Twice I have had issues with my electricity supply and both times the service to rectify these issues was first class. Both the operator on the initial calls and the guys that visited my home were polite and professional without fault. Show details

Want a cushy job? Go and became a n electric meter reader! Since the Smart Meters are on agenda and pushing it on any cost, trick, or manipulation Tasnetwork has created a policy by witch the meter reader does not have to enter into a rural property if there is a dog noted on file. The dog needs to be visibly restrained. I have not been honored by… Read more
our meter reader for a reading for more than a year. On the day minus a day and plus a day, my dog must be restrained VISIBLY to gain access to the meter. I am on a 4 acre farm. Several fences, gates, homestead, paddocks. Last time - last week - the reader did not even turned up at my gate! But I had an estimated bill because he couldn't gain safe access to the meter... 3 months before: the dog was visibly restrained on a shaded side of the house on visible leash, the reader rolled up to the gate and without trying to enter, reversed and drove away. Previous 3 month: the dog was locked up in the woodshed under cover because it was winter. The meter reader did not enter into the property or even honk the horn to find it out if we still have a dog... Didn't read. So if you want a job where encouraging you by company policy to lie and/or sabotage your duty, go to be a meter reader. If you ask any of the call center staff to explain what is the Visible Restraint and the Feeling of Safety? They can not explain. I'd rather would go completely Off Grid then accept a technology that is never been proven safe.
THE POWER OF NONE – Our power is off constantĺy,almost weekly,an hours work takes these jerks all day if your lucky and we have helicopters flying low over our property constantly doing 'eagle surveys' for hours. This company is a government joke! Show details
P*ssed off and powerless – Tasnetworks you should be bloody ashamed with yourselves at the moment !! Absolutely abhorrent that some people have been without power for almost a week or more (ours has been off since Sunday) we live on a property that has tank water so no electricity means no pump , no pump means yep you guessed it no water either . I think the little country… Read more
towns should be your first port of call, not the big city's that have amenities to be able to charge your phone in case of emergencies and have running water . How the hell do you expect people to live like this . Your a disgrace get your act together and sort this sh*t out !!
TasNetworks – After having my car damaged by a TasNetworks truck that had blue metal on it, driving along the highway, reporting it to them and then months of dealing with Stacey from TasNetworks complaints. She had assured me that TasNetworks would take responsibility and they would handle everything, has now back tracked in her statement to me. She asked me… Read more
for the video footage and the quote that they asked me to supply and now she and TasNetworks have left me without even an apology about their driver. What a company this is! They should be ashamed of themselves and their staff!

Trespassing TasNetworks Meter Readers – Update: Tasnetworks Management just offered and paid me financial compensation for their meter readers three counts of civil trespass. (Original review dated three weeks ago) 'Trespassing, harrassing staff'. Registered for SMS reminders 3-5 business days in advance of meter read, as I am a pet owner and random pet carer for injured wildlife.… Read more
And, my meter box is situated behind my side fence giving instant access to rear-grounds. In March 2024, Tasnetworks SMS said, 'Your meter will be read on the 8th, yet the Meter Reader turned up on the 3rd. After inquiry, I got a hollow, lame 'we are sorry about that, it won't happen again'. In June 2024, TASNETWORKS SMS notified my meter would be read on the 11th of June, but the meter reader turned up on the 6th of June. And again after complaints, I got, 'so sorry about that, our mistake it won't happen again'. This organization enjoys causing this customer maximum distress while billing a huge $1.22-cents-a-day distribution fee. I resigned from caring for injured wild-life and peoples' pets during bushfires, two weeks ago, due to these bungling, trespassers who couldn't even ring to ask permission to change the meter read date while risking me pets and fostered wildlife running out onto the main road.
Worst company ever – Ambiguous objectives Ridiculous tasks Unprofessional employees with power to make decisions Do not trust this company Show details
If we could rate them minus 10 we would – We "need " power to be available to our recent small development, so 3 .. yes 3 turrets to be installed so power is available and we can finally get council to "sign off" on the few blocks of land we subdivided so we can get titles and sell them. After COVID struck we were getting no guests staying at our cabin park so we decided to sell our… Read more
cabins and subdivide the land. Long story short.. we have had to withdraw all our super to pay for development and it's ready to go basically.. except for power . Yes tas networks said it will be $50 thousand dollars and we will require payment immediately if you want to proceed. If you cancel order you will be fined and have to pay for submitting another request. So we paid the amount and then got told you will have to wait 7-8 months before we can do it. Every thing else is done .. sitting waiting for power to be available. NO other company or corporation to my knowledge operates like this. I asked if I could pay when the work is done... But that's not how the monopoly of tas networks operates. They are a disgrace to the government and the taxpayers of Tasmania. It may sound like sour grapes but I would like to know of any other company that operates in this fashion? This is not an isolated incident either... Have heard of numerous cases very similar to ours. I guarantee if it was someone influencial, important or had a mate in government it would be done post haste. I would advise anyone not to deal with these smug dictators but you have no choice... Being a MONOPOLY.
