Helpful with our urgent need to cancel booking at short notice – a) On 22 October 2023 at around 11:04 hours, to surprise my family, I purchased tickets for the Sydney Zoo online. b) I assumed that, from our place of residence, we could reach the Zoo by 12:00 hours, which is the time I put on my reservations. That was an overly optimistic mistake on my side. c) Due to multiple unexpected events, including being a witness to road rage on Lane Cove Road (reported at Ryde Local Area Police Command), we were unable to start travel and reach the Zoo before probably 14:00 hours (two hour delay). Considering the fact that the Zoo closes gates at 17:00 hours, our travel would have been a huge waste.
As we were unable to go there, a day later asked for a refund. I tried to cancel the credit card transfer and the Bank advised to first try to speak to the Zoo. Apparently, the first (and easiest) option was for the merchant to cancel the pre-authorisation and reimburse my account.
d) According to Sydney Zoo policy, they normally offer customers to reschedule, which was not possible for us as some members of our family were leaving Australia soon afterwards.
e) On 24 October 2023, Sydney Zoo cancelled the credit card transaction.
That was a very positive outcome for us.
Their staff understood out strong reasons for the cancellation.

The best zoo – Omg you have to go to Sydney Zoo. It is sooo good. Nothing like Taronga Zoo. I took my 2 children and we booked the meerkat enclosure for half an hour. You pay extra but omg the best experience ever. The meerkats climb all over you and you can pat them. I highly recommend the visit.
