Thermacell E55 Rechargeable Mosquito Repeller

Bought this from Bunnings $79, after reading positive reviews on this site. I thought expensive but if works, good value for money. It does not work. Stay with the Aeroguard. Show details
Its ok but expensive and overpriced for no clear reason – My mum n dad bought one, works but expensive. We borrowed it and it worked as well, but when i went to buy the refill i nearly died. I found my old moretein 240v plug in bug repellers with the little green pad. (hard to find now) tried them in the house and just as effective as this expensive thing. So i dunno, maybe it was just us, but we get sandflies, mozzies and midgees and the moretein one worked the same for us for like $4. Show details
works and easy to use – I've tried everything from Mosquito Machines running on nat gas tank to multiple varieties of flowering plants known to repel mosquitos..the plants worked well enough but very expensive to replace three trays of assorted planting size and letting them live as long as possible in their trays. This is much easier, less expensive but not free for… Read more
sure and seems to work well. I did not get a single bite all summer in backyard nor did i even see and mosquitos on windows.
WORKS! But refills last less than half the stated time – It is the only mozzie repeller I have found working reliably so far. Great! But, at a cost of approx. $2 per hour, I took it back to Bunnings and got a refund without problems. I would think this is an example of a manufacturer unashamedly using its market position to make super profits by bltantly exaggerating refill run time. Can't wait for… Read more
competion to wake up! (China, are you listening?) (Btw., I slavishly logged the hours of use, and closed the bottle with the stopper when not is use).
Could this be a product that finally works? – Does it work? Yes Is it cheap and cost effective - maybe Last year at family xmas, someone used Thermacell Insect Repeller. Lets say we did not get bitten, especially my partner who seems to be a mosquito magnet. This year we bought one ready for all the outside dinners. We had looked at them before but idea of propane to fill etc was not winning… Read more
us over. This unit is USB chargeable, and has a simple refill to insert. It covers about 28m2 per device (advertised), is silent and cant smell anything. SO far we have no been bitten once when using. Use of coils, candles and powered zappers have been stopped and don't see them being used again unless we have a sudden surge. Charge it up, turn it on for 15 mins and after that you should be good to go. Starter comes with a small refill, additional refills last 40 hours and cost about same, so it costs about $1 per hour, but some I am sure would see that as worth it.
Pros -no mess, easy to change cartridges in seconds -recharges so is not single use batteries -actually works (for us) -safe for kids and pets, no smells or viable smoke -28m2 protection, add more to make it better -comes with a starter mosquito repellent
Cons -refills to some may not seem cheap, 3 packs don't seem to be cheaper to buy -have been times i have heard stock was short -seems to take a while to charge -no timer function -high price initial layout $80AUD not including refills
Tips: -always keep a spare refill on hand, and keep device charged as it can take some time -always try and get it going for 10 min at least before you start, dont expect immediate protection once on. -Be wary of use, if you go inside don't forget to turn it off, it has no timer option so it will stay on until the mosquito repellent runs out, or the batter does so could be a costly mistake. Seems to last about 5-6 hours
