The House Sitters

Should have read the reviews. Dodgy for sure the payment details alone says trouble. Andrew J Knight PL. what tha?
If I could give zero stars I would. These people are scammers. The houses don't exist. They will take your membership money and then ghost you. I have reported them for fraudulent activity.
Hopefully history – It would seem that the world has caught up with these fraudsters. Hardly anyone advertising on site, and decreasing by the week. Sitters, save your money, don't pay them their $60. Owners, don't waste your time advertising with them. Look elsewhere, mind home has done me great for the past 3 years. Give it a go!!
SCAM / THEFT – SCAM - like everyone else - took money weeks ago and I am still unable to log in or book jobs. They are impossible to reach and do not provide contact details other than submitting an enquiry but do not respond. They are stealing people's money.
They just want your monry – Don't be fooled, there is no one on the other side! I signed up and paid, then discovered that I could not access the assignments ( I could see them but was not able to apply) I wrote to try and cancel/ or fix the problem, but didn't hear back, I could see that "my case was opened' Never heard from them. Eventually, after some time I checked in to… Read more
see if anyone had ever responded. I found that my subscription was up for renewal. I even sent them a letter but it came right back to me. It appears that they only want your money
Not one of the great sites, glitches and no support – I’ve used this site for nearly 4 years, as I’m a full time housesitter. It’s definitely not one of good ones for support or site ease, but I have found some great sits through it. I do believe there are some fakes one on there as they’re without photos and have limited information. The glitches I have found are logging in and at times being… Read more
advised my account is expired. I worked it out that you need to close your browser and retype the web address into Google and login in again. If I use a saved page on my phone or click the web page from starting to type it stuffs up.
The site definitely needs a refreshment and it’s annoying that you can’t feature your reviews instead of them all going up! One of mine glitched as the owner wasn’t tech savey and it’s my request to them rather than their review.
Their support function doesn’t work unless you advise them your account or the site may have been hacked, as I first thought that was the issue when my account advised it was expired and I was having issues logging in.
I paid $100 to this company back in the 90s for their booklet (prior to internet) I didn’t get one sit! But now I’ve saved thousands. I’ve nearly let my membership run out but it’s been worth it for the cost so I stay.
I think it’s a real shame they don’t care about people on the site, it just ticks along giving them money without thinking about it. Not a great way to live and do business.
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER – Hi, I had sitter staying at my place from that website and I raised a concern as below, I never got any answers from them. [Name Removed] and his family, took my place for a free supermarket, I told them they could use some shelves but not bottom shelved in pantry and fridge, they took pretty much everything, I got back from my trip and had to… Read more
do to a massive shopping. Toilet papers, cleaning products, food (non perishable), destroyed 2 set of bed sheets, took away knives, scissors, laundry baskets, made marks to freshly painted walls. But the worst was they were in my house to take care of my dog and cat and they didn't complete this part of their share, my dog lost over 2 kilos during this month, 11 month old puppy put on weights not the opposite. And where are the $250 petty cash I left them, gone with them, there were not at my house when I returned and my dog was left with a bucket of dry kibble, cat didn't have any food.
This site seems to be a joke and designed to take $60 from the house sitters from what I have heard. I searched their ASIC number and couldn't find any under that name, so I guess all tax free too.

Eluazbeth A House sitter review – Elizabeth house sat for me and puss 3weeks over the Christmas period prior to the house sit Elizabeth came to my house twice to meet Rupert(Rupee) the cat there was an immediate clear rapport Rupee is a very shy 5year old cat and I've only ever seen him "warm immediately" to one other person I received daily updates with pictures for my peace of… Read more
mind I could see Rupee was very relaxed and happy I arrived home after 3weeks to a spotlessly clean house I was/ am so impressed with Elizabeth she has great integrity and honesty and a genuine love for animals I would thoroughly recommend her to you I have used a number of house /pet sitters in the past and Elizabeth outshines them all thank-you so much Elizabeth
Stay away – Like the other commentors, they took my money and I have never been able to use the site. Impossible to contact them either, they don't respond and there is no phone number. They're just thieves.
There's no body home! – I signed up a week ago and have not been able to even make contact with the people who are requesting a house sitter. I have written 3 times (2 tickets)but no reply
Gone down hill - Stay away – Renewed for 2 years. Money taken but not renewed even after several tickets created to fix. No contact details on site. Now can’t log in at all. Bad form. Got email address from PayPal site, no reply. Now lodged complaint thru PayPal
Keep away – Wanted a house sitter from www.house sitters.com.au to look after my house & small dog. 4 days in she up and left without warning citing a personal emergency. She didn’t even have the courtesy to call me but SMSd instead & gave me absolutely no notice leaving me in an awkward situation of trying to find a someone to look after my small dog for the… Read more
remaining 10days away. To leave an animal without any thought of the repercussions is irresponsible. This site does not allow you to review the sitter so no doubt she will do it again. What a joke.
Do not renew your membership – I was happy with this company until it came time to renew my membership. Prior to the due date I paid the fee but was cut off regardless. This could be an honest mistake, but the problem is the only way to make contact with these people is by 'ticket' which seems to go nowhere as I have submitted numerous such tickets but received no response or… Read more
action. I have lodged a complaint with Fair Trading as suggested by a previous complainant, and suggest you do the same. These people need to be made accountable and to sort out their business practices as they appear to have caused disappointment and frustration to many of us.

