Excellent steam iron – I purchased this steam station today as a replacement for a Russell Hobbs steam station from Harris Scarfe that dripped water on the clothes every time I used it. Harris Scarfe were excellent at supplying a refund so I purchased this iron as a replacement for $150. This iron provides plenty of steam, even on eco mode. While the iron is a little… Read more
heavy it is no problem to use. There is a minor delay between pressing the steam button the first time and steam production, but once it is producing steam each press of the button pretty much provides instant steam. It is only day one but I am very happy with this purchase.
Don`t bother. Save your money – I have had many tefal steam irons, and needed to replace my old iron. I thought I would stay with tefal as all the other irons I've had have been great. This Liberty is a Lemon. The machine shudders before you get any steam if you even get any steam at all. Really do your self a favour and don`t bother. I will be returning this to tefal. Show details
Best iron I’ve ever used... ignore the negative comments! – I’m surprised at so many negative reviews! I’ve got this iron in a few houses I clean, where there’s lots of linen to iron. I’ll never go back to a regular steam iron. Cuts work in less than half the time it used to take, and really gets out ALL the wrinkles FAST. Totally worth the price, around $160. I bought the last (demo) model from shelf at… Read more
local shop for $130. None of these comments have been my experience once I got used to how to use the steam trigger. It’s light weight, and the handle design is excellent, ergonomically. The on/off light flashes when you haven’t used it for a few minutes, to let you know it’s about to shut down. Just press the flashing button and it will go back to normal. It also flashes when the setting is changed... it’s telling you to wait while it heats to correct temp. That’s the only thing I don’t really like... it’s too easy to accidentally change the setting when grabbing the iron. So it starts flashing... I just pop it back to the setting I want. Anyway, a couple seconds of flashing doesn’t bother me. And everything I needed to know is in the manual.
Too heavy – Hard to use this iron as it is very heavy, steam is not right, the steam is delayed... strange... our other Tefal iron was very good. Would like to return it but don't have packaging Show details
worst iron EVER – Terrible iron, it bursts the steam out looooong after you press the steam button. Very short cord to plug into the power. Buying a Tefal I thought I would be buying a quality product. This is without a doubt the worst iron I have ever owned. Should have read the reviews here first. Show details
Shocking not impressed at all – Bought this one to replace my previous Tefal one that I've had for 5 years - it was excellent! Replacing only because the plate is now scratched and marks the fabrics. So disappointed with this new one. When pressing the steam button it pulsates which is annoying, it takes ages when varying the temperature to come to temp. The shot of steam is so… Read more
delayed. By the time the steam comes through the iron is upright and you've finished, very dangerous and unexpected. Rang customer Tefal service she told me I needed to clean out the cal piece and use distilled water! It's brand new for goodness sake! Customer service just skirt about the problem offering useless solutions - no help at all which all the reviews say. Also doesn't appear to be as hot as my previous one. So disappointed! I did read lots of the reviews which most state all I've stated here but thought I'd give it a try... so sorry I did now, I've got to go to the trouble to return it. I purchased it on special they are an expensive item to buy.
I would not recommend this product – It doesn't work and I would not recommend!! I will be taking back for a refund!! I'm very disappointed with this iron. The last Tefel steam station I had was amazing, but with this one I think they have cut corners and it isn't a good product! Show details
Disappointed in how this iron operates – Iron on off button flicks and there is no trouble shooting to explain why it flicks or how to fix it during the operation of the iron Can’t get steam function going when I try to iron silk. The steam function is delayed. The anti cal device is supposed to click in according to the instructions but doesn’t do so. The anti calcium function does not… Read more
remove much calcium The instructions and trouble shooting guide is not helpful. Very disappointed because the iron has to be “managed”. Bought Tegel steam irons before and have been very happy.
I wouldn't buy this again and don't recommend it – Before purchasing this I emailed Tefal asking how much the hand piece weighed but was not favoured with the courtesy of a response. I wouldn't buy this product again. The handpiece (iron) is heavy and has poor glide. This is making it literally painful to use. I will only be able to iron in small doses as it is too hard on me. setting is selected automatically according to the temperature setting the user manually selects. This is at odds with the claims made on Tefal's on website.
The fitting to click the handpiece back onto the unit is fiddly, and in my opinion, dangerous. If you don't concentrate on fitting it correctly, it might fall off. So, if you don't rest the iron on the ironing board in between items, but want to put it back on the unit, as I do, it's a lot of mucking around and time consuming.
There is a weird delay in between ironing and when the steam is released, meaning that I've finished ironing one part and return the iron to the upright position to move the garment, and the steam shoots uselessly into the air instead of doing what it's supposed to do. Again, time consuming as I have to leave the iron on the garment after I've finished ironing that part to allow the steam to do its job.
The instructions are beyond useless, manifestly inadequate. And terribly wasteful of paper. There is a 146 page booklet of which only 2 pages are in English, and only contain safety warnings, not instructions. The only instructions that come with it are illustrated, or basically cartoons, which explain absolutely nothing. I have no idea what the ECO function does or how to use it. I have no idea how to change the anti-calc cartridge. On Tefal's product page on their own website, the "documentation" tab is empty.
This is my second Tefal steam generator but I doubt I would buy another product from them, given that the company does not have the courtesy to respond to enquiries, does not have the courtesy to provide customers who do purchase with an instruction booklet either with the product or online, and does not have the courtesy to adequately list specifications such as the weight of the iron prior to purchase. The product is adequate, but I wouldn't buy another one of this model.
Update: after having this iron for a few days, not only wouldn't I buy it again, but I seriously regret buying it. The steam function doesn't work on the silk setting. Well, I have a lot of silk scarves. And the only way this product allows me to iron them with steam is to turn the temperature up to "wool." I'm thinking of trying to return this now. This iron has to be 'managed' which defeats the purpose of having a steam generator, namely that it is supposed to cut down on ironing time. I'm lodging a complaint with the manufacturer.
Second update: Tefal will not answer my correspondence. I purchased this product from Target and have requested a return/refund because the product is not "fit for purpose" under consumer law. Both the Tefal website and Target website claim that the product features "manual setting of steam and temperature" (Tefal) "Setting of steam & temperature; Manual setting" (Target) but this is not accurate. Users may manually select temperature, but the steam setting is automatic, and the user cannot elect to use steam on lower temperatures. Frankly, trying to get steam out of this steam generator is like trying to get blood from a stone. Whether or not Target accepts my return, I will have to buy another iron. This one is a dud and I can't use it.
