Benny Bunny enjoyed his recent stay! – Thanks to the team at Sydney Petlands for looking after Benny recently. Leaving a bunny for boarding is stressful, however the team were great, he was well cared for and enjoyed his stay.

THE WORST PLACE FOR CATS AND BIRDS – This is the worst boarding place in Sydney for cats and birds. Recently I had the most traumatic experience ever! My older cat (10 y.o.) ended up at the veterinary hospital for the last three nights of her stay at this horrid pace, which cost me an additional $800. The information given over the phone was incorrect, they basically lied about their… Read more

facilities. The reason I chose these pet boarding facilities in the first place was because they offered to look after my bird (quaker parrot) as well, which, I thought was handy, to have all our pets in one place. Also, as this place is in Dural, I thought that there will be nice roomy accommodations for my cats and a big cage for my bird. Over the phone, they said that the cage for my bird will be very big and that the birds are kept in a separate room. This was not the case! When we arrived with our two cats and a bird to check them in, we had to wait at the reception for approximately 25 min. That would be ok. What startled me was the person who finally appeared at the reception said that they usually didn't let customers to take their pets into the facility (first time ever in my experience, all pet boarding facilities which we used before always let us into the premises to help our pets settle into their rooms so they are not too stressed). I said I'd like to follow my pets into their rooms to see how they settle. She reluctantly let us in beyond a very high front gate. The room where the cats are kept is very small and dark, there are at least 30 very small cages crammed on top of each other in that small room. There is only one large cage for cats (they refer to it as VIP) right in front of the ONLY window, which obstructs the daylight to the already dark room. The rest of the cats cages are tiny, dingy and inadequate. Another shocking discovery was that the birds were kept IN THE SAME ROOM WITH THE CATS. I was shocked as on the phone they clearly stated that birds are kept in a separate room! I didn't have time to argue about that fact, as we had to depart on our holiday in the morning, I didn't have time to make any new arrangements. The promised very large cage for my parrot appeared to be very small, crammed with various items, tucked away to the very back of the dark dingy room. We couldn't put many of our parrot's toys into his cage as there was no room. I left the premises with a very heavy heart, hoping for my pets to survive the 10-day ordeal in that grim crammed place. A few days later a person from Sydney petlands rang me saying that my older cat (she is not that old, 10 y.o) was sick, wasn't eating or drinking, and was vomiting all the time. I agreed for the sick cat to be taken to the vet for a check-up. She ended up on a drip for dehydration for three days. The vet couldn't find anything serious, concluding that such a state most likely was due to severe stress. I presume, also might be due to the inadequate food that was fed to my cat. So I ended up paying $800 extra for the vet services and my cat's stay at the vets. The vet recommended not to return my cat to the boarding facility! When I approached Sydney petlands for a refund for the 3 nights that my older cat had to stay at the vets clinic, they offered a ridiculous amount of $35, as a joke I guess. When asked why only $35, they said they had to call for a pet taxi to take my cat to the vet's hospital, which incurred $51, this is so absurd as the vet's clinic is literally 2 minutes!!! drive from the boarding place! I can't believe the farm doesn't have a single truck or a car available on their land!!! Their excuses are plain ridiculous! They also claimed some admin fee on top of everything! What a nerve! I will not comment on their dogs' keeping facilities as I didn't see them, only heard very loud non-stop barking from another part of the farm, which is not good for cats and birds, causing them extra stress!! But what I can say adamantly is that this place IS NOT SUITABLE FOR CATS AND BIRDS! It's a disgrace and it should be shut down! My frustration is beyond any limits! These people clearly greedy for money and don't care for cats and birds adequately.

Petlands is a place I can leave my much loved Harry with confidence that he will be well treated and looked after – Keely and her team are obviously all real animal lovers and devoted to their charges. Our dog Harry (the Staffy) is a bundle of excitement at times and I can only say how happy we are with his treatment whilst under their care. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Highly recommend – Left my 6 month labradoodle for the first time at a kennel and was quite anxious. Keely was very reassuring and answered all my questions. She showed me the place and explained the routinue. They offer socialising with similar dogs which is great. Also the kennels were very clean and there's ample room for the dogs to move. The place was… Read more

Young dog was very distressed – Two years ago my 6 month old dog spent time at petlands. For a second time Christmas 2016 now 1 and a half year old dog who is very social with other dogs and a friendly go lucky personality, spent 18 days at Petlands resort. Halfway during his stay, I received a phone call from the owner informing me my dog was not himself and recommended he be… Read more

taken to the vet. I was informed he had a tear in his bottom and he needed antibiotics. The owner assured me within a day he was back to his normal self. I contacted the vet directly and was informed my dog may have been distressed.

When I collected my dog, I found him to have lost weight (he was so thin) and he definitely was not him self. He moped at round the house for about a month and he was NOT the bubbly happy dog we remember. It felt like we put our young dog in jail.

I do not recommend this kennel.

Highly recommended – We lodged our cocker spaniel Roxy with Sydney Petlands for 3 weeks in September 2016. Mel and her team kept us informed about Roxy by Facebook which was very reassuring while we were overseas. Mel's hands on management and her policy of keeping dogs paired with dogs of a similar size and temperament seemed to work extremely well for our dog. We will be using Sydney Petlands in the future. Thanks !

We've use Sydney Petlands 3 Times now! – We've used Sydney Petlands 3 times now boarding our 2 Chihuahua x Terriers aged 6 and 8. They were housed together in the small dog section which suited my anxious little girl well. I felt comfortable knowing that someone lives on site to attend to them 24/7 if needed and they loved their time in the yard. The staff were great in making sure my… Read more

July 10th 2017 Update: Returning Customer!

Once again we have used Sydney Petlands for our 2 small dogs. We recently travelled overseas for 2 weeks (only just arrived home this weekend) and we're still extremely happy with their stay! Our usually anxious little girl was SO excited walking into the office for check in. Her tail was wagging and she was bouncing around; this was a definite sign for me that she enjoys her time there. Upon pick up they were both still as equally energetic and smothering the staff in kisses. As I drove away my boy whimpered as if he wanted to stay. Yet again, we will be coming back for our next holidays :-D

So kind and caring, especially with my old girl!! – Over Christmas last year I left my 15, nearly 16, year old dog in Mel's very capable hands for a week. My dog has some anxiety issues, what with being half deaf and half blind, so I was very wary of leaving her. I received dozens of updates over the week and a bit she was there and couldn't be happier with how she was cared for! She was so content at Sydney petlands and I wouldn't leave my dog anywhere else!

My dog has starved – We left our 2-year-old male Doberman here for a bit over a week during the Christmas break. We dropped him off weighing close to 40kg and he has come back looking terrible and about 10% lighter, looking like a rescue dog. They said he was off his food. Well, a call would have been appreciated or a diet rotation. They opened in October 2014 so a young kennel with little experience and do hope they mature. Go to a more reputable kennel.
