waste of money and time – IT takes HOURS to heat up to a lukewarm temperature, which doesn NOT produce steam, just a tepid heat. Cannot get any ssistance with trouble shooting. We have followed EVERY insyttruction (YES, we DID put water in the reservoir). HUGE waste of money. The "extra" items (add-ons) never arrived, which doesn't matter as it doesnt work anyway. would not waste any more time with this review. I have written it off as a disappointing rip off of a purchase.
Water leaks and trips the power – *Not easy to use *Have to wear the gloves to prevent the hot handle to burn your skin. *Water leaves in the base of the machine and extremely difficult to clean. *Trips the power after clean the water from the base of the machine. ****DO NOT BUY AND WASTE YOUR MONEY*** Show details
Doesn’t last – Probably just out of warranty and steamer now trips the power so all power points including the fridge turn off. Clumsy water container leaves water in the base of the machine which is difficult to remove each time by turning whole machine upside down and trying it in the laundry sink. Better design re: water container Show details
Steams well but too hot – Has a very good durable structure to hang clothes such as shirts and coats and clips to hang pants Different attachments to straighten and press pants Need to be careful of the steam as it gets very hot quickly - should wear gloves when holding the steamer Does the job very well Show details
Absolutely rubbish – Absolutely rubbish. Broke first day. Called tefal and been told to go to the shop, went to the shop where I bought it from and they said call tefal, tefal said please address the shop you have spoken to tegal and they told you to go to the shop. OMG. Absolutely crap. DO NOT BUY Show details
Press & steam. Clever – For those who don't like ironing and chores in general. Get this. Steams with a roll down backing 'pad'. Just an extra help with supporting the clothes for the hard to straighten areas. Doesn't feel like a chore. Takes little time to heat up. And clothes just feel fresher. Use it to steam the bed as well. Kills bed bugs! Show details
Broke day 1 – What can I say. The hose broke on day 1. My wife and I were quote excited as we had some clothes that go shiny and don't iron too good. For about 30 minutes it looked like it was going to work for us, and the clothes looked pretty good and didn't shine up. Minute 31, and the hose is broken. I could hardly believe it. the base. Steam no longer going out the handle, all coming out the now broken hose.
Extremely disappointed. I might have a look at a Phillips and see if that lasts any longer.
Terrible – What i thought i had bought was a clothes steamer and press to make life easy. What i got when I opened the box was a humidifier. Used a whole container of water and did not even manage to steam out one shirt crease free. Dont these folk test their products before release? Oh and safety concern be prepare to get burnt. place the steam handle while you prepare your garment to get steamed. So the steamer handle is held either with one hand while you struggle to place the garment on the stand or you simply have to leave it on the floor to steam your carpet for a few minutes. TEFAL this is a major disappointment for a product I used to associate quality with tefal...
Steamer tripping power but Tefal were very easy to deal with – My steamer also started tripping the power when I turned it on and of course it was 2 months out of warranty. I rang Tefal and they were very helpful and authorised David Jones to replace the steamer. I still had all my paper work and receipts, which is probably a requirement. The product was great for what we used it for and I have rated Tefal excellent purely on their response to the problem. Show details
Really useful but leaking reservoir an electrical hazard – Not sure why but my steamer is tripping my electrical system. Suspect that its a leak from the water reservoir. Of course this would happen just outside the 2 year warranty window which makes this an expensive purchase. Pity because I found it useful in getting the teenagers to smarten up their clothes without fear of ruining them. Show details
The only thing that works as designed on this is that steam comes out of one end – I really wanted to like this. I thought it would make life easier. Unfortunately, keeping clothes on it sucks. The clips don't even hold up my light suit pants very well (they don't have much grip). The clothes hanger attachment is too low. If you want to steam a formal shirt, you basically have to unbutton it, button it over the main holder,… Read more
then steam the front. Then undo the buttons, flip the garment, button it on backwards and steam the other side. The back of the unit has a tension knob, so you can't really steam the back of a shirt without leaving an imprint of it on there unless you do this flipping thing. It's not particularly wide either, so trying to get clothes to remain straight is a problem. This means I remove creases, but if I let go new creases form before my jacket cools down.
I'm not very tall, but even I found that my clothes were hanging about a foot lower than is comfortable to steam with.
That brush attachment that is included - after 2 uses, it fell off the steam wand and I can't get it to stay back on. The steam wand itself gets fairly hot.
The roll and press system is a good idea, but it would be better if they had one in front and one in the back to offset this problem. Speaking of offset, the steam wand storage is right on top. It gets in the way if you want to add or remove clothes from the unit (since the low hanging clothes hanger attachment is too low for proper use). This should be offset to the side so it doesn't interfere with operation.
My overall feeling is that somebody came up with a bunch of random features that look good on paper, but then nobody at Tefal decided to take a prototype home and actually test it before it entered production. If we hadn't thrown out the box already, I would have returned it. Since I have it, I think I'm going to try and modify it to add some sort of roll and press system on the back, an additional clothes hanger point further up and an offset holder.
For the $200 (Australian) that I paid for this on sale, it's not remotely worth it. I would have been better off buying a cheaper Phillips one, especially if I'm going to add those features in myself.
Quick and easy but failed outside 2 warrantee – Its not a prefect on heavy wrinkles but i reduce spinning the shirts in the washing machine so the steamer just finishes off nicely. It did cut ironing time so I really like using a steamer, but it died just outside 2 years warrantee, I brought this from retavision in August 2014 and it stopped working January 2017, so this steamer is a bit on the pricey side for its short life. I'll try another brand Show details