Tasmania networks are shameful !!!! – I own a property in country Tasmania. I have had 11 power outages in under 6 months! Most of these have lasted 6 hours - 4 days! Tasmania networks knew the lines were down one day,and they sent a truck and crew along 6 hours later to start the 30 minute repair. Shameful conduct. They also had ETS cut down to the ground,5 of my trees on my own… Read more
property without my consent, for no reason! The meter readers would simply drive past and not bother to read my meter,3 times in a row and then claim the gate was locked, vicious dogs were trying to kill them,it was raining,it was too cold to get out of the vehicle, computer said no,too friggen lazy etc..etc...They also set a date to install a new auto read meter and I stayed home waiting for them all day and they did a no show. Excuse was it was raining,so too dangerous!!!! No rain all day up here and my meter is under a verandah! Honestly,Tasmania networks totally suck!!!!!!!!!!!! I am now able at last to at least switch to another company for the power charge side of things, but still stuck with these losers.
Dug a trench on council property that now floods my property – Tas networks upgraded a transformer which included earth wires in new trenches. They used contractors. The contractos dug down hill to the pole. Now all surface water takes the path of least resistance and floods my driveway which is below the pole. This has only began since the trench was dug. I jave had casemangers and local y3chs come put but… Read more
they refuse to take accountability. It is clear they actually don't know when they did the work as the use different contractors for different work. The only records they jave are the work they did. I.e the transformer. I 2as home for all of the work amd have given all the info as they could only go off one of the supervisors memory of the job. Poor handling lack of accountabilities and even didn't respond when I offered a compromise. I asked them to simply locate the wires and I would dig a secondary trench. As I jave had poor response I have retracted mt compromise .
Poor customer service, dishonest staff – Yous claim to care for the consumer what about my $1200 bill that I have been trying to catch up on because Tasnetworks failed to read my meter for over 7 months which meant aurora only estimated bills and never questioned 2 missed reads?? Or the fact your staff member lied about access issues to the meter which was proven by your head meter… Read more
reader upon visiting the property and there was no repocussions for the said worker but I have to suffer the financial repocussions.. Surprise surprise you's don't care and tell me to speak with aurora and there resolution is to tell me to go to the ombudsman great attempt at a resolution from both of yous.. I wonder how many more customers have been put into this situation due to the incompetence of your chosen meter readers. Switch to a smart meter they say then you don't have to deal with tasnetworks again, I have done that now what do we do about the issue of the bill that was created through dishonesty and poor work standards that I'm struggling to manage??. I was up to date with my bill before this and the amount owing still over 12 months later is still what you's created I am paying a high payment per fortnight and still can't get anywhere. There was no dispute of the usage being used by me but it was a new connection and the new property has wood hearing not heat pump when first moved in so I assumed that is why the bills were low, it was only about 7 months 2 bills plus connection ect that I checked my meter only to discover it was over 2000kw under estimated on heat tariff and 1500kw on light ect tarriff. Neither yourself or aurora accept any responsibility for the dishonesty or the financial pressure created.
Monopoly, Not just a board game – High prices. Poor service. Outages every spring due to winds that are clockwork regular. Very slow to respond to issues. Refuse to read meter if you have a gate (because it somehow means you have evil dogs of doom) Will 'estimate' meter readings hundreds of dollars higher than is actually the case on purpose and call it, a 'margin of error'… Read more
that 'will be corrected on your next reading' (as long as you get rid of your gate)
When another company attempted to set up here in TAS these jokers demanded extortionate amounts of money from the other company in an effort to protect their monopoly, which resulted in the new entry taking a $50m loss and pulling out of the state before signing up a single customer.
Up until recently were using slow (standard) post to send out bills which was meaning due date was before delivery date of bill, adding %10 interest (which was only reversed if you called about EVERY invoice)
The average Tasmanian is subsidizing the absurdly cheap (by comparison) price of power for big business like Pasminco and Bell Bay Aluminium all with a nod an a wink from state Govt.
And to add the icing on the cake, when you try to make a complaint to someone you are kindly (smugly) offered the option of going with the competition.
p.s I gave 1 star out of 5 because 0 isn't an option.
Electricity monopoly is bad for consumers – TasNetworks supplies the power from the generation source to homes and businesses through a network of transmission towers, substations and powerlines in Tasmania.l am experiencing an issue with electricity metering in that solar will not export when tariff 42 is on (solar isn't supposed to affect tariff 42). Nicole, the TasNetworks 'Customers… Read more
Advocacy Officer' informed me a meter techician would attend. He didn't so another date set. I was told I would receive a call about the meter reading. I didn't. As TasNetworks are a monopoly in Tasmania, their poor level of service to consumers is a reflection of that lack of competitors.
