Swift Explorer

A brilliant van – We own a 2017 Swift Explorer 620 Purchased it Pre loved 2 years ago and it’s immaculate, like new. Have not had any issues with it and have been on some average roads, endured some huge winds and heavy rain for days and it’s stable and not a drop of water. Like everything we own, we look after things, so we are not heavy handed and it works… Read more
seamlessly. We are now touring Australia for the next 6 months in our van. As we respect our van we will not it take on massive rough roads with a continuous corrugated surfaces, we choose the roads. Design wise, everyone who enters our van is surprised with the size, layout and luxury of our van, the twin lounges and massive windows make it a joy to be in and your not falling over each other like many other vans. We have a massive fridge, beds well away from the sitting area and a full ensuite at the rear, so nicely away from the kitchen zone and you can shower and change privately even when you have guests. I totally agree another person’s comment above that Australian caravan manufacturers could learn a lot from Swift, I wish one would copy the layout exactly, soft lighting and warm colours and market it, we would definitely purchase one, it works brilliantly! Great Caravan – Bought our 2015 Swift Explorer 645 secondhand. So far it has been excellent to tow and set up. Much lighter than Australian vans, which makes it much safer to tow. A lot of thought has gone into the layout and day to day use. Australian manufacturers could learn a lot from Swift. Just a great modern van that is very comfortable to live in. Show details
SWIFT STRUCTURAL WARRANTY WORTH ZIP – Loved the new 2016 van, thought we were in for many years of safe travel, now in a sorry position feeling very un-roadworthy and unsafe ...deplore how when the walls separated from the floor among other things, Swift can decide they are liable for only half of the substantial repairs when obviously its an assembly/manufacturing fault. We now have… Read more
angle iron re-reinforcement under both sides of the van from front boot to wheels, huge aluminium plates bolted in the boot to chassis and reinforced panels on the side of the boot. In reality it needs to be properly reconstructed and re-bonded.
The top window has popped out with the movement but Swift won't allow a claim because they only warranty 1st 12 months, we have pics of the boot coming apart in the first 6 months evidence the de-bonding was occurring then.
Needless to say we have had no answers to our emails. This was a huge investment for us, so our advice is, although they look great on the surface don't be tempted, learn from so many of us already bitten with the 'SWIFT SNAKE OIL' - from the salespeople/dealer to the promise of a great warranty, go elsewhere for your light van. There is a great untapped market out there for a 'light van company' willing to 'DO THE RIGHT THING' and be honest. this is a published quote from one of the principals … Unlike some ‘grey’ or private importers of Swift caravans in Australia, Mr Kammerlocher said Swift Australia would be able to offer full customer support and back-up including Swift’s full, factory-backed warranty which extends to three years on internal fittings, six years on chassis and 10 years bodyshell (including water ingress). We now know this is a CLAYTONS warranty, for those who don't remember the 1980's Claytons ad.....it was 'the drink you have when you're not having a drink' so its the warranty you have when your not getting a warranty,
Does everything asked of it – Since purchasing our 2014 Swift Explorer 645 in we have enjoyed many long trips with no problems whatsoever. Our decision to purchase the Swift followed extensive research on many other vans - mostly Australian made vans. Nothing comes close to our Swift in terms of comfort, ease of towing, standard features and value for money. It is a sheer… Read more
pleasure to tour in the Explorer. Sure, it is not a big wheeled rugged off road van but getting to many free camping sites via gravel roads and side tracks has never been an issue with everything inside the van remaining intact. On one trip we experienced a massive storm. torrential rain and very strong side winds. Not one sign of a leak anywhere and the van towed like a dream when other caravaners were pulling over and seeking cover from the elements.
Australian manufacturers need to take note of how the Brits can put together a van of this quality for the price.
The many people who looked over our van while on our trips were knocked over by the luxury finish and comfort inside the Explorer.
If you are wanting to travel Australia with a high degree of comfort and without huge fuel bills from towing a big heavy rig you'd be hard pressed to better the Swift Explorer. The real bonus is this spacious van can be towed by most family cars so low fuel bills are especially welcome.
The worst of British caravans – Very attractive, comfortable van unfortunately let down by the use of cheap poor quality materials and assembly. The Australian importing distributor lacks the capacity to support these vans and relies on backyard repairers to provide warranty service. Don't expect to travel long distances in one of these before structural failures bring you to a grinding halt.