No COMMUNICATION or web function – I've just joined, last month - the function to take my money still works, but cant upload my photo or references, tried everything (low size pics & docs) raised three support tickets and weeks later, no response. the site has not emailed me the weekly listings to choose from in my area either. As a Graphic Designer I can tell you this site is… Read more
old and not functioning. has not had correct updates and so will only get worse. Do not waste your money, find another house siting agency and google reviews for anything before you pay. I did contact an owner and get a job, and he is clueless as to what is going on, saying it worked for him to list the house twice. there is no contact nor email.
A Registered-Practicing-Scam – I was on the House Sitters site a while back and let my membership lapse. I saw a sit that was coming up so renewed the membership and applied for the sit, sending off an application. There were a couple of issues surrounding the clunky 1970's style site and sent an email to say how it was very difficult to deal with. I am now locked out of the… Read more
site. They have been scamming plenty of people by the look of it, and avoiding all contact with members who have lost there money. So, I've 'donated' their address. The House Sitters 26 Greenway Street, Wickham, NSW 2293. Maybe somebody could drop by and say 'g'day'!
I was a long term client until November 2020 – No communication. They have taken my money and not renewed my membership. I am lodging a complaint with the Department Of Fair Trading. I suggest others do the same. I have attempted to contact via the website and via the email addresses I have had for Andrew Knight over the years
No Responses - I Suspect Fake Housesits – Lack of any response to applications seems to be a common problem....makes me suspect there is potentially at least some level of fake jobs listed to entice sitters to sign-on/pay to join. The online system setup is antiquated and crude in its design (at least for poor for people looking for housesit jobs - I cannot comment for those listing their… Read more
jobs as I haven't been on this side of the fence). The website shows its age and lack of development...it has minimal functionality and a total absence of process transparency: * Nothing on the status of a job listing e.g. open/closed/under review etc. * No indication/.counter of the number applications submitted for a job * No closing dates for applications * Poor structured elaboration of requirements or criteria for selection * Whether your application has even been opened/read/reviewed * Whether any communication at all has been opened/seen/read * No minimum or recommended service requirements for job listers The number of bad reviews on another review site I saw outweighed the positive ones - my fault for not noticing this earlier before I signed on and gave my money away for nothing! I complaints about the website's deficiencies (similar observations to mine) in a negative review on another review site and the owner responded that they had some improvements in the pipeline - I noted that the post was 2 years old and nothing seemed to have been done. Despite being a professed pioneer in this space, the owners/management clearly have no intent to continually improve their service to match the competition.....instead they seem to want to take the easy money and provide little in return (essentially conning and ripping off people in my opinion). I have since had prompt responses and positive experiences with several competitors' sites - the proof of the pudding is in the eating!!! Heed the warning and skip registering with this site.
Disappointed – House sitters are a shocking company, paid twice, no refund I feel the house sits are fake. Unable to get any response from administration. They take your money and that’s it . Do not use !! Mindahome and TrustedHousesitters are both fantastic.
No Contact Number and no response from the owners of this website – I signed up as a house sitter on Saturday, they promptly processed my $50 out of my account however I never received any email to activate my membership. I have sent an email a day asking for a phone call, an email or something to activate my account, but still I have heard nothing. I have requested a refund of my $50 and still no contact from… Read more
Andrew or Haylee Knight the owners of the company page. This is a poorly run website. I am a member of 2 other house sitting websites and I have had no problem with either of them. I would recommend staying away from this website.
