An extremely poor product. I purchased Tradex Pro Flat Ceiling White for a new ceiling and used Tradex Ultraprep as the base, which I found to be good. I’ve also previously used Taubmans Tradex Flat Ceiling, which is a significantly better product than the Trade Pro Ceiling. I dont have a problem with Tradex Ultraprep or Tradex Ceiling. problem is specifically the frustration dealing with Taubmans due to the poor quality of the Tradex Pro which is a different cheaper ceiling paint.
Like many other reviews—including those on Bunnings—I experienced the same issue: the paint is very thin, almost like milk, and even after two coats there was still noticeable transparency.
I contacted Taubmans and provided photos and detailed information in good faith, hoping they would take the feedback seriously and perhaps send a representative to inspect the issue. Instead, I was given the runaround. After requesting additional information—which I supplied—I was ultimately told they couldn’t assist and that I should contact Bunnings.
Bunnings, to their credit, were excellent to deal with. What I find frustrating is that Taubmans often replies to complaints or poor reviews saying, “Please contact us so we can find a resolution.” In my experience, there was no genuine attempt to resolve anything, and the communication was frustrating throughout.
Based on my experience, I would strongly advise staying away from Taubmans Trade Pro Ceiling.

paint fumes have subsided, great value, i had advice from a qualified painter, and he said that's what they use,so it's really good quality paint,I now have a wonderful, new ceiling throughout, only 2 coats, amazing what it covered, thought i would of seen something though it? Only white skies above.
EXTREMELY TOXIC! DO NOT RECOMMEND – My father was helping me out after my bedroom ceiling collapsed. Without consulting me this is the paint he purchased and I am couch surfing in my own house +4 weeks now due to the toxic voc fumes still continuing to be emitted. Slept in the room a few times to test it out only to have nausea, vertigo, headaches and the fumes smell staining inside… Read more
my mouth and nose throughout the day. I now have to figure out whether to use a low-voc odour-blocking primer before I re-paint the walls with Tint.
I do not recommend this paint at all. It does not state on the packaging that it is High VOC, they have omitted any information pertaining to VOC from their safety data sheet, however I did read somewhere online that it is 'high voc' and from personal experience alone, I know it is, this is a nasty product. The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Immaculate results – Taubmans tradex flat ceiling paint. I have used this paint twice now, tinted, to freshen my bathroom, hallway and bedroom ceilings. I only have good things to say about tradex. A very pleasant paint to work with, creamy and on the thicker side (unlike tradepro skim milk) and glides on beautifully. Covers well, no roller mark lines, no patches,… Read more · 1
no drips or runs, and it gave me a perfect flat finish with great results that were seen after just the first coat. It made me rethink the need to apply any extra coats if not for the fact that colours come thru better after the first coat.
I just inspected my bedroom ceiling and it is flawless. I mean flawless. Very happy to have used this paint with a 270mm microfiber 12mm nap roller and 10mm for the cut ins. The cut ins and main sections blended seamlessly with no picture framing.
Paid $47 from bunnings for 4L and I consider it well worth the price, punches above its price point.
Give this a go first unless you can find haymes paint for cheaper.
Exceptional Result from Taubmans Tradex Interior Low Sheen Paint – After getting disappointing results using another famous brand paint, I decided to give Taubmans a go. I'm glad I did because the finished result is excellent. It was easy to apply, dried fairly quickly and looks great. I bought 10lt from Bunnings and will buy some more to complete the rest of the house. Show details · 1
Excellent product – Had excellent results on our former more modern House although after selling that and purchasing a 1960 House which hasn't a straight wall or Ceiling in the house this Ceiling paint hides the defects perfectly, Impressed Show details · 2
Great coverage excellent paint – Have been using other paint brands and had trouble with painting the house again then i came upon reviews for the Tradex Brand absolutely Brilliant ,great coverage hides imperfections sand easily why buy the premium brands when this is just brilliant cannot recommend enough Micheal. ceiling and walls are both brilliant Show details · 1
Great value. I'll buy this Tradex from now on – As a full-time Handyman/renovator, I have always used Taubmans more expensive paints (in the fancy looking metal tins), but gave the Tradex variant a try today. I found that it is just as good, for a much better price. It was easy to apply, and hardly had any odor (low VOC). I have yet to try the Tradex wall paint, but will be trialing it in the… Read more · 1
next few days. From now on, I'll be using the Tradex variant, unless the customer requests a specific brand.
Simple to use and great even coverage – Tradex ceiling paint is great for hiding blemishes and uneven surfaces on ceiling. I always get it tinted with lexicon white to make it a slightly darker tint for better coverage and to hide the joint lines. The paint dries evenly and only needs two coats for a flat Matt finish. Third Reno project and the results speak for itself. Excellent product. Show details
I'd definitely recommend it and use it again – Taubmans Tradex Professional Ceiling Flat White 15L. I've used this product in the past and have just used it again for our new house with the same great result. I applied the first coat in one direction and the second coat perpendicular to the first. It covered all the lines, putty and marks by the second coat. I was using the 270mm Monarch… Read more
Razorback rollers with 12mm nap and found that the paint stuck so well I barely needed the drop cloths and the finish was seamless.
I'd definitely recommend it and use it again.
value, good finish – I use this paint in one coat wonders and three coat jobs, good spread, does not show roller lines, I always get good finish. I do like appling it on the thick side the first coat or one coat wonders, as it bit more hard wearing that way. Low odour. Hardly splatters. Washes out rollers and brushes easily.
Good paint even better price! – I've used many tins of Taubmans paint, ranging from their Tradex to LivingProof Silk, Endure, Water based enamel gloss and Performance Plus products. I'm a big fan of their paints overall and have painted my house inside and out with Taubmans paint. Big fan of the oil based undercoat and ceiling white and have never had problems with them. undercoat adheres well to nearly anything, sands really smoothly. The ceiling white covers very well for the price, so no complaints from me. No need to spend the extra bucks on shiny labels and advertising. I'd still recommend a higher end product for top coating though, as they tend to be easier to apply (less chance of stuffing up) and added benefits like good washability and anti-mould/fungal properties.
Only complaint is the metal lid is very flimsy and difficult to open if the paint is left to dry on the rim. You may end up destroying the lid completely.
Roller marks – Found the coverage OK but realized after painting one room that it finished off better if you painted one way in the room for the first coat, then cross ways the room for the second. When light hits the room in the morning you can see roller marks in the first room. The second there is not a problem. Went on well with no drips to worry about. … Read more
A good result overall. Bright white colour looks very fresh and clean, staying that way for several years now. The cost was compariable with other leading ceiling paints. Easy to clean brushes. Application issues, but once sorted went on like a dream.
