Tefal make good irons but they dont last – We have had 2 Tefal Steam Stations. The first lasted 5 years which I feel is just acceptable. The second (A GV533) Started Playing up before it got to 3 years old. Weve now had it 3 years 4 months and its unusable. That is totally unacceptable quality on a $400 iron. You pull the trigger and nothing happens then 30 minutes later the steam comes out for a minute or 2 then stops again. I rang an authorised repairer who advised me to chuck it. Tefal keep no support parts in Australia, everything has to come from France and its a 3 month lead time. This is terrible when you pay so much money for what I thought was a premium product.
Very good steam station / Iron – This steam station replaces 7 year old model GV8360ZO which had a leak in the boiler would have cost close to a new unit to repair. I have used this iron myself and found it extremely easy and good to use, but my wife is the biggest user by far, using it 3 times a week for half an hour to an hour. My wife's feedback is that the iron is every bit as good to use as the steam station it replaced, and even though the steam capacity and rate is down a little on the original model, it uses it very efficiently and has more than enough capacity for ironing clothes ranging from light to heavy, like jeans etc.
The temperature settings are noted to be very accurate, and the iron itself, even though a little smaller and lighter than the previous model, glides over the fabrics and does a great job. "If you need to do the ironing, which is chore, then you may as well do it with the best tools for the job" and the Tefal certainly fits the bill.
As is generally the case with all Tefal products we have owned, the build quality is very good as is the design. Its easy to use and the controls are not at all difficult to use.
PROS: - Good build quality (Tefal quality is evident in the design and build) - Temperature and settings accurate - Steam capacity and delivery more than adequate - Iron itself is lightweight and glides over the fabrics being ironed - The lock system to hold the iron onto the base is very good, no chance of falling when moved - Good water capacity, water lasts a long time
CONS: - Steam hose storage a little cumbersome - No self winding cable storage (some models have it) which is a bit of a problem for storage - Some may see the size with the water tank is a little bulky, but the water capacity is a +ve
