Sunbeam Ultura 2600 Platinum SR2600

Best iron I've ever owned. Will probably see me out! – This is a brilliant iron. As a carer, I have to do all the laundry and I hated steam irons with a vengeance, you only had to drop them once and they would then spurt steam and leak water forever afterwards. Then the chalky buildup in the holes would eventually transfer white smudges to dark clothing so I had to buy special ironing water. I was in an incentive scheme at work, where you could cash in your earned points out of a catalogue, and in 2011 I ordered this iron as my current steam iron was disintegrating. When the Sunbeam arrived I was really annoyed to find that it was a dry iron which I thought were extinct anyway. Silly me?
Wow was I wrong. Nothing to go wrong or wear out here, it does a wonderful job with a spray bottle or with starch spray when doing shirts. I retired in 2012 and it's been my only iron ever since.
I find it quite hot enough, I only wear cotton due to a skin condition. I have to turn it down to do my partner's acrylic stuff. I even ironed a complete doonah cover set today as it had got crumpled in the dryer. Simple.

Perfect for shirts – Excellent iron. Much better than oversized steam iron. Have been looking for an flat iron (without holes) for a very long time. These are very hard to find.
Good – A step up from travel iron. For basic use with water spray bottle - which means no internal water tank - which means means no internal water tank mineral build-up to have to clean. I did, at one time, own an internal water tank iron which was steam-all-over-the-place and included vertical-shot-of-steam for curtains. Happy with this Sunbeam. Dry iron (no internal cleaning). Compact. Lightweight. Iron-around-buttons design. Non-stick soleplate. Built-in cord wrap. No auto power-off when not in use for prolonged periods (a safety feature of more expensive models). Advertising suggests for delicates only when in fact this iron goes right up to linen setting - albeit at a lower maximum temp.
