altogether. The unit would click as if it was working, but no steam would come out.
We would fill the water container, get steam briefly, then after pressing the button a second time there would be nothing. This happened repeatedly and made the iron completely unreliable for regular use.
This review is partly about the product and partly about The Good Guys’ handling of the issue. While I understand they are following their repair policy, we were left without an iron while it was sent away. No loan iron was offered, and the product was not replaced, despite it clearly being faulty and essential for day-to-day use.
Having no way to iron clothes for an extended period is unreasonable. For a premium product at this price point, both the reliability and the customer support were disappointing.
I would not recommend this iron, and I expected better support from The Good Guys in this situation.
Follow-up · Nothing has improved since my original review. Was steam production consistent? No. When it worked, the steam output was strong. The problem was that it rarely worked consistently. Not a reliable long lasting steam iron – I bought this iron, and loved it, but just stopped working for no reason, as it was only 13 months Tefal advised me to take it back to Myers for a replacement, which was great. lights as if heating up and then the red water light comes on flashing. The tank has heated up but the iron is still cold, and I cannot turn the red light off, no matter what I do. So disappointed as I love the steam irons.
Great iron – Purchased as a gift initially and got such great feedback that I decided to purchase one for myself and couldn’t be happier. Works well but I especially love it for linen which I always found difficult to iron but it’s now much quicker and seems to last longer. Would highly recommend this iron. Show details
One design fault – The water container is so dark, that it is not possible to SEE the water level when ironing. It would be easy to run out of water without knowing! It is now June 2023, and I have not received my steam station back and despite following up several times, cannot get any service at all from Tefal. single booklet style sheet of paper, which were rather difficult for me to understand. I do prefer a proper booklet with step by step instructions, and detail on each mode. I found it easier to experiment hands on rather than the paper provided. There are FAQ’s if you proceed to the Tefal website which I found very helpful. The water tank holds 1.9 litres, which is brilliant as other models hold less. I like lock mechanism that holds the iron in place on the tank so it accidentally doesn’t fall if knocked. The actual iron is light which is great for elderly or those with shoulder issues. The tank is easy to fill and seamlessly slides in and out for refill. Heat up time is a brief 2 minutes, given the size. Steam out put is magnificent, at 130 grams/minute, and a boost option, at 570 grams/minute, but then again, I’ve only had a regular steam iron previously. There is also an “Eco” mode which allows less energy consumption, but also less steam. I like that the iron also heats up, not just continuous steam. The sole plate is durilium which means it has holes all over the surface and sides of the sole plate. As a seamstress, this is important, to get a nice looking, flat, accurate seam. Also this iron is great for steaming garments on the hanger. Steaming sheer curtains is now easier for me as well, although I have to move the entire station. The handle is comfortable, and I find the power cord and steam cord ample length. To descale the generator, you only need to unscrew the valve and rinse under water. No chemicals are recommended. All in all I would recommend this steam generator iron to everyone. It has made ironing much quicker, and pleasant for me, and I cannot fault the product.
Excellent – The first Tefla iron is still working after 6 years and never missed a beat Model No GV9460. I dropped this iron on concreat cracked the water tank and cracked the side of the iron.I cant say anything against the GV9460. as this iron it is still working my daughter has it now. I purched Tefla .GV9534 it is lighter, fabulous steam, this iron works, it took to all the fabric i put under the iron plate. Extreamly satisfied
This is a great iron! – I have never had a steam station before until i purchased one recently, i can say i am very impressed. I am able to only iron one side of a garment with no need to do the other side. I would definitely recommend it! Time saver. Show details
