Best Western Plus Hotel Lord Forrest

Three adults shared room at the Lord Forrest Hotel Bunbury Western Australia on the evening 11th April 2026. Pros: Centrally located and easy to find. Counter staff helpful. Great ocean views. Breakfast about average. All appliances work. Cons: Allocated room 505 which was the subject of a very mouldy odour emanating from carpet. Transferred to room 506 which was odourless. More akin to a 3 star hotel. Management without advising customers adds on to the initial telephonic booking by stealth a $6 surcharge for using any credit card [in my case Visa]. Advised there is no other way to avoid the $6. Television receptions in both rooms kept breaking up on all stations including the ABC. Only one elevator operational to service the entire hotel [other one defunct].

Conclusion: Would I subject my wife and grandson to this establishment again? Most definitely NO. It comes down to lazy and inept management who prefer the short cut.

BEAUTIFUL HOTEL ,BUT – I booked a 2 bed suite for 3 nights over Christmas I arrived early and got into my accomodation immediately. It was magnificent everything you could wish for, and a beautiful view over the ocean. I met friends there for dinner Christmas night having previously booked a table and the meal we wanted. We arrived early so we could have a drink and a chat before our meal. it became obvious there were not enough staff on duty, it took an age to get drinks , and our meal To say the service was woeful.is being polite. The meal was not good either, and the price expensive We could not fault the staff they did their best. but it did spoil our evening The restaurant was not busy , so no excuses. Due to a change in circumstances I had to check out a day early. Having stayed here many times before this visit was a disappointment.