Money waster – The Tefal Steam & Press, Save your money. Its not as simple as shown in demo's, it won't get out heavy wrinkles, you can do it far quicker with an iron and the garment comes out a little damp. Maybe it could work as a window cleaner, its a waste of money. Show details

Doesn't remove even the smallest creases – If you are looking to remove some creases don't bother. It is cumbersome to use and burns my hand more than it removes creases. My advice is stick with an iron. My $40 iron gets better results. Spoke with Tefal customer service they were pretty blunt and said it's not an iron. Doubt I will buy anything from Tefal again. Great with one drawback. No wait..2 – It works fine and I’m learning how not to steam creases into shirts, it’s a whole new deal but I love the speed of it and it’s really going to impact my dry cleaning bill big time! Probably pay for itself in about 8 weeks so I’m happy about that. 2 problems though. I bought this product with the understanding that there was a crease attachment,… Read more
which would be great for pants. Nothing in the box. Ask the customer service people and they responded quickly but say it’s not available in Australia. Crazy! Second, you do need to be careful of heat and the product should probably come with some link to a ‘how to’ so people don’t injure themselves.
Is the handle supposed to be hot and get hotter after 15 minutes – We just bought IS6300 today and try out immediately. Ironning about 10 pieces of shirts and shirts and pants Is the handle supposed to be hot and get hotter and hotter after 15 minutes of used, I need to wear a glover as it get burning feel, is it right or something is not right ??? Good but not great – I bought this 18 months ago, hoping it would help with ironing linen shirts. It certainly helps in relaxing the wrinkles but traditional ironing still beats it for a crisp finish. So while it didn't work as I had hoped, I found it worked really well for my delicate and silk garments, extending wear time between dry cleaning. I've never had any… Read more
trouble in regards to leakage, but unfortunately now it doesn't work at all, although the light is lit indicating power is on. To be honest, for the price, I'm disappointed that it didn't last as long as a friend's $50 steamer from Big W which is still going strong. I'm not convinced it is worth the extra cost despite its advantages of quick warm up time, good sized water tank, and more powerful steam supply.
As another review mentioned, it would benefit from a glove and crease attachment (especially as the US equivalent does have the crease attachment included). I also found that the pole extension didn't allow for longer dresses, meaning I could do the top part of a dress but then had to hang it elsewhere to finish it off.

