Worst iron I have ever had. Doesn’t glide at all… it actually sucks the clothes into the iron if it’s too cold or even when it’s hot, regardless of the fabric. It also spits water all over the clothes when ironing, so much that you can’t just iron and wear, you have to spot dry them first.
Misleading information on TEFAL website – Recently I purchased a Tefal iron, model FV5873, from Harris Scarfe. The intention was to replace a FV5355 which had become inoperative.. The length of the electrical cord on the old FV5355 was 2.5m. The sales assistant at Harris Scarfe assured me that the cord length on the new FV5873 was also 2.5m.. In actual fact when I opened the box I found… Read more
the cord length to be less than 2.0m. I returned the iron to Harris Scarfe and was immediately issued with a full refund as they had no other iron to offer with a 2.5m cord. Subsequently I went to a Myer store with a request to purchase an iron with a 2.5m cord. The Myer staff member looked up the Tefal specification pages and offered me an FV8062 which they had in stock.. I made him open the box and we discovered that the electrical cord on this iron was also less than 2m. despite the specification of 2.5m. shown on the Tefal website. I am still seeking an electric iron with 2.5m of cord. TEFAL should NOT be showing incorrect specifications on their website.

Don’t waste your time – Hardly any steam. Don’t waste your time with this iron, rather buy a Philips iron. Show details
Poor quality and does not perform well – If I had bought a $20 Kmart iron then I'd say I got what I paid for. But considering this was $100, it's a pretty poor product for the price. When I first got it, the iron would turn on but not heat up, so I had to return it. Immediately this does not bode well for their quality control. The replacement worked, but after a week the switch to… Read more
change steam settings broke. I didn't return it because I am too lazy, but it means we can't change to high steam.
Now ironing out creases in clothes is the core functionality of an iron, right? This Tefal iron is not great at this. Several times I have finished ironing my shirt, but when I pick it up to look at it, many of the creases still remain. Not sure how an iron can get the basics wrong. On top of this, it regularly leaves weird rippled or corrugated creases on the fabric.
Our previous iron was a Braun, which worked so much better than this one. Unfortunately, I can't justify the expense of throwing this one out and getting a different brand.
On the plus side, the colour is nice.
Not hot enough – Bought this iron couple of months ago. This is a very disappointing product as this is not hot enough to straighten cotton cloths. I never adjusted the dial but always keep it high even for polyester. Always I need to use excessive amount of steam to get a reasonable result. Waste of money. Not recommended. Show details
BUYER'S REMORSE – Unfortunately, the design, particularly the base flashy triangle stand, is quite cumbersome and my wrist tired after ironing only a couple of garments. It's a heavyish lump of a thing and I wish I'd had longer to research before purchasing. Show details
What a gem – Bought over Christmas, what a lovely heavy iron and irons brilliantly over thick cotton pillow cases and smooth on delicate shirts.i recommend it. Down side it has a short cord ...don't know why would you do that to an iron.! Show details
Do not buy this iron unless you have a very high IQ – I bought this iron for the features listed however I can’t use these features and don’t even know how to clean the product because the instructions are not clear. The only instructions provided are just confusing diagrams with no written instructions. I contacted Tefal to ask for actual instructions on how to operate the iron but they said they… Read more
only have these diagrams and don’t even produce basic YouTube videos to explain how to operate the iron. I cannot believe they don’t provide proper clear instructions on how to use their product. I will never buy another Tefal product because they don’t clearly explain how to use it.
