Against my better judgment, I was advised to purchase the Taubmans 3 in 1 as the store did not stock Zinssa ( what I wanted to purchase). Worst decision I ever made! Painted over 1980’s pine paneling and after applying primer and then 2 coats of paint the tannins and original gloss bled through causing severe yellowing of the top coat. Started… Read more

the process again applying a second coat of primer and then another 2 coats of paint, you could still see the yellowing coming through (6 coats in total)!! Not recommended to use as primer on wood!!

Was surprised by how good this was for an undercoat/stain blocker. Used on bathroom came up almost as nice as the top coat, one rough beams stained in brown it blocked perfectly with two coats. Quality product and best I have found. Show details ·  1

Taubmans 3 in 1 – Used Taubmans 3 in 1 undercoat, sealer primer on old interior polyurethane windows. Sanded flaking poly, wiped down, used this product as a first undercoat, yellowing came thru from timber. Waited 24 hours and did a second coat, still yellowing showing thru. The next coat should be a top coat, however I am concerned the yellowing will appear thru… Read more

Extremely puzzled – Hi taubmans I got 4 litres of this yesterday and wondering if it's supposed to be as runny as water? There is no thickness to it at all. Show details

The best all-round 3 in 1 primer – Purchased the Taubmans 3 in 1 Prep Primer to get our home renovations started. The Prep Primer is ideal for all surfaces. Super versatile, we have used the product to prime our internal walls and window frames. Provided a great base for our neutral white wall paint. 1 coat was sufficient. Easy to apply. Show details ·  1

My go-to primer – This primer is my go-to for coverage, providing a good base for top coats, and easy application. Rarely use anything else unless looking for a super heavy-duty stain blocker (in which case I use Dulux high opacity stain blocker but I don't love that finish or application as much). Show details ·  1

Brilliant over oil based enamel – I was a bit dubious about this 3 in 1 Prep, but it's great. It is a good thick paint. It says that you don't have to sand oil based enamel back, but I did, just in case. I have just completed 11 doors downstairs and the 3 in 1 went on well. I used 1 coat of the 3 in 1 and covered it with 2 coats of water based enamel. Took under 30 minutes to… Read more ·  2

touch dry and painted top coats approximately 2 hours later. Not sure how long it will last, but I live in hope.

Very happy with this as base coat – Used on old enamel-painted windows and sills. Excellent coverage, easy to use, dries super fast. Very happy with this paint! Used new enamel paint as the top coat. Beautiful results  Show details ·  1

Definitely not stain blocking – 4 coats and the tannin is still bleeding through. I have sanded and cleaned the walls. Bunnings said this product would work…well it didn’t and wasted my time and money on 4Ls…next. Show details

Better/cheaper options available – I have used this product several times on the same house. Most recently to prime/ cover an 80"s peach covered ceiling. Dont ask. It required 3 coats and there remained residual straining and frankly i was grossly disappointed with the results. I was at my wits end on how to end this persistent peach problem. A discussion with the builder next door… Read more

suggested i use the spring ceiling flat plastic (bunnings). Its quarter the price and thicker so im told. Picked up 4 litres for $14. So this sounds dodgy? Right. Well one coat later the roof was covered and finished. No dang peach bleeding through, just flat ceiling white. Wouldnt have believed had i not done it. Do what works .

Does not stop tannin staining – I am using this over varnished wooden kitchen cabinets. I sanded the cabinets back to wood in many places, and I am still seeing yellow stains come through the second coat of Taubmans 3-in-1. I will attempt to finish the kitchen by lightly sanding the cabinets and doors, relying more on the paint's alleged ability to stick to gloss surfaces than its proven inability to block tannin.

In fact, the tannin bled through 3 coats of this paint. Very poor show. Lesson learned: for proper tannin blocking, use an oil-based primer/undercoat.

Love this product – I have used this on vanished timber and on timber veneer tables. Both have turned out great. I used two coats for the hallway table which was previously vanished. I gave a very light sand and it was fantastic. I then painted with interior paint to finish the project. My table was veneered and also gave it a light sand before using 3in1. I… Read more ·  1

use this table outside under cover of my patio. I only used one coat, then finished with Taubmans exterior sun-proof paint. I love the look and it has stopped the bubbling from water damage. The 3 in 1 also worked well for a laminate toy dressers I have for my little ones playroom. No issues, has stood the test of many opening closing, stacking, removing and replacing clothes. I am going to try my laminate TV stand next as I do not like the dark color.

I agree it is good – Used it for in and out side work. Covers very well. However i have a stuborn old oil surface that it wont stick to BUT neither will red Zinzzer which stick to glass metal etc.

Top quality versatile product – This paint really does what is says. I've used it as a base coat over old gloss paints instead of endless sanding and it works. As long as you clean the surface thoroughly it will stick. And if you get it tinted grey it will cover any colour, ready for your top coat.

Actually a very good paint product – Wrote this review because many paint products, especially water based enamels, these days are pretty awful. So I thought would write about a good product - that might help get better results from top coat paint. Found Taubmans 3 in 1 to be very useful & versatile. Originally bought as undercoat for enamel on timber trims (to go from… Read more

existing water & new primed to oil based interior & exterior), then found out it could also be used as primer for bare gyprock/cornices to interior paints as well.

Easy to use/spread but quite dense - so has excellent coverage with 1 coat. Also covers over previous coatings very well & is self leveling like old fashioned paint. So a lot of the issues with water based enamels being so thin & needing multiple coats to hide a previous colour aren't relevant.

Hope this helps other people who just want a paint that works. (Don't just take my word for it. This stuff gets great reviews all over the internet. I did a lot of research. I also rang Taubmans direct to find out what it's proper use was before buying - so I wasn't just taking some salesperson's word for it in Bunnings & wasting my money.)

I don't work for any of these companies. Just think good products should be reviewed too.