Average performance for it's price – Bought the IS6300 from Myers during promotion. I've used a couple garment steamers prior to this model. This is the most expensive model I've purchased and honestly feel it's overpriced for performance similar to steamers below $100. I chose this model due to the vertical support but the price difference between this and the IS6200 doesn't seem… Read more
justified because the support wasn't as useful as I thought it would be. A glove would be more effective IMO.
One thing I found irritating is that the max height is too short even for me. My height is 171cm and I have to hunch to iron my clothes.
Pros
It does work for materials that are easy to iron.
Easy to move around with tilt and go system.
Fast to start steaming
Like the hanger system.
Leg operated On/Off switch
Cons
An iron is still more effective.
Short max height makes it very difficult to iron.
No glove or crease attachment.
Conclusion
After this experience, I think I'll just learn how to iron properly with a proper iron.

Almost 5 stars – Very effective easy to use garment steamer. Used on all my silk & linen clothes, curtains and drapes with good result. Did not leak. Read all instructions for technique and how to avoid dribbles. Would be perfect were it not for the lack of a glove & crease attachment. For this reason I am returning. Show reply
The customer support is the worst one – I have Rowenta IS6300 but it looks exactly as Tefal one. I wonder are they the same. I bought two weeks ago. The water always staying in the base under the water tank. I tried to call customer support 2 times. Every minute the annoying message how valuable customer you are. If you are patient as I was and do not hang up the system hang up on… Read more
you. I believe the leaking is not normal and I have to return the product. It also spits the water together with steam Is it normal? The hangers do not hold anything.
Returning it tomorrow – I also read the reviews. There seems to be no in between. It either works really well or it leaks. Mine leaked. The tank leaked at the join about half way up and part way through the steaming there was water everywhere. I also found it to be too short and the clips difficult to use. Overall a really big disappointment and it's going back.

Tefal 6300 Garment Steamer – Purchased the Tefal 6300 Garment Steamer at Myer for $169 on special (was $199). Easy to use, no leaks, great on jeans and some shirts, (not polo shirts for some reason). Quicker than using an iron, without the "shine". Down side, pants clips not easy to use, the hook which the steaming head locks on to, is not all that secure. Would I buy again...Yes Show reply

Great easy to use machine – We just purchased to IS6300 and it's wonderful. Easy to set up and use, and does a great job. Our unit hasn't leaked, we were sure to push it down so the seals were secure. When it made a gurgling noise or water came out on the clothing I held the hose vertically for a few seconds and it stopped. No issues so far Show reply
Love it!!!! – It's changed my life. No leaking. I'm unable to hold an iron so the lightweight steamer is perfect. I'm steaming everything i can get my hands on! My husband's work shirts are also ironed effortlessly as are delicate fabrics. Easy to set up and move around. Love it. Worth it.
Heats quickly and steams beautifully – I absolutely love my Tefal IS6300 steamer. It heats quickly and steams all my clothes and a wedding dress. So easy to use. I am going to try it on my new curtains next. If a steamer splutters its a build up of condensation in the hose. stops spluttering right away.
The first steamer I used was a friends and it leaked water until she showed me how to put the water container in.
My tip with all steamers is make sure to push the water container in properly or it could leak.
Pretty good but I still need an iron – Have updated my review from the previous 1-star review. I purchased the Tefal IS6300 but found that it leaks water from the base. Big puddles of water. This was when filling it short of the line that they use to indicate the maximum. I've found that if you fill it about halfway full, well short of the actual indicated line, then it works… Read more · 1
without leaking. Then it does the job pretty well.
It's not a replacement for an iron that delivers properly ironed, crisp business shirts but it does the job quickly on casual button-up shirts that are a bit too wrinkled. I still use it for business shirts but I basically do a quick once-over, then iron - I find it shortens the ironing time required.
Also, I noticed a comment from someone who is 171 cm and has to hunch to use this on their shirts. I'm taller than that and have no issues. There is a telescopic adjustment which helps you raise the adjustable arm so I'm wondering if that's what is causing the issue for the other user.
So all in all a pretty worthwhile purchase. It's just a bit annoying that it leaks if you follow the instructions but if you only fill it halfway, it's good.
