got a refund. I won’t buy another Sunbeam electric blanket.  Show details

Stopped working – I bought this electric blanket just over a year ago. It was working perfectly and then about 3 months ago one side stopped working whilst the other side kept working. Now the other side has stopped working. I would not recommend buying this product.  Show details

Durable and does it job – I've been using this electric blanket for a couple of months, the temperature is adjustable to 3 different levels. The wiring was subtle enough to not interfere with sleep. For the price I'd say this is impressive.  Show details

Warm and can't feel a thing – The blanket fits perfectly with my bed. Keeps my bed warm, and feel comfortable too. The electric cables in the blanket blend in well enough that I couldn't feel a thing when we are lying on it.  Show details

Works well, keep me warm in winter – Actually I use this product not only in winter, as it has been quite cold in night in melbourne, even it's still summer. This blanket allows the temperature to be adjusted at 3 levels. Usually I barely feel any heat when using the lowest level, middle level works the best, top level heat is an overkill for me most of the time. Only downside is… Read more

the light is too bright, it disturbs my sleep at the beginning, I had to use something to wrap the light so I won't be bother by it.

Heats up super quick – It definitely heats up very quickly, which is exactly what I need. The highest setting is a bit too hot to sleep with, I use it just to warm up the bed quickly before hopping in, then I turn it off. If it's a particularly cold night, I put it on the lowest setting and let it run all night. It would be better if it had a timer, and extra warm zones… Read more

like in the foot area, but for the price I can't complain. My only complaint is the blue light on the remote when it's turned on, it can be very bright and lights up the room, which can annoy some light sensitive sleepers.

Does what it says – We bought a double size for this and lay it underneath our bed sheet. It warms up very quickly, has 3 heat levels. Does what it says. However, after less than a year of using it, one half of the electric blanket stopped working whereas the other side is still going strong. I would not recommend this due to the durability issue.  Show details

Good - does the job – Ticked all requirements: - fitted (I hate tapes that need tying down), - a variety of heat settings (3), - washable, - safety features and - a long warranty (3 years) Working as expected. Although our other electric blankets are also Sunbeam, I was not looking specifically for a Sunbeam but for the product features I wanted at the budget I'd set.
